1908 Peerless Atlas United States Map
Up for auction is a United States Map from the 1908 Twentieth Century Peerless Atlas published by the Crowell Publishing Company. The map itself is copyright 1899 as the Peerless Atlas is a collection of maps published in different years. It measures 13 1/2 X 22. The folds occur because of being folded to fit into the original atlas. The holes on the right are from the original staples. There is a tear along one of the folds and a slight water stain on the bottom left edge which is hardly noticeable. The color is still very nice. Based upon the Latest Official Surveys, with a Complete Index Showing Location and Population of all Cities, Towns, and Villages. The Population Figures are according to the Latest Official Census. It contains a map of the whole United States, of the Panama Canal, and District of Columbia but no Hawaii(of course) Index and gazetteer in the back. The front and back cover are rough because they are just cloth glued to brown paper. This is a very nice and original 1910 Rand McNally Business Atlas. This is a very large book that measures about 21" by 16" and is about 2" thick. It looks to have all it's 418 pages intact. This atlas is full of maps for all the States as well as many foreign countries and many of the major cities of the time. It list the names and shows the routes of all the railroads and everything that could be imagined that could have been listed. Most of the maps of each state fills 2 pages. All the maps are colored. Occasionally. A single map antique map of a state can be found individually but a complete set is rare. There is some wear and tears to the covers but all the pages inside are excellent.
