This is a great old 1926 map of the United States.It measures 51" x 45" and has canvas backing and grommets for hanging.It is part of a set from Cram's"Portable and Washable" Map and Atlas Outfit.It was stored in a metal box. Rare Vintage United States Air Mail Map 1939 HTF
Rare and HTF 1939 US Post Office Department Air Mail Service map for domestic and foreign routes. WOW what a great find these were only issued to the post offices and are very rare to find. The condition is excellent some minor wrinkles and a small 2.5" tear in the South America map in the lower right hand corner. Some minor foxing on the edges of course due to age. Remember this map is near 80 years old and is paper. The map is mounted on a foam board with a thin plastic sheet over it to protect it. Map is bordered in red. White and blue with airplanes in the four corners colors are still nice and bright. This map measures 24"x36" and is a full size map. Please check out the photos as they are part of the description. The map you get may be worn along the fold lines due to the acidity of the paper and being folded for years. Some of them also have been written on with the date and location. Usually on back but sometimes on the edges. They may also have tiny holes beginning to form where the fold lines meet. Please be aware that these National Geographic Maps are anywhere from 30 to 80 years old. They are printed on paper that is not acid free and in most cases have not been stored in the best way. So the maps you are buying will be in a condition that reflects both of these facts. The map you get may be worn or lightly torn along the fold lines due to the acidity of the paper and being folded for years. They may also be discolored or mottling spots again due to the acidity of the paper. The borders of the maps may also have small tears. I believe the map was made for the tray because the border of the US fits perfectly inside the tray. Cloth stitched. A few things I picked out: New York area: Apple Louisiana area: African American cotton picker Mississippi area: steamboat Guy in the middle with a sign that says"claim" on it.
