1906 USA map, Accessions of Territory and Panama Canal
This two page map of the lower 48 is from a MINNESOTA DAIRYMAN magazine. Circa 1910. Unfolded it measures 23.5 inches wide by 16 inches tall. On the back is a one page map"ACCESSIONS OF TERRITORY" with Alaska, Hawaii, Porto Rico(sp) and more. The other page is a topographical relief map of the proposed Panama Canal with an axial profile. The corners are rather rounded and there is a tear along the crease from the bottom to about Austin TX, but it's all there. The paper is a bit more yellow than my pictures show. I'll mail this rolled in a tube.

Antique Pull Down School Map of Africa, George F Cram Co, Excello series, OLD
This is an old pull down school map on linen. It is a map of the Africa. Dimensions are 43.5" wide x 56" long. There is no date to be found. Just that it is the Excello Series, and The George F Cram Company, Inc; Indianapolis 7, Indiana. It has French West Africa which ended in 1960. The condition of this map is not great as it has staining from previous moisture damage. There is staining present on the back side of the linen some is mildew stained. The front of the map has some age stains also. I personally think it has a lot of character and think it has great decorating potential. It rolls up and down well. It has been stored indoors in a dry environment for 30+ years so any stains that came from moisture happened well before that. This map is old and I wish I could get info on the exact date. 1955 Commemorative Historical Map 1845 Anniversary National City Bank Lithograph
Here is a very attractive and I believe somewhat scarce Historical Map produced and distributed by the National City Bank of Cleveland. Ohio to commemorate their 110th Anniversity in 1955. The Bank was founded in 1845. Which is the depiction of the map- it shows the US as it looked. Politically,in 1945. Perhaps the bank put this map out for its 110th Anniversary even though such a item might have been more typically produced for a 100th anniversary. But the bank was precluded from doing so due to WWII still going on for most of 1945. In fact, the map states that this is how the US looked on May 17. 1845 the day the bank was founded(see Photo 2) The National City Bank is still going strong today in NE Ohio and is one of the largest banks in the USA. Headquartered in the same building it was in 1955. This map is a lithograh made by the Jackman ... moreLithograph Co. Cleveland. The illustrator is F. Rentschler. As printed on the map(see Photo 4) The map is very colorful. It is simple in its design and does not include a lot of superfluous information not essential to its target: The States and Territories of the US in 1845. The map is designed and excecuted to make it appear older than it's age- to give it an" antique" look. This is especially so for the map's Legend which is large and nicely done(see Photo 2) This map would have had limited circulation in 1955. Probably limited to Northeast Ohio. It was probably expensive to produce, because it is of very high quality for a give-away map, and this was the 1950's, not the 1930's. The map is a large wall. Or poster, map: 32 3/4" x 22 1/2" It comes with its original mailing tube which has an old 5 cents cancelled stamp and original mailing label still on it(see Photo 10) The map is in great shape except for the extreme edges. It has been tightly rolled. As originally, and stored in the tube, protecting its beautiful colors from fading. Please see the Description Section where I go into detail as to condition. I have a nice vintage classroom wall map of A pictorial map of The Earths Moon. It was made by A J Nystrom company in the mid sixties. Not totally sure of the date. But most maps I have ate from that era It is made from a paper/fiber material that is a heavy paper so it is wipeable. It measures approximately 46" long X 64" wide. It has a heavy plastic layer that can be raised. It is the type that hung on the wall on the runner and rolled down. I rolled it down just enough to inspect it. It rolled back fine but I will still handle with TLC. The colors are vibrant and no visible tears are present. This great vintage map by A. J. Nystrom has beautiful colors- you can see the layered spot colors in the print. It's a U.S.A. map. 1950 edition, No. WF1, edited by V. C. Finch, Professor of Geography, University of Wisconsin. Notice the absence of both Alaska and Hawaii, which became states in 1959. The map itself is 59 1/2" tall by 63 1/2" wide. The wood bar at the bottom is 67 5/8" and the top is about 68" across. The map is made to mount on a map rack, which we have in stock at the moment(though it may have sold by now, please check our other items) but it also has two 1/4" holes 67 1/2" apart that could be used to mount the map to a wall. This is a used Nystrom United States Map. It is a Wall Mount School Type Pull Down Roll-up Map. This is a 1997 Edition of Model 1NP1 by Nystrom. The frame measures 68 inches in length. The map measures 65” x 70” The map is in good condition. It rolls down and locks in different positions. The surface is markable with water soluble markers. The lower right corner of the map has some wrinkles. There are no tear in the map. The outer protective green wrap has some scuffs and small tears. You are looking at a vintage nautical chart. It is chart number 2318. It is the 18th Edition June 1945. Revised 12/16/1957. It shows the area of the Caribbean from eastern Hispanola down to Saint Lucia. The soundings are in fathoms. The soundings are from U.S. British, and French datums up to 1927 with additions from 1944. All this can be seen in the photos. It is so old some areas are not fully covered by soundings. This is a 38" by 50" Colorprint" map of the UNITED STATES with portions of Southern Canada and Northern Mexico. Because of the large size. I think it was school map and I believe it is from the 1930's- there is a scan of Massachusetts that does NOT show the Quabbin Reservoir- this is a large body of water in the middle of MA that was man-made in the late 1930's. The map has been folded for many years.There are just a couple of small crease tears, outside has box wear that does not affect the map quality, made on heavy grade paper, overall in good condition. Vintage 1960 America's Literary Heritage Pictorial Historical Map Excellent
Here is a very neat smaller poster map from 1960 entitled. A Reader's Map of the Names. Works, and Locations from America's Literary Heritage. 1752-1960" This map's own heritage comes from the Pictorial Map genre that came to prominence in the 1920's and flourished in the 1930's. Then continued, lesser, up to about the time this map was printed. The map is not marked as to publisher. Designer, cartographer, or distributor. But I suspect it might have been a premium offered by Reader's Digest(if you know. Please inform me and I'll update the listing) Nonetheless, this is a nice, simplified map of the United States that displays exactly what it says in the title. Its art work does not look like that from 1960. But reminiscent of the 1950's or 1940's, at least to my eye. It is simplified in design and ... moremoderate in pictorialization, yet the map is very full of small illustrations. Place names, and descriptions. The base map shows only the 48 lower state boundaries. Mountains, and the Great Lakes. But it is fairly colorful in the oceans. The map's paper, about 30 lb weight, is a nice dark Manilla color, and the printing looks like a burnt tan and greenish blue. t has a nice North Arrow and nice Key. The map is in excellent condition- please see the Description Section where I go into detail as to condition. The map is 18" x 12" It was originally folded into 4 equal size panels. And has not been further folded. The East Coast, New England, and New York areas are particularly full of wording and short epitaphs relative to American Literature. During the pictorial map era, several map posters using the literature theme were produced, a few very choice to collectors. Vtg 1942 Denoyer-Geppert Simplified "United States" Classroom Map 63"w X 52"t
This is a vintage Denoyer-Geppert Simplified Series classroom pull down map of"The United States- Physical-Political" from 1942. I think. I know the map was made sometime between 1935 and 1949 as that is the only time that Charles C. Colby worked at the University of Chicago. The map measures 63" wide by 52" tall and comes with the metal bracket auto-retract hanger. There are 2 large repaired tears down the right hand side that were repaired by the school some years ago. These have been stored for many years by my parents and we found them while trying to help clean out the closets after my father's death so my mother could move to a smaller home. We are offering free shipping and will pay for insurance if your purchase is more than $100.00. We have a 14 day return policy. With free shipping.
