About 2,000 B.C. Possibly an 18th or 19th Century Revival Imitative. SIZE/MEASUREMENTS: Diameter: 124 millimeters(5 inches) at top rim; 107 millimeters(4 1/3 inches) at belly; 64 millimeters(2 1/2 inches) at base. Height: 76 millimeters(3 inches) CONDITION: Excellent! Entirely intact except for a the normal potting blemishes associated with crude hand production; and assorted minor bumps and bruises consistent with wear due to ancient usage and then burial. DETAIL: A splendid. Magnificent, and rare smaller-sized painted earthenware bowl. Completely intact, the worst blemishes are a few chips in the paint– hardly unexpected of a bowl of this age which spent a significant portion of its life buried! Apparently attributable to pre-dynastic China, these bowls are generally not recovered intact, typically they are found shattered into fragments(shards) However this particular specimen was found intact. It’s about the size of a large grapefruit, and as you can see, the painted design is mostly intact. What’s really remarkable is that it is that despite its age it is nonetheless entirely intact, with no damage aside from the normal little bumps and bruises one would expect with an earthenware household utensil which was used and then buried. As well there are the normal blemishes(bumps, warts and acne pits) one expects with earthenware crudely fashioned by hand. Notwithstanding these blemishes(entirely normal for an ancient earthenware bowl) it has emerged from the soil in wonderful condition! Although it is probable that this specimen is much older. On a painted metal custom stand. Circa 1890- 1910. This example is of museum quality and features an elegant. Thin, and proportionate, realistically made, miniature kayak with the Inuit hunter in place. The boat is made of sealskin, sewn with sinew over a wooden frame. The hunting implements and double paddle are made of wood with bone tips. The Eskimo doll is of carved wood and wearing a realistic hand-sewn linen cloth parka. The carved features of the dolls face are extremely well-done. Giving this piece a personality and ... morelife-like quality. CONDITION: Excellent ethnographic condition as shown in the photographs. This silhouette is Extremely Rare! In all our collecting(over 30 years) And all our buying and selling(over 15 years) we have NEVER seen another like it. The subject is a black gentleman, probably English(as we purchased this in England) This man is certainly a gentleman, as he is wearing a white blouse, possibly a cravat, and a black jacket. Even to have his silhouette done in the 19thC, would have been expensive, so we think he was a man of some means. It is interesting to note that England abolished slavery in 1807. So that this person was probably never a slave. The silhouette itself, is Excellent, no damage, and the frame is in perfect, original condition. This beautifully hand-woven Market basket/bag(yesterday's answer to the tote bag) has been with me all of my 81 years. For the past 50 years it has been packed in a suitcase my grandmother took on a cruise in 1933 from San Francisco to New York. By way of the Panama Canal. It could have been purchased on that trip. But she also lived in San Diego off& on from 1916 to 1935, so I suppose it could have been an early item from Mexico. However, I now live in SD and have not seen anything like this from Mexico. The bag was no doubt done with vegetable dyes and the horizontal stripes are in natural. Red, terracotta, yellow ochre, olive green and another of grass green. Colors are better than in photos except for photo#2, which is accurate. It is made from an unidentified natural fiber that at first I thought to be hemp, but I'm not sure. ... moreThe 26-inch strap goes over the shoulder or cross-body. Being offered is a very rare sword that originates from the Paiwanese culture located on the island of Taiwan. This sword would date to the late 19th to early 20th century. Measured in its scabbard in a straight line this sword is 23 1/2" long. The handle is very nice. You have two large head carved to each side of the handle and then around the pommel you have 6 more head carved! The bottom of the handle with a zig zag pattern and then a metal ferrule. The scabbard is wood with an open face side and a resting block. The resting block have 4 heads carved into it. The scabbard then has two figures carved into it and then end of the scabbard ends in a snake head. The blade has a lovely deep brown patina. You are buying an antique Philippine sword and scabbard. It measures approximately 40" long sheathed by 2& 1/4" diameter. The blade measures approximately 21" long by 1&3/8" wide with semi sharp blade and has maker or tribe markings at hilt and blade spine neat tip. The scabbard is ornately hand carved with foliage and floral designs on sides and scales on edges. The handle has unique geometric patterns. The cross guard and throat ring are brass. It has been painted with a gloss black enamel that is fade from age and has some scuff marks and white paint transference in spots. The pommel has a small hole at center and probably has a brass decoration piece attached to it originally. Judging from the design and ornate carving and blade edge. I would guestimate it is from the early 1900's era and was likely a dress ... moresword. A very nice carved horn Inuit or Eskimo hand carved spoon or food u tensile with hand carved scrimshaw design to the bowl shows signs of usage ie lots of wear to the back.this came from a very good house clearance years ago and put in a drawer at my parents house.i would say this is at least 19thc probably older but ver hard to date 13cm long 5.5cm wide

As well as her distinctive strong facial features, that she is from a caste of dancers and performers often thought of as'Gypsies' some of whom still live a semi-nomadic lifestyle in the Thar desert region of Rajasthan, It is very unusual to find early erotic photographs from India, a real collectors item both as a piece of early photographic erotica, but also as a colonial ethnographic study of the'exotic native beauty'

Rare Antique Tibetan Dagger Laminated Blade Not Sword Prev Stop Play Next This is a very rare Tibetan dagger. The ten and half inch long blade is of laminated steel in the pattern known as“Hair Pin folding” The handle is of fine quality cow horn that shows striations in layering. The iron rivets and bands around handle give the appearance of a face on the top of the handle. The scabbard is leather over wood with ornate metal mounts. This dagger probably dates to the early to mid- 19 th century or may even be 18 th c. The condition is excellent. There is a minor horn worm hole near the guard and the horn has lifted every so slightly on one side of the handle. The dagger is in“as found” condition(no cleaning) All original with a faded tag on one side of the handle. ANTIQUE RUSSIAN IMPERIAL ART NOUVEAU ADVERTISING TIN LITHO TEA CONTAINER RARE
A JACOUTA& CO ODESSA tin lithograph tea box caddy container. Beautiful example of a Russian lithograph tea tin. This Imperial Russian tea tin is an Art Nouveau gem. It likely dates to the late 1800s. And it has some wear and patina to show for it. The tin has a domed hinged lid with top and four sides illustrated by lithographs of Russian peasant life. There is an interesting panel of male Army recruits going out to war.The color scheme is muted blues and greens, and the scenes on the base are pastoral and country. Approximate size of tin is about 3” by 2.25” by about 2.25” tall. There is some wear, rust, and marks, both inside and outside the tin. Also some dents on the lid. This container is very nice and shows great color and design. Overall wonderful condition for its age of over 100 years.
