Antique Himalayan Tibetan Bhutan India Spear Pointed Sword Dagger Prev Stop Play Next This fine sword is from Sikkim. A landlocked Indian state located in the Himalayan Mountains. The state borders Nepal to the west, China's Tibet Autonomous Region to the north and east, and Bhutan to the east. The 17.20(43.25cm) blade is the fine type: thick with a good cutting edge and spear point. The back edge of the blade is 0.32(8.2mm) at the grip and 0.21(5.4mm) near the tip. The wooden hilt has fine, tightly wound silver wire. It has an open faced scabbard with decorative bands to hold the sword in place. The scabbard is missing one silver disk at the bottom. There are slight losses of wood on the grip near the guard on both sides. One side of blade has some light, stabilized pitting towards edge.

This silhouette is Extremely Rare! In all our collecting(over 30 years) And all our buying and selling(over 15 years) we have NEVER seen another like it. The subject is a black gentleman, probably English(as we purchased this in England) This man is certainly a gentleman, as he is wearing a white blouse, possibly a cravat, and a black jacket. Even to have his silhouette done in the 19thC, would have been expensive, so we think he was a man of some means. It is interesting to note that England abolished slavery in 1807. Antique Wooden Spice Container Measuring 9.25" 23.5cm) high Bit of a mystery item but without doubt it has been used as a spice container as it has a lovely rich smell of turmeric and some yellow staining to the interior! As to origin at a guess I would say North African although that is a guess and as for age then anyone's guess is as good as mine although I think it could have quite a bit of age due to the patina and interior usage. I purchased this from an artists estate who had previously used it as a prop for still life painting. His estate contained an eclectic mix of ancient artefacts through to contemporary design. Turned wood with a lid with finial. It looks at some point it has been decorated or covered in a protective outer layer. I assume to keep the content fresh? Antique/Decorative Water Pitcher Made of Animal Skin
Up for auction is a water container/bag. That looks like a pitcher, made of animal skin. The markings are faded yellow lines. Green, bluish and brown are predominant colors on its body. Around 12" tall and 10" wide.The other side is little bit dent, probably from being buried for a long time, which add to its antique character. I think it may be Afghan in origin. ~ 19th Century Tibetan Gentleman's Hat ~ A charming pillbox hat is completely inaid with cowrie shells and dark red glass beads. T urquoise chips adorn the white metal(silver) wirework medallions- a large one in the centre and 4 on the rim. ~ Cowrie Shells In Tibet ~ Being land locked and far from the ocean. Cowrie shells in Tibet are a source of prestige. ~ Dimensions ~ The hat has a height of 3.3 inches and a diameter of 8 inches(20.25cm) It weighs 630g. ~ Condition ~ The hat is in very good condition. A quick glance show that only a coupe of beads from the many thoushands are missing. All the cowrie shells are there. There is one small area of lose around a turquoise piece on the top medallion. This is a very old drum, with ropes attached so it can be worn& beaten. It is a superb. And obviously very old tribal drum. It would have been used in rituals for witchcraft& black magic, including possible pursuits such as: tribal war, head-hunting& cannibalism. I'm not certain of where this is from. But I would guess it is probably either African, or from PNG, or one of the Pacific Islands. It is old, has a very nice aged patina, shows detailed craftsmanship and is a good large size, being 48 cm(19" high, and having a 28 cm(11" diameter. Beautiful and large Ancient Indus Valley Pottery Water Vessel. Spectacular Anthropomorphic Spout. Geometric painting including double axe-head design well documented in Indus Valleys ancient artwork/symbols in black and umber pigment. There are banded sections of black pigment, both in the lower section and about the head of the vessel. This is a rare piece of ancient Indus Valley history. There is a chip to the rim approximately 3 cm long, there is still thick earth accretions more so to one side, I spent many long hours painstakingly slowly removing the accretions from one side to uncover more of the painting than could be seen when it came to my collection, and didn't feel both sides needed to be revealed as the other side will be the same.However,if you like the work and more to the point have the patience and time,then I can advise ... morehow to go about it. Very interesting antique tooled leather folder. It is dark brown leather and is a hard cover. The pattern is deeply tooled into the leather. It is some kind of lettering- possibly Greek but I am no expert. On the front is a figure that I think is holding scales- could it be Themis the greek goddess of Justice- again I am not sure in fact if anyone has any information I would appreciate if they could let me know. The cover has a wonderful patina of age about it both inside and out. It measures 13 x 10 inches when folded. A really super characterful item that I am sure will just get better and better with age. Most Kampilans have a laminated blade. This blade ends in a finely made pronged appendage(sundi) It has a finely carved handle with a rattan wrapped grip. The cross guard has a large thick iron hand protector. There is a small part of the alligators mouth missing from the handle and an old repair to the cross guard. A small amount of glue residue is visible. The blade is tightly joined the handle. There are nicks to edge of blade from its combat use. No scabbard. Thought maybe Native American. Everyone else thinks African? Really have no clue, but it is fantastic. Very tiny glass seed beads, in very bright colors. If you look at the face on the far right, they added more black beads around the eyeball; it looks like that guy is looking left at the other two. Rather amusing, I think, just that slight variation does it. You are buying it for what you think it is. The fabric is cotton, all in very nice condition. Measures 101" long and 3" wide where it is beaded, narrows to 1 1/2" on the sides. I am sure it was intended to fall almost to the knees. I am 5' 3" and it hangs to my ankles. The surface is not glazed and the plate is meant for decoration purposes only. The traditional colours for the ceramics produced in this area are red and yellow. And the motifs are inspired from waves, spirals, snakes and roosters. In 2012 the uniqueness of this Craftsmanship of Horezu ceramics was recognized and therefore introduced in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Horezu ceramics are a unique traditional craft. Handmade in the northern part of Vâlcea County. Romania, they reflect generations of knowledge and craftsmanship. Men and women generally divide the fabrication processes.
