This stunning piece was found at a Dutch estate in Amsterdam and likely has island or African origins. It is the femur of a cow. Intricately carved, hollowed and polished to turn it into some sort of ceremonial vessel. I have never seen anything like it. For the past 50 years it has been packed in a suitcase my grandmother took on a cruise in 1933 from San Francisco to New York. By way of the Panama Canal. It could have been purchased on that trip. But she also lived in San Diego off& on from 1916 to 1935, so I suppose it could have been an early item from Mexico. However, I now live in SD and have not seen anything like this from Mexico. The bag was no doubt done with vegetable dyes and the horizontal stripes are in natural. Red, terracotta, yellow ochre, olive green and another of grass green. This stunning piece is an original piece of tribal art from the Island of Borne o. the Dayak people are a hill dwelling tribe from the interior of Borneo. It is carved in wood and highly decorated with stunning carvings typical of the Dayak tribe.In the centre there are three"udoq" faces. With inlaid shell eyes, to ward off evil spirits. They are flanked by almost Celtic design carvings. There are needs along the top. Rush shoulder straps and a string of beads for the baby to play with. There are no cracks or repairs it is in excellent condition. It has a good even colour.

Measurements: 88 cm(34.5" High 18 cm(7" Wide This is a rare old hand-carved mask/sculpture features a Vampiric Qliphoth Demon entity from the Sitra Achra(the Other Side) I'm not certain of the exact location on Earth. Where this was made, but I suspect this originated from one of the islands in the Pacific Rim. I have seen, and collected other masks, sculptures and statues, that have come from the islands of the Pacific, and which look eerily close to H.P. Lovecraft's descriptions of Qliphothic and Vampiric entities(or Old Ones) such as Cthulhu, Dagon, Yogsothoth, Shub-Niggurath, etc. It has always been strongly rumoured, that the Great Old One- Cthulhu, had been imprisoned many aeons ago, in the dark depths ... moreof the Pacific Ocean. This demon mask is huge, being 88 cm(34.5" in height(so it is over 1 metre in length) weights around 2.2 kg, and would make a very impressive wall or temple hanging. It has a huge open mouth, with massive lower fangs which are 9 cm(3.5" long. It has a wide flattened nose, with flaring nostrils, and wide set bulging eyes, and appears to be wearing a feathered headdress. This piece has been carved from heavy dark hard wood, with light tonal variations, and has a superb dark patina. This old artefact, is in good condition, with just a small crack on the right side, near the top, but is all intact. ANTIQUE RUSSIAN IMPERIAL VYSOTSKIY TIN TEA CONTAINER BOX CADDY 1915 PAN-SLVIC
An antique and exceptionally beautiful Russian litographic tea tin or caddy circa 1915 made by A. Jacouota and Co. Odessa for Vysotsky Tea Company Moscow. Товарищество Чайной Торговли В. Высоцкий и Ко Москва. Vysotsky Tea company is still in business making tea, now based in Israel. The caddy has a domed hinged lid with top and four sides illustrated by lithographs of Russian peasant life, possibly by Motorin, pan-slavic style of decorated border. Being made at the time of WWI, there is an interesting panel of male Army recruits going out to war. The tin is signed by the maker in three places, both in French and Russian. On the bottom there a commercial logo by the Vysotskiy Tea Company in Moscow with a very interesting Art Nouveau style border. The tin is in very good antique condition, with bright colors and well preserved lithograms. There ... moreare minor dents and scratches as well as minor area of paint loss. The beautiful razor sharp tempered blade is 26” long and is.33” thick at the blade base. The thick wooden handle is covered with fine chip carving. A piece of trade cloth or talisman is still attached to handle. The blade has been cleaned but remains in very fine condition. The handle is missing the iron cross guards and the rattan is loose. The scabbard is missing its rattan.
