SIZE/MEASUREMENTS: Length: 243 millimeters(9 3/4 inches) Width: 188 millimeters(7 1/2 inches) Thickness: 25 millimeters(1 inch) Weight: 3 pounds. 6 ounces(about 1½ kilograms) CONDITION: Exceptional. Integrity entirely intact. No significant chips or cracks. Minor surface crazing. Professionally conserved. Can be sealed upon request. DETAIL: This is a very beautiful. Intricately detailed gray clay tile from the Liao Dynasty of ancient China. These clay tiles were used to decorate the inside walls of Buddhist shrines. The depiction is somewhat reminiscent of a Hindu depiction. Of course Buddhism came to China from Hindu India, and there exist of course many parallels between the Chinese and Indian variants of Buddhism. The depiction is of eight bodhisattvas of various sizes. There is a little surface crazing and a few minute chips; but no cracks or major chips. It is constructed of very strong sintered clay produced using a very special technique often employed to produce strengthened steel. Although it is probable that this specimen is much older. It is also possible that this piece might be a revivalist imitative produced for the European market of the 18th or 19th century. It is widely known that Chinese porcelain and other ceramic artwork was quite popular in Victorian Europe. Carrying Chinese porcelain from China to Europe was an industry for the seafaring mariners of the 16th. 17th, and 18th centuries. I guessed at it being some sort of short horn or trumpet from the shape, but I'm really not sure, please study the images. Overall it is 23cm long and 5cm at the widest point. The handle part is carved bone with applied cabochon turquoise stones. The end piece is carved horn which also once probably had some applied stones, these are now missing. As mentioned above there is some of the applied stone decoration missing. Also a small crack where the horn end joins the bone handle, and also a tiny crack to the bone right near the end or mouth piece. Weigh 147 Grams before packing. Antique BEADED INDIAN TURKISH AFGHANISTAN Triangular BEADWORK Bag Hat Scrap
Here is a really gorgeous old piece of scrap bead work that measures app. 13.25" x 9" in the form of a triangle. I don't know what it was used for. A hat, bag, or ceremonial piece. I have been told that the piece is older and that it was likely made in Afghanistan, Turkey, or India. I suggest it may have been part of a hat as it does not lay exactly flat. I have a photo of it raised on a pan and it seems to present in a way which flows nicely. There are actually two pieces here. The central area that includes the light blue beads and everything within that. Then there is an outside border of app. 2.25" that is outside of the light blue area. The sixth photo shows where these two piece have been stitched together. There is very bright pink string that is also used as a connection between beads, this piece lays properly when ... moreit is raised the way I have placed it on the pan. The beads are all glass. Some are solid colors and some are transparent.The beads that appear to be black or navy are not, these are stunning transparent cobalt glass. There are also ruby red and rich green transparent beads. The solid color are white, deep sky blue, light blue, orange and red. There is also a thin braided piece of gold metallic threads that are near the union of the two pieces. Eight colors of beads plus the bright pink string and a gold layer as well- 10 colors, beautiful. The back is lined with red cotton with a black polka-dot pattern. This has been stitched on to the the bead work. The threading used for stitching is not quite thread. It is some type of material that when emlarged looks a bit like wool. You can see the border with the string and other beads that these are not attached to to the inner area. When held to the light you can see the translucency of the red and blue beads that have an"S" design along the border. There is some old dirt in between the beads that I lightly brushed with a very fine paint brush. There are loose threads. And strings about, and the last photo shows a spot on

The body is tripped bark(possibly Birch) and the top has a wonderful carving of what look like two tortoises with flowers in between them. The heads and feet are stained black. The whole thing is held together with two strips of split wood that is pinned. Not sure of exact origins but probably South East Asian(Indonesian) Oceania or Polynesian. It has some age and would guess probably made around 1920-1950s? But that would be a guess. Certainly not new and has aged wear from handling etc. CONDITION: Good. Vintage Turquoise Ornate Trinket Pill jewelry Box Hand Crafted Native Indian ?
This intricate box measures 4 1/2 x 3 1/4 x 1 1/4 inches tall and appears to be made of brass because of its yellow gold color. It appears to have some silver tones with the red and blue inlaid stones that may be turquoise. It had some native American cards inside when I purchased this but it looks more mid eastern indian to me. Either way its a nice detailed piece.
