It was printed by Chromolithography utilizing zinc plates eteched in relief. The labeling language is in German. In general, the Andrees maps are exceptional for their detail and vibrant color, which are among the best of the late 19th century maps. The map is being sold unmatted or framed as seen in the first pic, printed on a large heavy sheet, blank on the reverse with a centerfold as issued. Overall a beautiful map in great condition. Size: The map image area from neat line to neat line measures approximately 14 1/2 by 17 1/2 inches(37x44cm) on a 17 1/2 by 22" 44x56cm) page with a margin all around for framing. Condition: The map is in Good to Very Good condition for its age with vibrant color on a bright sheet. There is some cockling of the paper. A couple of minor spots and some acid burns on the reverse from paper being stored in the atlas, otherwise the map image is very clean and would frame up well. The pics are of the actual map. Printed in the early 20th century, on quality paper which retains its inherent structural flexibility and soundness. Uncommon and detailed German produced map with a profusion of details not found on other maps of the era. In near VG or better condition. Light minor age wear, overall very presentable and attractive[note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws] The printed area remains visually pleasing. A nice impression of an interesting antique map which will look nice when displayed. Sheet measures c. 9 7/8" W x 12 7/8" H. Printed area measures c. 8 3/8" W x 11 3/8" H. An important and fine map of Western American interest. Includes the large region of the southern U.S. Much of which is labelled" Louisiana" and which would soon become the Republic of Texas. Covers from New Orleans across to modern day California, northward to Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, Oklahoma& Colorado. The mountainous regions around New Mexico are taken directly from Alexander Humboldt's important 1811 map" Carte General du Royaume de la Nouvelle Espagne" Which is among the earliest to delineate ... morethe Spanish southwest and Rocky Mountain region with any sense of modern accuracy. Interestingly, this map which is printed just 3 years later adds and amends many topographical details of Humboldts map east of the Rockies, including new mountainous elevations and rivers while also adding new tributaries to the Colorado river, etc. Evidence of Pikes important 1806-07 explorations in what is today Colorado is seen for instance in the unnamed mountain(Pikes Peak in Colorado) Which is here simply labelled"Highest Peak" The Great Salt Lake and the close-by Utah Lake are both mapped with incomplete borders and a fictitious river between them. Large area below these lakes"Unknown Parts" As the area depicted extends east much farther than Humboldts. It includes a large portion of Louisiana Territory, and also includes a relatively accurate mapping of the course of the Arkansas river, as well as many Indian tribes and their villages. Some of these Indian villages even give the number of inhabitants. Much else of interest. 1960s Indian Tribes Of North America Map By Driver, Cooper, Kirchoff, et al
My wife got this map around 1964-1968 while she was in college majoring in anthropology. It was compiled by Driver. Cooper, Kirchoff, Massey, Rainier and Spier. There is no copyright or date on the map. She hung the map on a wall in her dorm by putting tape on the corners and using pins to secure the corners. Map measures 22 X 34. It is in good condition with a few visible flaws including the tape glue on three corners. The pinholes, the missing corner, and a one half inch tear at the bottom by the piece of scotch tape.

1966 copyright School Wall Map NORTH AMERICA, pull down, works
This is: a vintage wall map. The kind ubiquitous during the 60s and 70s in almost every school. It fastens to the wall, pulls down like a window blind, stops and stays during the lesson, and another pull releases it to go back up into the case. I took pix of this outside mostly as the color is more true(and I am tired of being inside) and it is pretty large. Has metal pull bar at the bottom and pull ring. Made of some sort of heavy flexible paper mostly, some sort of vinyl material at bottom, base and top of heavy metal. Last pix shows the maker, Rand McNally, copyright 1966, other number, 14-5010 1R69, may indicate was made in 1969. Not sure. This is of North America, of course includes USA, but also Canada, bit of Soviet Union and all of Greenland at top, and Central America, the top of South America at the bottom, edge of Europe to the ... moreright. Condition and size: Good condition overall. Maybe has some fading of color, and a little bend in metal of bottom pull. Edges of map are surprisingly good. Measures about 50" across, metal bar at base and case/ mounting structure at top about 1 1/2" more per side, or 3" overall making total width 53" Map is about 5' tall, plus about 5" of green material at bottom and 1" for the metal bar at the bottom, for a total of 5 1/2" foot plus a bit for hanger bit. Larousse) This was included as a plate in a beautifully illustrated edition published in France in the 1920's Pierre Larousse was born in Toucy. Where his father was a blacksmith. At the age of sixteen he won a scholarship at the teaching school in Versailles. Four years later. He returned to Toucy to teach in a primary school, but became frustrated by the archaic and rigid teaching methods. In 1840 he moved to Paris to improve his own education by taking free courses. From 1848 to 1851 he taught at a private boarding school, where he met his future wife, Suzanne Caubel.Together, in 1849, they published a French language course for children.
