Up for auction is an antique green glass perfume bottle with sterling silver overlay designs. There is no monogram. The stopper is approx. 1.5 inches long. The bottle stands approx. 2.5 inches without the stopper and 3.5 inches with it. On the back of the neck below the rim it is stamped Sterling. I can not find any other marks. There is one very tiny either flaw or chip on the bottom, I really can't tell if it is a flaw in the glass or tiny chip as it is very hard to notice. It is about the size of tiny grain of pepper. Antique Alvin Sterling Overlay Crystal Pefume Bottle Iris
A drop dead gorgous perfume bottle Swirls of fine sterling connecting line patterns with iris. Near the base on one of those lines is: 1000 Fine(Alvin Hallmark) 3111. The stopper has a number scratched onto it. That looks like 671. It is about 3 1/2" tall. Without stopper about 2 1/2" It has a monogram in old script of 3 letters. The first letter looks like M the last C. No chips. There is an 1/8th spot where a very thin sterling overlay line has come off. You would not notice this, as the sterling line is complete,it is just a side of the line.

This is a set of antique. 999, sterling silver overlay, art nouveau, perfume bottles. To our knowledge. They are Alvin Sterling Silver with the low numbers of 3104, fine. We're assuming they are rare. The Alvin Manufacturing Company was founded in 1886 by William H. Jamo uneau in Irvington. New Jersey. The company moved to Sag Harbor. Long Island in 1895 and later changed its name to the Alvin Silver Co. in 1919. The Alvin Silver Manufacturing Company was known for making fine sterling silver. The Gorham company of Providence. Rhode Island acquired the Alvin Company’s dies and patterns in 1928. The largest measures 4" tall and 3 1/2" in diameter with original stopper. The second to largest one that's very wide and flat measures approximately 3 1/4" x 2 1/2" diameter with original stopper. The stopper is the one ... morethat's chipped. The top says"GB" in script. THIS IS A LOVELY ANTIQUE MARKED 3110- 999/1000 FINE ALVIN STERLING SILVER OVERLAY VANITY PERFUME BOTTLE. WITH VINE AND IRIS PATTERN. INCLUDED IS THE MATCHED# STOPPER. Both are in very good, gently used condition. Both pieces are wrapped in an intricate vine and iris pattern overlay of delicate 999 Fine Alvin Sterling Silver. Both the bottle and the stopper are marked on the bottom of the glass with the number 799, and so are a matched set. The bottle has an oval area that is perfect for your monogram or cartouche. This bottle stands 2 1/8" tall without the stopper, and 3 1/4" tall with the stopper, by 2 7/8" across its widest. It still smells faintly of some long ago ladies fragrance. Antique Emerald Glass With Sterling Silver Overlay Scent Bottle. I am pretty sure this is an Alvin. But the name Alvin does not appear on the bottle. There are some very hard to read inscriptions which appear to say patented 70 and 99 fine. The stopper has small chips and the bottom shows age appropriate wear. But the piece is in excellent condition. Also there are numbers; 069 crossed out and 717 same with the stopper. The bottle is 4.25" tall by 2.5" wide.

Up for auction is GORGEOUS BOTTLE#2 of a matching set of ALVIN marked sterling silver overlay perfume bottles with a lovely Art Nouveau IRIS decoration. The bottle is approximately 3 38" tall and 2 3/4" across the widest span. The condition is SUPER. The sterling overlay is THICK with NO DENTS. DINGS or SEPARATION. The sterling oval cartouche is NOT monogrammed. The glass bottle has NO CHIPS, NO CRACKS and NO SICKNESS. There is a smooth flake along the end of the stopper's dowel that spans the entire 1/2" area with a height of between 1/16" and 1/8" It ... moreappears to have been professionally ground down and polished. It is TOTALLY SMOOTH to the touch, still fitting perfectly inside the bottle There was a little bit of residue inside the bottle that I was able to clean with a damp Q-TIP. Because of its small size I was unable to clean the entire inside as well as I had hoped to. The stopper's flat dowel end and the bottle's underside are etched with the numbers 596 showing that this is a matched set. My many pictures show the details.
