Vtg Antique 1908 Yawman & Earb Metal Card Cabinet File Drawer Brass Handles
Description All metal with faux wood-grain paint and brass handle. Painted label on the front. Very heavy and well constructed. Good condition with age appropriate wear. It has some paint loss. A few scratches, and some surface rust on the back end. The label is mostly intact. The brass has the appropriate patina you'd expect on a piece this old. One of the rods has two patent dates on it. The latest being 1908. It has one card clip. But may be missing another. The knob on the bottom spins one of the rods, and appears to do nothing at all except spin. I think that another card clip might have attached to it and was moved or locked by the knob on the bottom. The switch on the top holds the drawer in place and works great. Measures 16 1/2 in. deep. 11 1/2 in wide, and stands 7 1/2 in. tall. I took photos with and without flash. This well-cared-for California Mission style hand-painted dresser. Was purchased from a high-end antique shop in Sacramento, CA in 1990. It has since graced one of the guestrooms and has only been used a few times, so it is in just beautiful vintage condition. The tag from the antique store is still on the back of the mirror and it says"Monterey Bedroom Set" That is the only marking or signage I can find on any of the furniture. It is all made out of pine(with a light secondary wood inside the drawers) so is fairly light weight, and shows the wonderful knots and grain of the pine wood. The hand painting and carving is just charming, in muted greens, yellows, and coral. the handles on the dresser are carved wood and the apron of the dresser has beautiful detail as does the dresser top and all the pieces really. I love the beige, ... moreblonde, light tan wood stain. There are very few nicks and scratches, it is almost vintage pristine. The back of the dresser shows some water stains. I don't know what this is from, as it was there when I bought it and doesn't show as the back is against the wall. This set includes the headboard(I have it on a queen bed at this time, but it was org. made for a full; but can also be used on a queen) the headboard is currently secured to the wall with two screws. If you want to buy rails for it, the slots are there. There are even queen conversion metal frames that you can buy. The mattress and bedding is not included in the sale. Vtg MidCentury Antique Wagon Wheel / Spinning Wheel Magazine Rack Mahogany Eames
Great example of late 1950s early 1960s Colonial/ Early American. I'm sure the Sears and Montgomery Ward catalogs were full of these. Don't know who the maker or seller of this was. But it has survived because it was well made and well taken care of. Very sure the wood is mahogany. The base is several boards tongue and grooved together. In picture#4 you can see where two boards are trying to separate. If you have wood glue and a clamp this is easily fixed. Personally. I would leave it alone. It will be shipped with the legs removed. This was with a mirror(that was sold separately) that was dated around the late 1800's. A well made solid piece of furniture that can be used in an entryway or as a Trophy Shelf or for Clocks or placed below a Wall Clock or Mirror. As you can see in the pictures the nails are very old. I can't tell you a lot more about it other than it looks like it could be hung either way. The hanging hooks look like they had it hung with the carved backing going above the shelf. But it could be easily hung the other way. With the ornate carving below the shelf, making a deeper shelf space. The color of the finish is a dark brown(I would describe it as Walnut) And I am unsure of what kind of wood it is made ... moreof. Some of the photos make it look like Cherry, but it is not reddish, it is brown. The Dimensions are: 33" long by 5 1/2" high and 5 1/4" deep. the shelf Space would be 4 1/2" if the ornate back was pointed up. This is a very solid antique shelf with minor scratches. The piece has some cracks to the wood- these are near the center of the rack- and show some glue on the back.
