Fine Quality pair of 2 Antique Iraqi Solid Silver and Niello Napkin Rings. Skillfully hand raised hexagonal pieces made by the master Mandean silversmiths of southern Iraq. Probably near Amarah. They are earlier. Finer examples dating to around 1930. The nielloed work is top quality. In all. On the two pieces there are 12 individual nielloed scenes associated with old southern Iraq. These include a plethora of ancient and traditional river craft and boats, a Grand Mosque, camels, date palms and the amazing reed buildings of the southern marsh arabs. Vtg 20th C. Persian Hand Chased Islamic Solid Coin Silver Napkin Rings - Pair
For auction. A pair of hand-chased coin silver napkin rings in a barrel form. They are beautiful with a floral surround that is very detailed. Each is different; however, they look nice together. The ring with a larger floral band is 1 5/8" wide and weighs 39.7 grams on my scale. The second ring, with two outer geometric borders, also measures 1 5/8" wide, and weighs 39.1 grams. The total silver weight is 78.8 grams. Found at an estate of a woman that lived in Iran during the mid-1950s. This is a no-reserve auction. Thanks for looking and good luck.

They each feature 2 fine quality individually nielloed scenes relating to old southern Iraq. That's 12 fine quality nielloed scenes in total. Depicted in fine detail are Great Mosques. The amazing ruins at Ctesiphon(capital of the ancient Persian Empire) date palms, reed beds and a multitude of various types of ancient boats and vessels sailing on the river Euphrates. The napkin rings are tactile and beautifully proportioned each at 46mm x 37mm and 22mm deep. They weigh a creditable combined 116 g or 4.1oz. These depict a variety of types of old sailing vessels and river craft on the river euphrates. The amazing reed buildings of the southern marsh arabs, camel caravans, date palms, reed beds, the amazing ancient Persian ruins at Ctesiphon, the Lion of Babylon and a Grand Mosque. Skillfully shaped into elliptical forms. They are tactile and beautifully proportioned with internal dimensions of 51mm x 34mm and heights of 26.5mm.
