It is printed on an"onion skin" type paper, and is hand colored. The map states: Entered by an Act of Congress, 10th July 1818, and published by John Melish, improved to 1820. John Melish was one of the early American premier mapmakers of this period. This map includes Texas, and is probably one of the earliest maps to show the new Texas borders, accepted by the US from the Treaty signed 22 Feb. 1819. It is engraved by Samuel Harrison. The map has retained most of its original folds, but has been misfolded in the past. The map has no corner loss, as it may look in the photo; it is folded back.The book is complete, along with the 4 full page maps of Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore and Boston, see photos. It measures approximately 11 x 14(including the border areas) On one side is a map of the State of Texas. It also lists some city/county data along the sides of the map. On the back is a map of Oklahoma. It also lists some county/city data along the side. Overall map is in good condition. Some light browning around the edges. Some dings and tears along the edges. But it does not affect the map. Will look very nice framed.
