This is a lovely figure of a snake charmer! Hand carved from faux ivory/ox bone and probably originating from India. The base is polished horn and there is part of an original sticker on the underneath. Approx 9cm long and 5.5cm high. Great detail. Particularly of the snake charmers face! Antique Rag Dung Tibetan Trumpet or Dung Chen Horn Check out this incredible piece. I recently picked this item up at an estate sale. Can you believe the great condition this horn is in. All the pieces are there. Even the strap hooks on the large piece of the horn are still there. Just no strap itself. The horn is in great condition. Very minor dings and dents. The end of the horn/trumpet is just in immaculate condition. No maker's marks on this one. The brass decorative end pieces for the joins are very nicely detailed. Some information regarding them and pics of similar ones below here in a different font; Trumpets and Horns The rag-dun is a trumpet-type instrument used in special ritual by an esoteric sect of the Karma Kaputa monks in Tibet. The largest form has a length of about sixteen feet and sounds the drone or"aum" ... morefor chants. There are rag-duns of lesser lengths of which the one shown here is the shortest. These are used for higher overtones. This striking instrument is made of copper and used in rituals by providing a drone for chanting. The horn has shallow cup mouthpiece that resembles the western bugle and is capable of producing different tones. The most spectacular Tibetan ritual instruments are long copper rag-dung trumpets. For sale an antique carved wooden powder horn/ flask. The body is made of two halves that are hollowed out and then glued together. The piece is carved and given a protective coating. It has the original stopper that securely locks when inserted and twisted. It measures approx. 9.5" overall in length. I do not know the name of the wood or the country of origin. I guessed at it being some sort of short horn or trumpet from the shape, but I'm really not sure, please study the images. Overall it is 23cm long and 5cm at the widest point. The handle part is carved bone with applied cabochon turquoise stones. The end piece is carved horn which also once probably had some applied stones, these are now missing. As mentioned above there is some of the applied stone decoration missing. Antique traditional hungarian scratched horn salt-cellar from 1890
Original traditional hungarian salt-cellar in very good condition. The body made from bull-horn. There's a very detailed scratched work on it filled by dark wax. The year of birth(1890) and the name of the maker(Jano) are also scratched on the body. The bottom and the top was made from wood and there's a simple carving on the top. Sheperds made these works in the 19th Century while they was taking care for their animals. Very rare piece only for ethnographic collectors. Antique Animal-horn Ceremonial Spoon
This is an antique. Hand carved decorative spoon made from solid animal horn. I purchased it in the mid 1980s at an estate sale. The couple who acquired it traveled a lot and this was one of their acquisitions. The spoon is almost exactly 7" long and is in excellent condition. There are no defects, as horn is a very sturdy material. This spoon fits in the hand very nicely and has a pleasing shape and feel to the cup end when eating with it. There is a story I was given regarding this item- I'm not sure how accurate it is though. You can see that there is a little man seated at the handle end. He is wearing a loin cloth and has long, straight hair, indicating an Asian origin. Also notice the set of horns inside the ring part. The story goes that the little man was a nature spirit who rode on top of the buffalo that pulled the plow ... moreused in cultivating the fields. The nature spirit brought fertility to the land, but on one condition. That was that during special occasions he would be able to taste the human's delicious food when this special spoon was used. I was warned that it is not advisable to let the little nature spirit have too much otherwise he might get lazy!

Qing Dynasty, Late 19th or Early 20th Century. SIZE/MEASUREMENTS: Height: 72 millimeters(2 7/8 inches) including stopper) Breadth: 41 millimeters(1 2/3 inches) Thickness: 26 millimeters(1+ inches) CONDITION: Exceptionally good. Almost perfectly preserved. A little wear consistent with any household item which is 100 years old. Not flawless, but certainly in an excellent state of preservation. Stopper intact. DETAIL: A very cute. Splendidly preserved bone and horn snuff bottle so wonderfully characteristic of late Qing Dynasty artwork. ... moreIt was entirely crafted by hand, from the cutting and polishing of the bone vessel and dyed horn base and top, to the fine engraving and painting. The snuff bottle is entirely intact, and the condition of the snuff bottle, including the intact stopper, is virtually perfect. There is of course a little minor wear- we're not saying it is as when new. But this is as good as one can reasonably expect of a bone snuff bottle somewhere around 100 years old. It's not perfect, but it is about as close to perfect as you will ordinarily find of an authentic 19th(or early 20th) century snuff bottle like this, and there are no repairs. Of course realistically one would expect some blemishes of a personal article such as this after being used for a century, and there are no surprises here except that there are so few blemishes. There are a few blemishes. Again really not noticeable, and quite typical of hand-crafted snuff bottles of the late Ming Qing Dynasty. All of these blemishes are virtually unnoticed- but we're playing critic in the name of full disclosure. Nepalese Kukri Knife with Patinated Stag Horn Hilt, Sheath & 2 Small Knives
A well patinated nice old handmade kukri(khukri) knife retaining an old leather over wood sheath and two small utility knives. The horn hilt of the kukri has an elliptical cross section with an iron cap and is decorated in the typical manner with concentric rings. The bolster is made of iron with a nicely detailed cho at the forte. The back of the 12 1/2 inch long blade is a robust 5/16ths of an inch in thickness and there are three narrow fullers along the back of the forte area that opens onto slightly concave blade faces. Scattered small forging flaws reassure about its age and handmade status. Scattered light pitting of the blade is present. The old sheath shows some cracking of its leather cover and is worn through along the sides where the two small utility knives insert. Additional empty slots for other utensils are also present. The ... morelarger of the two utility knives appears to have lost its cap. But is otherwise in good condition with only light pitting. The smaller by-knife has a cross-hatched design and no cap and is in similar condition. Lew considered this kukri to date from 1900-1918.
