NICE Large Eastlake Victorian Antique Oak Plate Teacup Rack Display Wall Shelf
This is a fantastic antique two tier plate shelf with a row of 6 hooks to hang teacups. The shelf is large and heavy(over three feet long) measuring 40" L x 6 1/2" W x 26" H. It is very old. Was handmade and has outstanding detail with floral accents and curved sides, accent spindles all around, scalloped bottom and sides, narrow strips of wood that cover the panel seems on the front, a covered top piece with a scalloped front held up by two turned pillars. Both tiers have a strip of wood running the length of the shelf for the bottom edges of plates to rest against, holding them in an upright position. The wood is in very good condition with a natural finish and slightly darkened aged patina. All joints(including all spindles) are tight, and there is little surface wear other than typical age-related issues(light scuffing, ... morescratching, shallow dings, a few stains, etc) Where the scalloped bottom edge comes to a point on the left hand side. There is a piece of wood missing that is partially obscured by the side piece that covers that area(look at the main photo and compare the bottom left and right corners to see the difference) There are several holes drilled in the back panel that were used to screw the shelf to the wall; there are no other hangers. It projects from the wall 4 1/2" Conditions. There are two spots on the top shelf that had damage sometime in its long life. Antique English Barley Twist Golden Oak Mirror Backsplash Sideboard Buffet $500
The base has two large center drawers with dovetail joinery and paneled doors on either side with decorative floral shaped accents. The left door opens to reveal a space with one shelf. The space inside the right door has no shelves, so is great for storing tall items; I used this buffet as a bar for many years because the right cupboard was tall enough to accommodate bottles. The cast metal handles are all original and in great shape, however one pull is missing from the left door. Each door was originally fitted with a lock, however the locks have been removed. The back-splash features barley twist columns on each side with a small shelf on top of each. Center has an oval beveled mirror which has some flaws and could benefit from re-silvering. On either side of the mirror are the same decorative floral accents that appear on the doors. ... moreTop surface is quality wood grain and has only one or two small imperfections for its age but has no rings or stains. Left front side has a unique feature; the craftsman opted to work around a knot hole rather than replace the piece of wood he was working with. See last photo. Some areas of the buffet have some inactive worm holes and some separation of joints. The buffet stands on two straight back legs and two beautifully carved barley twist front legs with pear feet. Here is a wonderful sewing box on feet. It has 5 panels carved to represent short stories from Hans Christian Andersen. It measures 27” tall. 22” wide, 16” deep and is 41 ½” tall open. The top is“The Ugly Duckling” The front is“The Little Mermaid” the back is“The Butterfly” I believe) and either side has“Jack& The Beanstalk” and“Jack The Dullard” I believe) The scenes on this piece are outstanding. I believe this piece to be turn of the 20 th century. It has a great oak exterior and two interior sliding shelves. One has burl covers on it. There is some damage to the area around 1 hinge and an old repair to the wood top in that area as can be seen in the photos. Currently that hinge is loose as the screws won’t hold. There are some splits to the oak as can be seen. The piece is very sturdy and very much solid. It is not loose or wobbly ... morein any way. I assume this to be one of a kind as I have never seen anything remotely close to the wonderful character carvings on this piece.
