The tone is brilliant. The soundboard and bridges are flawless,and the ivory key tops are almost perfect. I've replaced the tuning pins throughout the piano, along with installing new bass strings, promising tuning stability for years to come. The walnut cabinet. Antique Empire Style Piano Stool Six Sided Mahogany Base with Upholstered Seat and Fringe Great looking piano stool for your home. Recently picked this piece up at an auction. The legs and base that hold the seat seem to be made out of mahogany. Check out how well fitted together the center multiple side wood pieces are. And just a beautiful look. Finish on the wood is still in good condition. I am not certain that the base was the original one with the wood seat component. I see other screw holes there that tell me that the pieces were not together originally and the stain on bottom of support board does not go all the way over to the mahogany column. So suspect the stool has been pieced together at some juncture. Still, a nice looking and functioning piece. The spinner adjustment still works well to adjust the height of the stool. About the brackets: The piano brackets and stem have been stored in an old joinery workshop at West Kempsey for decades by its owner. And were due to be tossed out to the local tip during a pre-sale cleanup, that is until I salvaged them and volunteered to list them on ebay. Victorian Eastlake Antique Magaazine Music Piano Organ Stand
Offered for auction is this very nice Victorian Eastlake music/magazine/newspaper stand. I want to be clear and up front that this is a married piece. The top and bottom were found separately missing whatever has been attached to them and I put the two together to give the pieces a new life of their own. It is very stable and heavy. It is solid walnut. Both sides fold open and are held in place by chains. Two appear to be original. Two appear to be replacements. Both fold out panels are decoratively carved with an Eastlake/Aesthetic design. The hinges on the side panels work fine and are tight. There is an old repair to one top corner that could have been more expertly done, but is secure and does not affect the function of the piece(I did not do this repair, it was already done when I purchased the top) A couple of the corners of the base ... moreof the stand also have a little wear, but nothing that detracts. The Mathushek Piano Company was one of the most advanced and foreword-thinking piano manufacturers of all time. In the 1930’s era. The Mathushek firm went against the norm and introduced a line of tiny square grand pianos called the “Spinet Grand”�. These contemporary instruments were based on the same general design of Mathushek’s 19th Century square grand pianos, but they were redesigned in style and appearance so that they would fit well with modern décor. The Spinet Grand piano enjoyed moderate success during the 1930s and 1940s, but was never a substantial seller. They are quite rare today. This Mathushek Spinet Grand was built in 1937. And is known as the “Early American”� model. Note the beautiful octagon legs and carved moldings. Despite its small size, this piano has quite ... morea bit of volume and power. An original matching bench is included. This Piano does need a string replaced and a good tuning or take on a restoration of this beautiful fine piece musical history it will definitely hold it's value, fully restored these piano's sell for $20,000. The exterior case does need some attention, as it has minor scratches and some orange peel on the one side where someone tried to varnish over the existing finish. However, this Piano would surely grace any home as it has ours. Because of its unique size and shape. Transport is much easier then a regular Baby Grand.
