Here is a great old find—An Annual Report of the Light House Board(Secretary of Commerce and Labor) from June 30 th. 1906. It’s 180 pages of interesting historical information, but what makes it very desirable is the 18 color maps it contains! They represent each of 16 lighthouse districts, with a couple districts having two maps. Locations include all along the east coast to Florida. The Great Lakes, Texas, the west coast including Alaska, the Ohio River, the Tennessee River, the Mississippi, Cuba, Porto Rico, and more. The maps fold out to a size of about 16 ½” by 20 ½” although I think they vary a bit. There are also two 1040’s articles from the LA Times about moving a lighthouse laid in. The book cover and spine are in rough condition. With some chipping and tape on the bottom of the spine and rear cover. The pages are mostly ... moreOK, small tears and some browning where the newspaper articles were laid in. The maps, however, are in very good condition. All 18 are there and very clean—the paper is near fine, although 2 of the 6 or so I unfolded for photos have a small stress tear along the margin, just where it attaches to the book. Incredibly beautiful, and a wonderful part of our coastal history. I cannot find any other original copies of this 1906 book on any of the antique or other book sites online. Size/ Format In millimetres(and inches) Sheet: 364 x 262(14¼" X 10 ¼" Margins range from 14mm- 26mm(½" 1" The maps are all printed on one integral sheet with a fold in the center. This fold becomes nearly invisible when the map is laid flat. If the map is framed. The fold becomes completely invisible unless inspected very closely. Condition The maps are in very good condition. The colors are bright and there is almost no age-toning. There is an occasional spot or unobtrusive mark ... morein the margins of a few of the maps. The scanned images are un-edited(except for size) and are of the actual map you will receive. I've noticed that some of the scans look a little blurry or grainy. This is caused by clumsy scanner settings. The maps are very clear with crisp text.

Published for Container Corp. of America by Rand McNally& Company Chicago. 1936 Illustrated by Edgar Miller Includes 2 pages. Each page: Outside measures approximately:11" wide x 14" long Inside border measures approximately: 9"wide x 12.5"long There is plenty of surrounding border for matting purposes. The first page showing the upper United States has a piece missing in the lower right. Some of the pages have some water spots. Foxing and some pages have faired better than others, all and all they have survived over 70 years. Most of the age on the pages give the maps a well worn. Aged appearance. The colors are vibrant and the maps are still ... morereadable and framable. I will be posting more maps of states and countries. The material placed around the top may need to be glued again at the seam soon and there is a very tiny bit of glue showing just at the seam. There is a tiny amount of discoloration of the inside lining at the top and one place on the inside lining farther down which could be a glue stain. The fabric around the top was not put in place evenly and shows just a bit of the lining along part of the top. This could probably be fixed by anyone with a little craft know how. The lampshade as a whole appears to be in good condition and is still extremely cute.

The covers of the volume have some expected wear and tear, but the maps themselves are for the most part in excellent condition. It's interesting to trace the movement of great weather patterns across the US from day to day over a century ago! A fine antique map from The Times Survey Atlas of the World UNITED STATES Eastern Section Provenance The Times Survey Atlas and Gazetteer of the World by J.G. Bartholomew Published London: The Times Printing House. 1922. All the maps we are selling come from the same original 1922 atlas. Cartographer J.G. Bartholomew. Cartographer to the King. Size/ Format 22.5" x 17.5" 57.6 cm x 44.8 cm) One fold in the centre. The margins are clean and range form 0.5" to 0.8" 1-2 cm) on all sides. These maps were all'tipped in' to the atlas. Which means they can easily be removed as a single sheet with a fold in the centre. Condition Very good. The colors are bright and fresh. The maps themselves. And the margins, are very clean. There are no tears, stains, discolorations or soiling whatsoever. The atlas from which these maps ... morewere removed did NOT spend its life at a public library. It was part of a private collection and was treated very well. Note that slight differences in the colours of the margins are the result of my scanner being just wide enough to capture the width of the map. But not all of the margins. So, the parts of the margins have been added on after scanning. All the maps have full, uniformly coloured margins, as issued. There is writing(her name) on many of the music sheets as they were owned by an old music teacher who could play a piano like few others I have heard. Timeline: 1935 or 1936. Following the crash of the stock market. The United States continued to decline steadily into the most profound depression of its history. More than 32,000 businesses went bankrupt and at least 5000 banks failed. People lived in shantytowns dubbed"Hoovervilles, and some families moved into abandoned railroad boxcars, that were left idle after the Railroads had no freight to move, thus no revenues to continue in business. One famous authors view: The Joads leave camp with Tom hiding under a mattress. After traveling about 20 miles. A few Universities and Historical Societies have just a few maps from this atlas This is a large 1936 Railroad and Navigable Waterways Map of the United States. Basically it is two maps which each measures 28 X 20 inches. On its face it shows by use of lines all major railroads along with the use of dots to show the navigable waters in use. This is a business map used to help shippers find routes to their customers. At this time almost all major sales was done through catalog buying. One could even buy car parts from Sears. This map is genuine. Not a copy or reprint. It may have few minor handling flaws as to be expected in a map this age and large. Presently in almost mint condition. 1956 Denoyer-Geppert geographical terms wall map. Illustrated by Jean Boys. At the bottom are definitions of terms such as lagoon. Mountain range, meadow, ect. Measures 44x63 inches. Map has canvas backing. I believe this is a roll up map with the roller and wood dowl at the bottom cut off. The colors are still nice and bright. Very good condition. See pictures. United States Map Department of Interior 1938 Check out this great old map of the United States from the Dept. of the Interior. The map is 85" across by 62" tall. Probably were wood dowels that it rolled up on originally. But no longer with this map. It certainly is fragile around the borders. Some pieces missing and some repairs with tape over the years. Still has great colors and the details of national monuments, indian lands, lighthouses, parks, forests, railroads, etc. on this map are just amazing. Well-preserved original early 20th century antique color lithographed folio map. Printed on quality paper which retains its inherent structural flexibility and soundness. Nicely detailed. An uncommon transitional issue of this huge map with boundaries and features not likely found on earlier or later issues of it. Very unusual map showing the different divisions and associations related to railroad shipping. A monumental. Almost wall-size map, not to be confused with the much more common small atlas maps by Rand McNally. This map was originally issued within a huge shipping atlas which had a far smaller production and cost much more than the normal family sized atlases the firm produced. ... moreIn VG or better condition[note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws] The printed area remains visually pleasing. A nice impression of an interesting antique map. Any minor defects along the sheet edges and in the margins may be seen in the photos. Sheet measures c. 20 1/2" H x 28" W. Engraved area measures c. 18 1/2" H x 26" W. 15598] note: All old sheets of printed paper possibly have short edge splits. Each sheet has existed for a very long time and has probably been handled repeatedly in the course of it's existence. It has a history unique to it as an object. Most of the time any edge splits are short. Minor, insignificant and have been closed- either long ago or more recently with small pieces of archival tape. Most often these splits are trivial and easy to overlook visually. Basically, they would not significantly affect the piece adversely. The item is offered as seen. Please look carefully and make your decision knowing this antique image is nice. But it is not in perfect"like new" condition. However, with whatever flaws it possesses, it remains entirely worthy of ownership and inclusion
