London, Edinburgh, Paris. Waist width 14 ½” at smallest setting to 16” at largest. Two waist buckles and 2 ½” belt loops. Length 24 ½” There are some very small holes to front as shown in pictures. Some have been mended very nicely. These small faults don’t really distract from this lovely piece. My son used this kilt for a number of years and is used to swing very nicely. Matching plaid. This auction is for a large 1.5" vintage 1940s/50s. Beautifully made Scottish solid sterling silver Luckenbooth(or intertwined hearts) brooch made by Celtic Art Industies. Celtic Art Industries(C.A.I. was formed in 1945 by Hamish Dawson-Bowman to carry on the tradition of Celtic Arts begun during the previous generation on the Scottish Island of Iona by silversmiths Alexander& Euphemia Ritchie. Dawson-Bowman had strong ties with Iona and was a great admirer of the Ritchie's work; his workshops near Glasgow used many of the Ritchie's original designs and his silversmiths included John Hart. Iain MacCormick and Malachy Gormley, who all went on to become well known themselves as jewelers in the Iona tradition. Much of the C.A.I. jewelry was sold on Iona through the Highland Home Industries shop managed by Iain MacCormick's ... moremother. The luckenbooth brooch is a traditional Scottish love token often given as a betrothal or wedding brooch. It might be worn by a nursing mother as a charm to help her milk flow. And/or be pinned to a baby's clothing to protect it from harm. It was known as a witch-brooch by people using it to save children from the evil eye. The name comes from the luckenbooths of Edinburgh where jewellery and trinkets used to be sold. Luckenbooth was a Scots word for a lockable stall or workshop. The Edinburgh booths were situated on the Royal Mile and were the city's first permanent shops, going back to the 15th century, and initially housing mainly silversmiths and goldsmiths.wikipedia) This luckenbooth has a lovely free flowing form and one heart is finished with a hand-chased decoration. Made in the 1880's and would have been a centre piece in a Victorian fireplace. a rare opportunity to acquire a violin by the Inverness fiddle- legend DONALD RIDDELL. full size( 14" LOB) Blond varnish, fully adjustable wittner-style tailpiece, ebony board, black painted tuners( probably rosewood) Aubert bridge, fiited with strings and ready to go. Label reads" Donald Riddell Inverness 1975" Condition is good. Clearly this fiddle has been used, with one or two edge chips and a little wear to corners& button, some rosin residue and also cork residue where a chin-rest has been fitted( chin-rest not included) but the whole instrument feels strong and set-up& ready to play. There is a very small hairline crack appearing above the lower ear of the right F-hole, measuring approx 15mm, which just needs some glue running in( see pic 11) otherwise we can see no cracks or repairs. Supplied in a strong plastic ... morecase which is for transport only as the catches don`t work properly. we acquired this instrument around 6 years ago. From a former member of the Elgin Strathspey& Reel society, but it has alas remained largely unplayed since then. Rare multicolor pottery bowl from Scotland with three images: image of Robert Burns and the words" BURNS CENTENARY 1896" beneath the image. Robert Burns cottage Burns mausoleum in Dumfrees The bottom of the bowl has the 1890s thistle mark of the Campbellfield Pottery in Glasgow. With"TRADE MARK" around the top of the thistle, and"C.P. Co. LT D" GLASGOW" in banners across the thistle. This bowl measures 7 1/2 inches(19 cm) in diameter at the widest point. It is 4 7/8 inches(12.3 cm) tall. It is in excellent condition, showing wear and use consistent with its age. There is some wear to the gold decorations and overall light crazing. Fine 18thC Scottish Silver Cream Jug 1796 Edinburgh! This wonderful cream jug is Scottish silver and has a nice form with open handle. It is decorated with hand chased designs along the rim and base with a shield on the front beneath the spout. It has Edinburgh hallmarks with the date letter for 1796. It weighs 6.07 Troy ounces and measures approximately 6 + ½ inches overall to the top of the handle by 4 + ¾ inches across including the handle and spout. It is in excellent condition for its age. Long (13.5") Scottish Toddy / Punch Ladle marked WC (William Constable)
Offering a Scottish toddy ladle. Marked for Edinburgh with sterling standard mark. Date mark is a W. Dating to 1828(see Marks) The maker appears to be William Constable(WC in oblong oval) Condition is excellent but the finial is missing. Total length is approximately 13.5" serving bowl is 2.5" wide by 5/8" deep. Total weight is just under 50grams. Handle is composed of bone or twisted baleen. No dents or deep scratches. He makes them, one at a time. This is not a factory reproduction product, but the real thing. I don't care if I sell it, and if you do buy, it is non refundable.
