The Company was started in 1867, and began making globes for homes and schools in the early 1930s. These were made for both the home and school markets and came in a range of sizes from 8" to 16" in diameter. The product line included"Cram's Universal Terrestrial Globes" featuring a choice of sizes and styles of mountings. This globe is one of that popular line. At age 79 in 1921. Cram sold his company to one of his largest customers, E.A. Peterson. Peterson merged it with his own business, the National Map Company, and moved the business to Indianapolis, Indiana. Look at photos to see. The globe measures 12" in diameter and is mounted on it's axis by a rotating plastic gold colored support beams. They too show vintage ware. You can see paint missing on the top, near the axis on the support beam.The globe shows ware as well. The line around the equator is missing. It weighs about four pounds and is easy to move. This is a great vintage globe. Look at the photos to see everything. It's old, funky, has character and is only meant for those that love vintage and enjoyed the 1970's. Both are in fair condition. ... moreBoth have signs of aging: paper wear. Some color fading, some dirt, scratches, and in general, other symptoms of being old. The one on the left in the first picture appears to be more faded. It does not have airplane flight distances. The one on the right has more vibrant colors and has airplane distances indicated. The booklet belongs to the one on the left, the slightly more faded one. They are not identical. They are very similar. Both were made in the USA by George at cram company in Indianapolis Indiana. Both are being sold as a pair, in as is condition. Please review photographs and ask questions. Thank you. The basis will be removed and packed in the same box. So some assembly will be required. It's one screw to reinsert. Having a pair is always better as you can have both hemispheres visible at the same time. Great for teaching. The one on the left has Union of Soviet Socialist republics. The one on the right the one with the more vibrant colors has that area listed as Russia. Both globes indicate north and South Korea. The faded globe has Burma listed. Not Myanmar. This is a great old 1926 map of the United States.It measures 51" x 45" and has canvas backing and grommets for hanging.It is part of a set from Cram's"Portable and Washable" Map and Atlas Outfit.It was stored in a metal box. With leather handle, and other maps and a Cram's atlas book.These other maps and the atlas are also for sale.This map was obviously used and has some wear and spotting.Corners are crisp and there are no tears.Please use the'zoom' over the pictures.There is no copyright date on the map but there is one in the atlas and they all came together in the set.I charge actual shipping so please ignore any shipping price shown.Combine items for a shipping break. Cram USA School Map Vintage Huge Colorful Pull Down Roller Map United States
Roll down school map like the teacher rolled down in front of the chalkboard. Huge 64 inches wide by 50 inches deep. That's just the map information area. 48 States plus Hawaii and Alaska too. Both poles are well attached, a little bit of the laminate is coming off one side on the bottom. Has a few stains, shows wear and use in some places, no real tears I don't think. Bright colors. Vintage Paved Road Atlas of the United States"Indicating the best improved highways in the United States and Lower Canada" Size: Folded: 8" x 11 3/4" Unfolded: 8" x 15 1/2" Published by the George F. Cram Co. Indianapolis Distributed by the Milwaukee Journal Tour Club Driving was an adventure in those days as motorists had to sort out a maze of numbered federal highways. Named highways like the Lincoln Highway or the Old Spanish Trail, paved and unimproved roads-good only in the dry season. This atlas claims it will get you from here to there on the best routes possible. Publication Date: I really don't know when this was published. No date is given that I've seen. However. The U.S. Federal Highway Numbering System was created in 1925. This publication says it is a guide to the"new" numbered ... morehighway system. Many of the routes used when this map was published have since been changed. For instance, Route 20 now runs from Albany through Cazenovia, NY to Auburn and points west. This map shows Route 20 running from Albany to Syracuse and then to Auburn. I'm certain there are other changes. Federal Highways listed are: 1: Fort Kent. Maine to Miami, FL 2: Houlton. Maine to Rouses Point, NY and from Saulte Ste. Michigan to Bonners Ferry, Idaho 12: Detroit. Michigan to Seattle, Washington 11: Rouse Point. NY to New Orleans 20: Boston. Vintage Cram's Cloth Pull Down School Map Early Railroad Period 1840-1880 + WW1
Absolutely incredible pull down school map from George F. Cram of Chicago. Dating to the 1960s. This is a canvas/cloth map that measures about 51"x 78" WITHOUT the hem. It includes tension rod but NO mounting bracket. Will operate with roller shade hardware available at any home improvement store. There are 2 different maps featured; Transportation~Early Railroad Period 1840-1880 and WW1 1914-1918 European Theater. The 2nd map of WW1 on the bottom sustained some water damage on the lower 8" of the map and the hem resulting in some staining, rippling and flaking, but it is also stable. The rest of the map, including the railroad map is without holes, tears, markings, water damage or creases. If one chose, the two maps could be separated. Map is very crisp, colors are bright and vibrant, there are no smells at all, no yellowing, ... morejust a very very clean map. You will not be disappointed with the condition of this old map. This map. Along with more than 75 other school maps and charts that I will be listing, belonged to the estate of a longtime teacher who lovingly stored these works of art when they became obsolete or were replaced for more modern versions, and eventually the technology that we use in schools today. This is one of the finest, most eclectic collections I have found in all my years of hunting map collections. In fact, I have not had a large quantity of school maps in my possession in about 6 years, so if you see one you like, don't wait. I have not been through every single map yet but so far I have found no doubles. I have many very unique maps that I have not seen before so please check back as I get them listed.
