Possibly African, tribal hand carved coconut shell shoulder carrying travelling food box/ bag having rattan weave around the rim of the box& inset cover with naive carved designing around the exterior surfaces and suspended from a chord shoulder strap; we are no experts in such pieces not being sure of exact age or period. But this definitely has age to it as you can see from the patina in the photographs above. We're guessing that this would have been used whilst travelling or hunting by a tribesman to hold rice or other food.
