But it appears to be mid 20th century, probably post World ... moreWar II. I am suspecting 50s or 60s, but I am no expert on vintage furniture provenance(Antiques Roadshow lingo again. could be older. It is solid wood construction with a laminated desk top on wood. The steel hardware and wood fittings are all in good shape and the chair is tight and serviceable. Its original finish shows obvious signs of wear and regular use and was probably actually in a public school environment in its day. There is still some gum residue(though any actual gum"wads" have long since been removed) under the seat and table! It measures about 32" high overall with a 17 1/2" wide by 17" deep seat. 17" seat to floor height. As big as the seat is I suspect it could have been in a High School or even college study or lecture hall, probably not a lower grade elementary school. An average adult can fit in this one just fine. Would be awkward to pack for shipping, but I can arrange private carrier blanket wrap shipping if you'd like to send me details of your location for an estimate(range is usually about $80-150 depending on destination) Otherwise local pickup in Milwaukee/Waukesha area is free. It does have a lot of surface scratches on it from use ... moreover the years. The desk is made of solid wood, although I am not sure what type of wood it is, and it is finished in a dark veneer. It was made by Best Buy Office Equipment. This is not the Best Buy stores of today, but was a small one store operation. I am unsure of the exact age of the desk but I would guess that it dates to the 1950's or possibly into the early 1960's. It has had a keyboard slide out platform added to it that came from Staples. I do not know when this was added, but it was most likely fairly recently. The height beneath this pull out where the chair would go is 24.5" high. The desk is 29.5" tall, 20" deep, 60" wide.

Vintage Furniture: Antique Wood Writing Desk- Cherry- 2 x 4 ½ Ft. This neat old desk is in the Queen Anne style. It’s all wood with solid cherry and cherry veneers. And brass hardware. I got it from an antique store about 20 years ago. The store owner said he brought it back from a buying trip to England. It’s very functional and cool looking. It can be used for all kinds of purposes in addition to a normal writing desk, including dressing table, computer table, side board, etc. The only reason I am selling is that we are redecorating after moving to a new house and need something completely different. The top measures 24" 2' deep. 54" 4" 6" wide, and 29" tall. There is a 23" wide center drawer with a built in pencil tray. There are two, 12" drawers(one on each side) There are two, 18.5" wide ... moreslide out writing extension boards that extend another 12" out of each end. Most of the wear on the piece was there when I bought it. But there were a few more unavoidable dings of my own along the way. There is a general collection of small nicks or marks, and a small piece of veneer missing on the bottom front edge. Any such issues are easily reparable, but that was just never anything I needed to do when I was using it. Now that I’m redecorating anyway, it’s easier to just price the piece on the low side and let the new owner take care of things as they wish. I can’t really ship this due to size and weight. But you can pick it up in Bean Station, Tennessee(less than 1 hour NE of Knoxville and 1 hour from the Smoky Mountains. a nice place to visit if you haven’t been here! Wood Desk - 1940's - Walnut - 2 ½ x 5 Ft.
Vintage Furniture: Wood Desk- 1940's- Walnut- 2 ½ x 5 Ft. This neat old desk is all wood with solid walnut and walnut veneers. I got it from an antique store almost 40 years ago. It’s extremely functional and very cool looking. The only reason I am selling is that we are redecorating after moving to a new house and need something completely different. The top measures 30" 2' 6" deep. 58" 4" 10" wide, and 29" tall. There is an eased edge strip all around the top. The sides and back extend down about 23" where they meet the leg pedestals. It’s a full wrap around design in back. There is a leg pedestal on each side and all four feet are adjustable. The drawers are dove tailed with wood pulls about 5" long. There is one double size drawer for files plus five single size drawers. All the drawers ... morehave moveable inserts to create different sized storage spaces, plus one pencil tray with several compartments. There are two slide out writing extension boards(one on each side) with small metal pulls. There is probably less wear than would be expected for it’s age. But normal signs of age and use are unavoidable. There are some ancient marks that were there when I got it, and a few more dings of my own along the way. The biggest condition issue is damage from the movers during the relocation mentioned above. a few pieces of veneer are missing from the lower right side. This is all easily reparable when I had an expert look at it, and I absolutely would have done so except for the redecorating previously mentioned. Instead, I’ll just price it on the low side and let the new owner take care of things as they wish. I can’t really ship this due to size and weight. Heavy Antique OAK WOOD & BRASS DESK DRAWER SHELF Worn, Weathered STURDY
This entire piece is very worn in every way yet remains stable and sturdy. This was originally a desk drawer to an old oak desk. The out side is oak and brass, I think the inside is pine. This measures 30" x 12" x 8" and is just about 10 pounds. I would say it is 19th century with much patina. Also as worn as it is there is no mold, no smells or anything repulsive about it. And they said this model was from the early 1940's. It’s all wood(oak, they said) except for nice solid metal hardware underneath. It has all four original casters and is otherwise in all original condition. It swivels and tilts. It has a nice contoured, carved seat. very comfortable. There is a label underneath saying: W. H. Gunlocke Co, Wayland, NY. It is very solid and in the same condition now as when I got it, with normal wear as expected on such a piece.
