Old Vintage Farm Barn Cobalt Blue Lightning Rod Ball LRB W Caps Weather Vane NR
Neat original lightning rod ball. Cobalt. But a lighter shade of cobalt. Seam down each side. One very nice end, the other has some chipping which I have pictured. I believe one cap may be original, the other might be an older replacement? The holes in the ball are right at 1" The ball is right at 4 1/4" across. Nice original. I have for sale an antique cow weathervane and lightening rod. It is very old. I'm not sure of what metals it's made of: The lightning rod tip is copper. The rod itself may be brass. The crossarm. Arrow and the legs looks like wrought iron. The cow itself may be tin or steel. It is 66" tall. 33" wide. The rod has a diameter of 5/8" This is a very nice old weathervane and lightening rod. VINTAGE TAYLOR ELECTRONIC WEATHER VANE--NEVER USED-NEW IN BOX!
Here is a vintage"Taylor Wind Direction Indicator" Model No.3106. This unit is an electric weather vane with 60 Feet of wire and a nice wooden indoor control panel. The unit is in its original box with instructions. The pipe mast is not included. It does come with a D cell battery installed not the old original Ray-O-Vac but that one is included as well.Even the instructions are included. The vane is about 17" long. The control box is 6 1/2" wide by 5" tall and 2 1/4" deep. excluding the knobs) I cleaned and worked the pot and the multi-switch with electronic cleaner and tested it to make sure it works as it should. It indicated and calibrates properly. This thing is pretty cool. I have never seen one before. I am guessing that this was made in the 60's or 70's. Great patina on this old rod. Tip and base This is cool in that the cable needs to be threaded into the base and the terminal has extended threads to pinch the cable into the base. A terrible design that has the cable running along the ridge and is visible from both sides. See perfect and clean copper under the swedged tip. About 12" tall. NO more of these available.

There is some wear and repair to the fittings. But all the glass is in great shape without any cracks or chips. General small imperfections due to the blown glass for the age. 5 1/4" high(from the end of one brass fitting to the other) 4 1/4" diameter round. Lightning Rod Ball damaged
This is one of those moon and stars balls but looks like someone shot it with a BB gun while it was mounted on the roof. The"neck" on either end of the ball has the usual chipping but better than some I've seen. I thought perhaps if you were going to mount it on the roof. The holes wouldn't really be noticed. There is some cracking around the holes but it has held together well over the years I have had it laying around. Some black shading on the inside one end like perhaps some paint overspray or soot or something. Thought maybe someone would have a use for it. Vintage Airplane Weathervane A great hand made folk object with an old surface
Here is a very nice old folk art type airplane weathervane. This piece has a great old weathered surface from being out in the elements and being used. There are at least 3 coats of old paint with a light gray being the last. The wood shows some nice signs of age with minor splits and a nice patina on the exposed surfaces. It has character. The propeller still turns and sags a little, it could be fixed but that is part of what it is now. It is quite large with a wingspan of 26" and it is just over 23" long, the propeller is 11" in length. This hand made piece has great character and charm and displays very well. I really don’t know a lot about this weathervane. And I am no weathervane expert. When I bought this. I knew that it was a special piece. It stands 89 inches tall. And the brass or bronze arrow is 43 inches from tip to tail. The remainder of the weathervane is iron. This is a fresh barn find that has some damage and some repairs. There is one picture that shows a separate piece that is a spear that was broken off and came with the weathervane when I purchased it. I considered taking it to a specialist for restoration; however. I have decided to sell it and let the new buyer change it in whatever way that they want. Fresh from the roof of an early Pennsylvania barn. That has collapsed under the weight of this winter's snow, are the three lightning rods with weathervane. They are made of copper, brass, and iron, with porcelain insulators(one insulator is missing, one is broken) The lightning rods stand approx. 6' tall, and the weathervane arrow is 32" long(animal piece is missing) The twisted center pieces look to be copper-covered iron(some copper is peeling/damaged, see photos) topped with what I believe are solid brass acorn pieces, and the five spikes look to be copper(one has a few bent spikes from the collapse) The glass/ceramic balls are missing, but the ring-caps are still present(lots of balls available here on eBay) The three-legged iron mounting brackets are fair for their age; rusty and pitted, all mounting feet and insulator ... morebrackets are present. EXTREMELY RARE LIGHTNING ROD GLASS HANGING PENDANT / BALL REDISH AMBER WOW!!
Here is a very rare and hard to find lightning rod hanging pendant/ ball. In 44 years as an antique dealer, the only one I have ever owned. from top of hanger to the tip it measures 5 inches ling and about 3 inches wide at the widest point. It is a redish amber in color, looks like it has a shallow chip coming out from under the metal cap, looks like maybe from clear back when it was assembled, otherwise, its perfect.tough, don't let it get away from you!
