Old colorful vintage 1941 school map. Large size of the world physical-political, edited by V.C. Finch, Professor of Geography, University of Wisconsin, Equatorial Scale, 1:25,344,000 of 400 miles to the inch. Van der Grinten Projection. Published by A.J. Nystrom& Co. Chicago. This map was cut and mounted on oil cloth so it could fold and was portable and it has metal brass grommets on the top so it could be hung as was typical of the time for classrooms. Neat old one. Has some brown paint splotch on the back. But at least it doesn’t show on the front. Neat big one for your wall. Colorful. Definitely used condition. Not pristine, but has a lot of character. Vintage Pulldown School Map wall USA 1968 Detailed Retro pull down colors NR
I just acquired this map of the US and its a really good find. Its big about 7' wide and 5 1/2' long. Lots of color detailed showing the Legends for Land sea and population(see Pictures) The map is in good to very good condition and will transform any room you hang it. Please keep in mind its almost a half century old and is not new. One customer asked me if a map had been in a smoke free home! Its a School Map how the heck do I know. All I could say is its been in dry storage for 30 years. Some of the maps have been repaired over the years and may have tape. How to Repair Old School maps The round dowel is cut in half by the manufacturer and the new map is simply glued or stapled to one halve and then screwed to the other. Its basically sandwiched between the two halves. They made them this way so the schools could do there on repairs. ... moreThey printed the maps on canvas with several inches below and above the map.This was done so the school could do the repair work. Most schools could not afford to buy another one or send it to the manufacturer for a tear to be fixed when it would tear they unscrewed it. Cut the section that had the tear and put it back together. Please keep this in mind the older maps that have been rolled up and stored. They need to hang for several days lay flat. Should your map not straighten out simply remove the screws reset the map.Trim it if necessary and screw it back At some point you may tear it and need to repair it. Now you know how.

The wood bar at the bottom is 67 5/8" and the top is about 68" across. Vintage Industrial World School Pull Down Wall Map Educational Systems 30-21 Art
This World Map was made by Modern Educational Systems. Model no. 30-21. It was made in 1988, just before the Berlin Wall came down, and you can see that East and West Germany are still divided on the map of Europe. The pull bar is 65" and some tape repairs have been made along the back of it. The map itself is 61 1/4" L x 46 1/2" T. The map is made to mount on a map rack but it can be hung on a wall using two 3/4" holes spaced 36" apart in the metal support. Someone had made tape repairs to the back of the map with a strong tape of some sort- it's silver tape, but looks different than duct tape. The repairs seems secure. This is one of 2 listed but this one has no dowels Its big about 7' wide and 5 1/2' long. Lots of color detailed showing the Legends for Land sea and population(see Pictures) The map is in good to very good condition and will transform any room you hang it. Please keep in mind its almost a half century old and is not new. One customer asked me if a map had been in a smoke free home! Its a School Map how the heck do I know. All I could say is its been in dry storage for 30 years. Some of the maps have been repaired over the years and may have tape. How to Repair Old School maps The round dowel is cut in half by the manufacturer and the new map is simply glued or stapled to one halve and then screwed to the other. Its basically sandwiched between the two halves. They made them this way so the schools could do there on repairs. Most schools could not afford to buy another one or send it to the manufacturer for a tear to be fixed when it would tear they unscrewed it. Cut the section that had the tear and put it back together. Please keep this in mind the older maps that have been rolled up and stored. They need to hang for several days lay flat. Should your map not straighten out simply remove the screws reset the map.Trim it if necessary and screw it back At some point you may tear it and need to repair it. Now you know how.

Palmer PH.D Litt D, there are 16 maps, all vary in size, first map is 48" wide and 36" long measuring the black boarder line around the map section, the pull down has wear and an attic odor to it, some of the edges of the maps have tears, most of the bottom of the maps where the metal small bar is on has tape on the worn section, one metal bar is missing on one of the maps, there are some stains on the back of each map, the map section on the front of all 16 are in nice condition, clear and nice color, the outside roll up cover has a tear and stains, this has a metal bracket on the top to hang the map on the wall and measures 55 1/2" ... morewide, the section that would be mounted on the wall is missing. This is a beautiful mint condition wall map of the United States. It was printed by OTTENHEIMER publishers of Baltimore. Maryland in 1966. The Cartographer was Channing Rwen Kao PhD. It was distributed by N. Miness and Company of Hicksville. New York. This map was certainly made for use in school or at home by a student. It is a Conic projection map. The map measures 37 inches across by 25 inches tall when open. This map is in its original packaging. The packaging is fantastic as you can see in my photo. And has the mid-century graphic design that you would expect. The distributor was in Hicksville, New York, so it is not lost on me that the color of the packaging is the orange& blue of the New York Worlds Fair. I slit open the top of the package to be able to take the map out and photograph it. You are viewing a vintage"large" old Jr/ Senior High School pull down map by De noyer Geppert. This map is in pretty decent condition minus the markings from actual school room use. Not sure if these will clean off-I never gave it a try. Those white circles where not noticeable until I took photos with flash. No holes or fading. There is a white spot on Illinoi.Retracts as it should. The colors are still sharp! It measures: 58" high by 63.5" across.this map is selling as is and with no brackets. Antique / vintage school-room map: "War for Southern Independence" (Civil War)
Large(32"x44" historical school-room map of"the War for Southern Independence" a/k/a the Civil War) With an inset showing Louisiana during the war. Printed in 1946 by Denoyer-Geppert(Chicago) plate L6 from the"Louisiana Social Studies Maps" series. Shows major campaigns with commanding officers' names, and shows areas of Union occupation, year-by-year. This map did its educational tour of duty at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Overall it is in very good shape- a bit of curling and warping and a few very minor discolorations, but no fading, holes, or marks.

Vintage Denoyer-Geppert Cloth Pull Down School Map Cartocraft Slated US 64"x 46"
Fabulous pull down school map from Denoyer Geppert. Dating to the 1950s 60s. This is a canvas/cloth slated map, one sided featuring US, that measures about 64"x 46" WITHOUT the hem. It includes mounting bracket(no screws) and wood pole and operates easily and without issue. I found one tear at the bottom close to the pole, well clear of the map itself, faint chalk markings and light paint spatter close to the pole like someone painted the room with a roller when the map was rolled up and just the thin strip exposed. Structurally this map is excellent, very smooth and crisp. Colors are brighter than photos show, there are no smells at all, just a great map. Even with the issues mentioned, you will not be disappointed with the condition of this old map. The spot to the left in the photo is a figment of my camera's imagination ... moreand does not exist on the map! This map. Along with more than 75 other school maps and charts that I will be listing, belonged to the estate of a longtime teacher who lovingly stored these works of art when they became obsolete or were replaced for more modern versions, and eventually the technology that we use in schools today. This is one of the finest, most eclectic collections I have found in all my years of hunting map collections. In fact, I have not had a large quantity of school maps in my possession in about 6 years, so if you see one you like, don't wait. I have not been through every single map yet but so far I have found no doubles. I have many very unique maps that I have not seen before so please check back as I get them listed. Vintage Cram's Cloth Pull Down School Map Early Railroad Period 1840-1880 + WW1
Absolutely incredible pull down school map from George F. Cram of Chicago. Dating to the 1960s. This is a canvas/cloth map that measures about 51"x 78" WITHOUT the hem. It includes tension rod but NO mounting bracket. Will operate with roller shade hardware available at any home improvement store. There are 2 different maps featured; Transportation~Early Railroad Period 1840-1880 and WW1 1914-1918 European Theater. The 2nd map of WW1 on the bottom sustained some water damage on the lower 8" of the map and the hem resulting in some staining, rippling and flaking, but it is also stable. The rest of the map, including the railroad map is without holes, tears, markings, water damage or creases. If one chose, the two maps could be separated. Map is very crisp, colors are bright and vibrant, there are no smells at all, no yellowing, ... morejust a very very clean map. You will not be disappointed with the condition of this old map. Vintage 1913 G.W. BACON Irving Rehm SEARS & ROEBUCK School MAP of the U.S. Atlas
Offered today is a vintage U.S. map designed by G.W. BACON and made by Irving R. Rehm for the Sears& Roebuck Company of Chicago. Illinois. This map is in amazing original condition. Map is marked"Copyright 1911" in the lower left corner and"1913 Edition" just to the right of that. It has very nice bright bold colors and shows very little wear. There is some slight roughness on both sides at toward the top just below the wooden dowel. There are also a couple small cracks and wrinkling in the paper surface toward the top in the center. Otherwise this map is in excellent shape for being 102 years old. Measures 48" wide X 38" tall. Photo#10 shows a very nice 1911 World map I have for sale in another auction.
