IL USA 1952 This is an amazing vintage map that depicts the literary development of the United States up until the 1940's. I has locations mapped out for the homes and birth places of noteworthy American authors as well as the locales where many of their books took place. I have sold hundreds of maps over the past few years and this is one of most unique and intriguing ones I have encountered. It was purchased as surplus and originally belonged to the English Department at the University of Michigan. This map is contained in the original steel case and has a properly working spring system that automatically retracts the map after use. That being said. This would make a fantastic art piece if mounted and framed! The edges ... moreof the canvas are slightly frayed and it does have some yellowing from age. There are 3 small areas of the canvas that have been repaired. But they are at the far lower corners and upper right corner and outside the actual map itself. Beautiful Rare 1909 Cassel Map of Midwestern United States
An original antique map from Cassell's Atlas. This item: United States Central Division Provenance Cassell's Atlas Containing a Complete Series of Maps of the World. Etc. Edited by. Publisher London: Cassell and Company Ltd. 1909-1910. This is the original 99 year-old map. We do not sell reproductions of any kind. Size/ Format In millimetres(and inches) Sheet: 364 x 262(14¼" X 10 ¼" Margins range from 14mm- 26mm(½" 1" The maps are all printed on one integral sheet with a fold in the center. This fold becomes nearly invisible when the map is laid flat. If the map is framed. The fold becomes completely invisible unless inspected very closely. Condition The maps are in very good condition. The colors are bright and there is almost no age-toning. There is an occasional spot or unobtrusive mark in the ... moremargins of a few of the maps. The scanned images are un-edited(except for size) and are of the actual map you will receive. I've noticed that some of the scans look a little blurry or grainy. This is caused by clumsy scanner settings. The maps are very clear with crisp text.

1903 Scroll map of United States and Territories! Beautiful Antique! Rare Item!
This map was printed in 1903 and issued by the government. It outlines canals. Waterways, indian reservations, conservation areas, government regulated sections of land, the states and territories. It also includes a lot of information pertaining to those regions of land, such as; for the states, when they were bought or acquired into the union etc. This is a great historical piece! The dimensions are 6 ft wide and 7 ft tall when opened. It is printed on what feels like canvass/cloth so it is extremely durable. It is rolled onto a thick wooden dowel with a design on either end. This big pull down map was made in 1945 by Cram Maps. Overall dimensions are 55" high x 51" wide. Size of actual map is 41" high x 49" wide. This map has exceptionally vivid colors and will show well on a home. Office or business wall. It is on canvas and has a wear proof finish and is in very good overall condition. There is wear to the edges as shown and there is a vertical tear that extends from the top left edge downward into the state of Washington as shown. Tear has been crudely repaired but could easily be restored. This is an historic map as it was produced at the very tail end of the World War II. It has extensive notations as to US possessions and such. The wooden, spring loaded roll still functions. There is a brass ID tag at the bottom. This map is virtually impossible to find and is a fine investment and beautiful ... moremap that would enhance just about any room or business. Rare and HTF 1939 US Post Office Department Air Mail Service map for domestic and foreign routes. WOW what a great find these were only issued to the post offices and are very rare to find. The condition is excellent some minor wrinkles and a small 2.5" tear in the South America map in the lower right hand corner. Some minor foxing on the edges of course due to age. Remember this map is near 80 years old and is paper. The map is mounted on a foam board with a thin plastic sheet over it to protect it. Map is bordered in red. White and blue with airplanes in the four corners colors are still nice and bright. This map measures 24"x36" and is a full size map. Please check out the photos as they are part of the description. A fine antique map from The Times Survey Atlas of the World UNITED STATES CENTRAL SECTION Provenance The Times Survey Atlas and Gazetteer of the World by J.G. Bartholomew Published London: The Times Printing House. 1922. Cartographer J.G. Bartholomew. Cartographer to the King. Size/ Format 22.5" x 17.5" 57.6 cm x 44.8 cm) One fold in the centre. The margins are clean and range form 0.5" to 0.8" 1-2 cm) on all sides. These maps were all'tipped in' to the atlas. Which means they can easily be removed as a single sheet with a fold in the centre. Condition Very good. The colors are bright and fresh. The maps themselves. And the margins, are very clean. There are no tears, stains, discolorations or soiling whatsoever. The atlas from which these maps were removed did NOT spend its life at a public library. It was part ... moreof a private collection and was treated very well. Remarks The publication of the Times Survey Atlas in 1922 was the culmination of six years of painstaking work and. With the combination of political and the physical colour range from dark green to dark brown to indicate elevation, it marked the beginning of the age of'modern cartography. It surpassed any atlas before it in terms of scope(112 double-page folio map) and accuracy. Many of the maps published in this atlas were used in other atlases in many countries as recently as the 1970s. These maps will look great framed and hung individually or, on a large wall, in groups. RARE Dated 1928 Denoyer-Geppert School Classroom Map CIVIL WAR A16 A17 Oak& Linen. Made by Denoyer-Geppert Co. of Chicago. Compiled and Drawn by R Baxter Blair. It is actually 2 maps in 1 roll down linen backed roll- Numbers A16& A17. Hart American Historical Series with A16 showing Civil War locations and A17 depicting 4 parts Abolition, Reconstruction, Cotton Production and Per Capita Wealth. The map section measures 43-1/2" wide and 63" long; the actual full piece would be slightly larger when fully opened. This is a genuine 1928 school map- NOT a reproduction or later issue. The linen shows slight edge wear but no tears or holes, the colors are fine and vivid. The only issue is the map ends has half pulled off the oak rollers at both ends but just needs to be re-stapled in place, quite minor. The Denoyer-Geppert Company ... morewas founded in 1916 by L. Philip Denoyer and Otto E. Geppert. Denoyer was born in Milwaukee. Wisconsin, and spent much of his early life as a teacher, principal, and professor of geography. Geppert was a salesman who had been working for W& AK Johnston, mapmakers out of Chicago. In 1913. Geppert found Denoyer teaching in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and convinced him to leave and become an adviser for A. J. Nystrom& Co. in Chicago. Both working for Chicago mapmakers in 1916, Denoyer and Geppert decided to form their own mapmaking business under their own names, with Denoyer as President and Geppert as Sales Manager and Secretary/Treasurer. In its early years. The firm promoted itself as a manufacture and supplier of"visual demonstration equipment for geography, history and the biological sciences, including globes and maps. Denoyer-Geppert sold imported British globes under its own name, and also developed its own line of American manufactured globes, including the"Cartocraft" globe with simplified map gores. By 1937. RARE 1919 Armour Foods Grocery Store Display Advertising Pictorial Map 3 Plaques
Here is an extremely rare and unique piece of advertising that employs a Pictorial Map of the United States as the medium with which to promote its products. This piece is actually Three(3) heavy cardboard plaques. Or placards. That were probably used for In-Store Advertising or P oint-of-Sale Merchandising. The map- also printed on 3 separate sections- is a caricature map depicting agriculture of the various 48 states. Particularly, animal husbandry. Because, of course, the Armour Food Company specialized. And today still specializes, in meat packing and selling. My guess is that this display piece would have graced the meat department of a local grocery store. Or it may have been given to a butcher shop that carried Armour meats. It is dated 1919. Keep in mind that in 1919 there were no real"supermarkets" or big box food stores. ... moreSo this display piece probably was visible throughout the store, providing tremendous advertising for Armour. It may have been intended as a seasonal form of advertising meant to be discarded after a promotion. But given the culture of pernanancey of the times, it may have been meant to serve a store or butcher shop for more than a year or even semi-permanently. The plaques are basically rectangles. But the tops are curvilinear. At the center of the display(the middle plackard) an Armour ad is flanked by two bull's heads. There are 3 genres of illustrations to this piece: 1) the map is caricature map and reminiscent of later true Pictorial Maps that began in the 1920's and saw there Golden Age in the 1930's- this is then a very early Pictorial Map! 2) Still Life Art for the 8 Armour food product frames that flank the map left and right; and. 3) Decorative Art. Somewhat of the Art Nouveau movement prevalent in the 1910's that grace the beautiful light brown border of the display. You don't often see these 3 art genres on a map. Even of this vintage.
