There is a lot of info on google about McCrory's Five& Dime History! Just think how many little kids had their candy weighted on this scale. Just think of their excitement as they watched and waited for the clerk to weigh the candy and give it back to them! Unfortunately the scale has seen better days! It appears to be in fine working order but it really could use a good cleaning. We are not going to attempt to do anything to this scale, we'll leave that all up to the buyer. We do not want to take a chance on damaging any part of this lovely antique! The scale is so old that the labels are all worn or have rubbed off, over time. There is one large label that was on the main arm of the scale and the only text we can make out is"York County, PA" There is no info on the manufacturer of the scale. The only thing we can see is where you read the weight, EXACT WEIGHT printed across the top. We did some research on the Exact Weight company and seen other scales that are almost identical. We are 99% certain this scale was made by Exact Weight but please realize that there is a chance we could be incorrect. We are not scale collector's or experts. There a crack inside the right door that does not show when the door is closed. The simple straight leg design is typical Arts& Crafts. The lower left leg of the cabinet is a little bowed. Very nice antique rolling store/library ladder manufactured by G.A. Milbradt& Co. St. Louis, MO. Patented March 8. 1892. The ladder is in very good, well used condition.strong and sturdy. The original finish has worn from most of the wood to a nice weathered patina. Of course, it could be refinished if desired. The original brass tag is attached as well as all the iron and metal pieces which work fine. A close look at the individual steps shows the years of use which has caused a slight indentation where shoes have worn down the wood. If you were VERY wealthy, you would also have an ice box in the parlor. This would be used by the servants to attend to the family and guests. Because it would be seen by the public, it was made fancy and ornate to be a part of the furniture décor of the room. This is what I am selling here, what was during the time called a parlor ice box. The original brass label remains on this piece indicating this model was called the NATIONAL. I believe it was manufactured by the Belding Company. It is of the highest quality and style. I have had some really great and unusual quartered quarter sawn oak ice boxes over the years. Some fancy parlor ice boxes and a few salesman samples. This falls into the category as unusual in that it is very small; smaller than an apartment box but larger than a salesman sample. I am guessing it was a guest room(boarding rooming house) example or maybe for a camper. Just a guess. Regardless. It is very cool. Measuring just 26 inches tall, 17 wide, and about 14 deep. And yet, not so very long ago, in the early 20th century, a Victor Talking Machine was the state of the art music player. From our research on the serial number on the tag, VV-IV A 390625, we believe that this Victor Talking Machine was manufactured in 1918, and is a model with an internal horn, but no slats in the cabinet. This model has two doors to swing open and reveal the interior horn, a great space saver after the morning glory horn of previous models. Don't you love that cabinet makers were employed to build these cases? You can still crank this up and it runs perfectly, as far as we can tell. The reproducer is still in place, with all of the weight those old arms used to play the records of the day. This measures approx. 16" by 18 ½" by 11" The felt on the turntable has picked up discoloration and some worn spots, and one screw hole on the deck is empty- the screw is missing. Interestingly. Beautiful Victorian era- 18th century cradle. It was made in America near Lancaster Pennsylvania. This rocking cradle is definitely hand made. And most likely Amish built. Notice per the attached pictures, the ornate curves& designs that express the true workmanship of the maker. It measures as follows: 38" L x 30" W x 24" H and weighs approximately 40 lbs. This chair has been in the family for over 75 years(possible 100 years) And was given to me by my Grandfather, who operated a furniture caneing factory in Boston, MA. I'm not sure of the origin country(France or England? the style(Baroque? or even exact year produced(pre or post 1920? but I'm confident it's an original production. The chair is in good condition. Although it has a few defects. The right arm is detached, and the caneing is tearing apart from the seat. The chair is showing normal signs of fading and scratches from normal wear and tear. But with huge appeal and functionality. This gorgeous piece is definitely antique, and we would date it to c1900. Constructed of oak. This piece is beautifully proportioned, and ... morehas loads of features that give it great appeal. Mellow in tone and with its original patina, this washstand or dressing table features a base with three lockable drawers, each finished with beautiful handles. The centre section of the washstand has a marble surface. In white with grey vein lines, and an additional raised marble shelf standing on slightly shaped marble supports. The mirror section at the top is large and impressive, with a simple timber surround. The washstand presents with a well polished natural patina, without artificial shine. This wonderfully versatile antique piece measures approximately 96cm wide. And stands approximately 186cm high. The marble top is 85cm high and 46cm deep. Condition is very good- the piece is largely untouched. And presents as a nice example of quality craftsmanship from the past. The only condition issues to mention is a crack to the left-side marble support, and a mirror which is in relatively poor condition due to age-related foxing.
