SIZE/MEASUREMENTS: Diameter: 31 millimeters. Depth: 14 millimeters. NOTE: Can also be mounted onto a or into a(see below) CONDITION: Very good. Artifact is of sound integrity. Very light porosity(surface pitting caused by contact with earth while buried) Professionally conserved. DETAIL: This is a very handsome. Decorative piece of ancient Roman silver ornamentation. It was probably an ornamental appliqué for a belt or strap, though it could have also been an appliqué for a piece of furniture, wooden chest, or table implement. It’s hard to be certain, but it does appear as if it might have been originally fastened onto a leather strap or belt. In any event the appliqué was discarded or lost almost two thousand years ago. It shows minimal wear, and minimal porosity(surface pitting caused by burial in caustic or acidic soil conditions) Notwithstanding this evidence of usage in the ancient world. It is in wonderful condition, the engraving very sharp, and the artifact is quite handsome. It is the type of decorative ornamentation one would have expected to find on a belt or strap employed by a Roman Soldier. Many pieces of equipment and weaponry were carried on the person of a Roman Legionnaire, many held in place with belts(and buckles) and such ornamental appliqués were quite popular. ATTRIBUTION: Roman Provincial Moesia. First Century A.D. SIZE/MEASUREMENTS: Length: 79 millimeters(3 1/8 inches) Width: 69 millimeters(2 5/8 inches) Height: 22 millimeters(7/8 inch) CONDITION: Good integrity. All original with no repairs. Some very hard and stubborn alkaline soil deposits inside of bowl. Moderate wear around fill hole consistent with use in the ancient world. DETAIL: This is a well preserved terracotta oil lamp dated to the first century A.D. Its origin is Roman Provincial Moseia. Present-day Bulgaria. The top surface of the oil lamp portrays an impressed braided pattern around the rim of the fill hole, a little indistinct, but basically a geometric pattern of a chain of small rectangles. There’s also a trademark of some sort on the underside surface of the pedestal. It too is a bit indistinct, but it seems to be a circle with a two characters inside the circle. It’s not possible really to determine whether they might have been letters or merely figures. But clearly the pedestal contains a trademark. It was not uncommon for the artisans who produced these pieces to leave some sort of“trade mark” on the underside of the pedestal so as to identify it as their produce. The style is very characteristic of the lamps manufactured for domestic use in the Roman Provinces. As can be seen the design elements of the vessel are even after the passage of almost 2.000 years, by and large intact intact. Though by no means rare, it is uncommon to find such a nice design in such a well-preserved state– whole and relatively intact with no major breakage or repairs. Here's a great and unique antique Tibetan coin purse. I had never seen one like it so I asked several dealers around here to find out what it was. Many said it is Tibetan in origin and over 100 years old! The metal used appear to be brass and silver. The center proudly displays a beautiful rich red coral piece. It measures 5 inches wide by 3 1/4 tall. Appears to have been oiled at some point. A great conversation piece and one that still could be worn and used today. I hear these are hard to come by! Offering up this fantastic antique sterling or coin silver Brandy Ladle for bids here. Not sure of the maker or the exact age of this as it is not marked. However. It is Definately Old, and Guaranteed to be silver. It is typical of brandy ladles of the Georgian period. The craftsmanship is Outstanding. Measures 5.75" long. Bowl area measures 3- 1/8" wide x 2- 1/8" x 1" deep. Features a Wonderful Bird on a Stump Armorial mark as shown. Unfortunately, it is missing the rest of the handle. It would have likely been made of wood, and about 4" 6" long. A new handle could Absolutely be made and reattached. Other than that, it has just minor dings and scratches. Great addition to Any antique silver collection.

What unbelievably elegant pieces! These spoons are well over 100 years old and yet their lines are clean and the silver sparkles beautifully! They have an elegant feel in ones hands. The spoons measure 8 3/8" in length. Bowls are 3" long by 1 5/8" wide. They are engraved with the initials"AMC" The troy ounce weight for all three together is 3.740. Theodore Oskamp started his silversmith business in Cincinnati. Ohio, in 1842. In 1852, his brother Clemens started working for Theodore. Upon Theodore's death in 1854, the business went to Clemens. Here is a beautiful. Antique, engraved, gold-washed, coin-silver, dessert serving spoon by Greenwood& Bro. This is a gorgeous, one of a kind' engraved spoon- 9 1/2" long and 2 3/4" wide. Gold washing is still evident on the bowl(front and back) but not on the handle. There are no monograms, major flaws, or scratches- just the normal wear marks of a 100+ year old serving spoon that has been handled with care. Take a look at the engravings on the inside of the bowl- they are uniquely beautiful. The spoon weighs over 75 grams. Early Antique 18th Century Dated 1788- German Bible with Coin Silver Latches& Leather Binding The antique German bible from the 18th century is dated 1788 on one of the interior front pages.The hand painted interior page has a decorative floral pattern and old German text with a 1788 date within a border of vibrant red and rich green tempera pigment. The early bible has hand-made coin silver corners. Engraved hinges and decorative coin silver latches that are hallmarked on the inside"12" indicating German coin silver) along with“IPS” EV” and“B” There is a hand written note in German script affixed to the first page. The decorative early handmade endpapers have an unusual iridescent metallic copper floral pattern. The leather bound covers of the book have scratching and scuffing, and some of the leather is missing from the spine ... morebinding- typical and to be expected with a book of this age. The silver hinges and edges are tarnished, and the latches still operate properly. The inside of the book is in good condition, with a few spots of mold and yellowing of pages. The front cover measures 6 ¾” high x 4 ¼” wide. Letter A mint mark, a bee Mint Director's mark and an anchor engraver's mark. There were 1,185,100 in circulation and it is 83.5% silver. The mounting or cutter is mostly sterling and the total weight is 43.5 grams. It is an interesting collector's item. Other than some information I found on the internet. This is an Arizona Sales Tax Token. These tokens were made in order to give change for sales tax. Often when sales tax was calculated. The total included fractions of a cent. If someone purchased an item and the total did not work out to a whole number, the seller ... morewould round the price to the nearest cent. If the price was rounded up. The seller would give change with tax tokens to even out the fraction of a cent that was overpaid by the customer. If the price was rounded down. The customer would include some tax tokens in the payment to make up for the fraction of a cent they owed to the seller. Pretty neat. Huh! The only problem was people didn't like having to carry around two different sets of coins, and different states issued different coins, so eventually states stopped using them. Arizona coins were issued between 1937 and 1954. I'm not sure when this specific coin was issued. But it's pretty old. It's also in really good shape and has the state seal of Arizona on it. Original cast iron mechanical"Organ Bank" by Kyser and Rex. Place a coin on the monkey's plate and turn the crank. He deposits coin, tips his hat, and a bell rings! Metal rods holding monkey in place are replaced. He moves around a little bit, but he is secure. The wire linking the crank to the monkey's arms is replaced. It's working well. However it's possible it may come unhooked from the monkey's arms and would need to be reattached. It's a very simple mechanism and is easy to fix. The bank is in great shape and is all original accept for what's mentioned above. It has the original coin trap. It is missing the key, but the lock can be picked quite easily.
