1911 Wyandotte County, Ks. map 14 X 20 Genuine
This is a large 1911 Wyandotte County. Kansas map. It measures 14 X 20 inches. It is quite detailed, showing some topography, towns, transportation lines, and other landmarks as they existed in 1911. Very detailed showing exact routes of the railroads not found in such detail on the state maps. This map is wax engraved and was issued as part of the Rand McNally Commercial Atlas. To be used by shippers and businesses to get their goods to customers and markets. During this time, many different Railroad Companies existed, so this was no mean feat. The Rand McNally Business Atlas was updated yearly to show all railroad stops, even if no population existed, such as loading areas, storage areas, and terminals. This map is genuine. Not a copy or reprint. It may have few minor handling flaws as to be expected in a map this age and large. Someone ... morehas added the section numbers in pencil around two sides of the map. Well-preserved original early 20th century antique color lithographed folio map. Printed on quality paper which retains its inherent structural flexibility and soundness. Nicely detailed. An uncommon transitional issue of this huge map with boundaries and features not likely found on earlier or later issues of it. A monumental. Almost wall-size map, not to be confused with the much more common small atlas maps by Rand McNally. This map was originally issued within a huge shipping atlas which had a far smaller production and cost much more than the normal family sized atlases the firm produced. A nice impression of an interesting antique map. Any minor defects along the sheet edges and in the margins may be seen in the photos. Sheet measures c. 20 1/2" W x 28" H. Each folio includes both topographic and geologic maps for each quadrangle represented in that folio. And normally a description of the basic and economic geology of the same area. Some folios are not beautiful from the outside, but all are very functional, and the price is right. Number/Name of Folio- No. 154 Winslow State- AR. Indian Territory- Crawford, Washington, Franklin Counties Issue Date- 1907 Contents include Pages of Text- 6 Topographic Map- 1. 30-minute size Areal Geology Map- 1 Area Features/Towns- White River. On quality paper which retains its inherent structural flexibility and soundness. The map has been extensively overprinted to show the many railroad lines then in use. These line correspond to the explanation box which gives the name of the local companies. In near VG or better condition. Some very gentle toning to edges which is hardly offensive[note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws] The printed area remains visually pleasing. This is a large 1903 Crams map of Arkansas. It measures 14 1/2 X 22 inches. This map is genuine. Not a copy or reprint. It may have a few handling flaws as to be expected in a map this age and large. Please enlarge upper scan for condition of map. Map was taken from the Cram's Modern Atlas which is near impossible to obtain. I have given a bigger image of part of the map for a better view. Good way to know what lot sizes were like then and who owned what. Some tears at folds, generally very good condition. Folded in eighths. Some general notes for all the maps I am listing now. Measurements are approximate from edge to edge of the paper. Images are generally smaller. I believe colored maps to be hand-colored. Not machine colored. I got these maps loose and do not have personal knowledge as to actual original sources.
