Two(2) Jorge Ferreri Hardoy for Knoll Butterfly chairs. Leather slip covers. From a NY estate. History The BKF chair is a modern update of the Paragon chair which was first made for use as campaign furniture in the 1870s. A later version of the design was known as the Tripolina chair. A portable chair introduced in the early 20th century. Jorge Ferrari Hardoy along with Antonio Bonet and Juan Kurchan developed the BKF in 1938 for an apartment building they designed in Buenos Aires. On July 24. 1940, the chair was shown at the 3rd Salon de Artistas Decoradores exhibition where it was discovered by the Museum of Modern Art. At the request of MoMA design director Edgar Kaufmann Jr. Hardoy sent 3 pre-production chairs to New York. One is in the MoMA collection and one is at the Frank Lloyd Wright house Fallingwater, but no one knows where the third chair went. Naming the BKF as one of the"best efforts of modern chair design, Kaufmann accurately predicted that it would become extremely popular in the US. And they are made out of Lucite with chrome/metal frames inside. These Lamps have classic mid-century modern style designs, see pictures. There are 2 Lamps in the set. And one of the Lamps is a few inches taller than the other Lamp. See pictures. These Lamps have interesting built-in octagonal Lucite tables. See pictures, and they have wide and stable Lucite bases. Pair Vintage Antique Fretwork Scrolled Arts & Crafts 3 Tier Corner Wall Shelves
This is a nice matching pair of antique fretwork wall shelves with three tiers each. The finish is original and very dark from age. But looks good on both with minor light wear(scuffs, scratches, small dings) from age and use. they don't stand on their own but hang from a screw in a 90 degree corner. There is a hole drilled near the top of each shelf that was used as a hanger. They measure 11" W 21" H x 8" deep. The space between the bottom and the middle shelf is 7 1/2" H and the space between the middle and top shelf is 6" H. The wood has a beautifully grained veneer on both sides. There are a few seems where the veneer was spliced together(one on the back side is shown in the last photo) but they are not very obvious. All joints are tight and secure and both shelves are sturdy and solid. They will be packed ... morevery well and insured during shipping.
