This big pull down map was made in 1945 by Cram Maps. Overall dimensions are 55" high x 51" wide. Size of actual map is 41" high x 49" wide. This map has exceptionally vivid colors and will show well on a home. Office or business wall. It is on canvas and has a wear proof finish and is in very good overall condition. There is wear to the edges as shown and there is a vertical tear that extends from the top left edge downward into the state of Washington as shown. Tear has been crudely repaired but could easily be restored. This is an historic map as it was produced at the very tail end of the World War II. It has extensive notations as to US possessions and such. The wooden, spring loaded roll still functions. There is a brass ID tag at the bottom. This map is virtually impossible to find and is a fine investment and beautiful ... moremap that would enhance just about any room or business. Bartholomew Published London: The Times Printing House. 1922. Cartographer J.G. Bartholomew. Cartographer to the King. Size/ Format 22.5" x 17.5" 57.6 cm x 44.8 cm) One fold in the centre. The margins are clean and range form 0.5" to 0.8" 1-2 cm) on all sides. These maps were all'tipped in' to the atlas. Which means they can easily be removed as a single sheet with a fold in the centre. Condition Very good. The colors are bright and fresh. The maps themselves. And the margins, are very clean. There are no tears, stains, discolorations or soiling whatsoever. The atlas from which these maps were removed did NOT spend its life at a public library. It was part of a private ... morecollection and was treated very well. Remarks The publication of the Times Survey Atlas in 1922 was the culmination of six years of painstaking work and. With the combination of political and the physical colour range from dark green to dark brown to indicate elevation, it marked the beginning of the age of'modern cartography. It surpassed any atlas before it in terms of scope(112 double-page folio map) and accuracy. Many of the maps published in this atlas were used in other atlases in many countries as recently as the 1970s. These maps will look great framed and hung individually or, on a large wall, in groups. Vintage 1930's Scarce Pictorial Mileage Map USA Pacific Greyhound Lines Art Deco
Here is an elegant and quite scarce Pictorial/Transportation Theme/Route map from about the 1930's or even the late 1920's executed in the sleek. Simplified Art Deco style prevent during the Depression era. The map depicts the route lines of the Pacific Greyhound Lines bus system. But as you can clearly see, and the map proves, the Pacific Greyhound system traveled the entire United States, not just the Pacific Coast. This fact makes the map and it's distributor all the more interesting. It is not dated. But it is clearly pre-WWII and the Art Deco design is obvious and speaks to the map's age. The US continental lines are laid on a simplified map of the country and shown in the wide. Black ribbon method that you see on maps of the early 1900's whose only intention was to show the company's railroad lines. For this ... morereason, I think this map may have not been intended for distribution, but for display at Greyhound terminals and stations; perhaps usually framed and/or for sale. I don't believe this map was targeted to a youth audience. The coloration is equally simple, yet elegant: Goldenrod yellow and black on ivory colored paper. The illustrator of the map is not mentioned. Which is a shame, because he or she was a real artist. Encircling the map are small illustrations of National Parks. Big cities' skylines, such as New York and Chicago, famous land marks, and major national points of interest. These illustrations are some of the best I've seen on pictorial maps from this time period. The Golden Age of the pictorial map genre, the 1930's. The size of the map is 30" x 20" It has been rolled. I just acquired this map of the US and its a really good find. Its big about 7' wide and 5 1/2' long. Lots of color detailed showing the Legends for Land sea and population(see Pictures) The map is in good to very good condition and will transform any room you hang it. Please keep in mind its almost a half century old and is not new. One customer asked me if a map had been in a smoke free home! Its a School Map how the heck do I know. All I could say is its been in dry storage for 30 years. Some of the maps have been repaired over the years and may have tape. How to Repair Old School maps The round dowel is cut in half by the manufacturer and the new map is simply glued or stapled to one halve and then screwed to the other. Its basically sandwiched between the two halves. They made them this way so the schools could do there on repairs. ... moreThey printed the maps on canvas with several inches below and above the map.This was done so the school could do the repair work. Most schools could not afford to buy another one or send it to the manufacturer for a tear to be fixed when it would tear they unscrewed it. Cut the section that had the tear and put it back together. Please keep this in mind the older maps that have been rolled up and stored. They need to hang for several days lay flat. Should your map not straighten out simply remove the screws reset the map.Trim it if necessary and screw it back At some point you may tear it and need to repair it. Now you know how.

1906 USA map, Accessions of Territory and Panama Canal
This two page map of the lower 48 is from a MINNESOTA DAIRYMAN magazine. Circa 1910. Unfolded it measures 23.5 inches wide by 16 inches tall. On the back is a one page map"ACCESSIONS OF TERRITORY" with Alaska, Hawaii, Porto Rico(sp) and more. The other page is a topographical relief map of the proposed Panama Canal with an axial profile. The corners are rather rounded and there is a tear along the crease from the bottom to about Austin TX, but it's all there. The paper is a bit more yellow than my pictures show. I'll mail this rolled in a tube.

Finch, Professor of Geography, University of Wisconsin. Notice the absence of both Alaska and Hawaii, which became states in 1959. The map itself is 59 1/2" tall by 63 1/2" wide. The wood bar at the bottom is 67 5/8" and the top is about 68" across. The map is made to mount on a map rack, which we have in stock at the moment(though it may have sold by now, please check our other items) but it also has two 1/4" holes 67 1/2" apart that could be used to mount the map to a wall. Here is an old antique map. Pretty thin with some issues and wear but I discuss above. This is about 32 X 42 and is A Physiographic Diagram of the United States by A.K. Lobeck, University of Wisconsin, A.J. Nystrom and Company, Chicago. Whats kind of cool about the way this is designed is that half is on one side and then you flip it and see the other half of the country. This does have some wear issues and I did just notice there is a name written in pencil in the lower right. Thanks for looking. Vtg 1978 National Geographic Close-Up USA HC Book & Map Set w/ Plastic Case
Close-Up U.S.A Book& Map Set National Geographic Society. 1978 This great set comes in a plastic storage case and contains the following items- Close-Up U.S.A. Hardcover Book 1 Large Map of the United States 15 Regional Maps of the United States 1 Distance Scale(to be used with U.S. map) All of the maps were produced by the Cartographic Division of the National Geographic Society in January of 1978. This set is in very nice. Pre-owned condition and has been well taken care of. One of the maps shows some white discoloration on the bottom edge(please see photos) but otherwise the maps do not have any ripped or torn edges and other than some normal handling wear are in great condition.
