We are not exactly sure when this one was made, but judging from the map, frame, and the rest of the stuff from this estate, it should be in the era of 1930-40s. Overall the map with the frame is 37.25" x 24.5" x about 1" thick and weighs in at about 9.5 lbs. The map area inside the frame is approximately 35.25 x 22.5 inches. Relief Model of United States Issued 1911. Chicago by Denoyed-Gepperet Company Fine original antique offset color map. Printed on card-stock paper which retains its inherent structural flexibility and soundness. Interesting and scarce cartographic curiosity. Actually printed in relief itself! The back of the card gives the details of ordering maps, which are available, etc. Not only are the mountains printed in relief, so is the text within the border around the card. Larger than a postcard. In VG or better condition. Some light age wear, side margins slightly uneven but the image remains clean, attractive and very presentable[note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws] The printed area remains visually pleasing. A nice impression of an interesting antique map. Any minor defects along the sheet edges ... moreand in the margins may be seen in the photos. Sheet measures c. 6" W x 4 5/8" H. 1930 Ohman's New Relief Map of United States 29-1/2" x 36" Our Country
This fine old historical wall map- a 1930 Ohman's Relief Map of the United States and parts of Canada and Mexico from The Ohman Co. Memphis, TN. This vintage map is titled"Ohman's NEW RELIEF MAP OF THE UNITED STATES AND ADJOINING PORTIONS OF CANADA AND MEXICO" and measures 36" wide x 29-1/2" high. The top and bottom margins are protected with metal edging. The top has a patriotic message titled"Our Country. The back is filled with 1930 U.S. Census information including an extensive list of city and town population figures. The lower margin reads"With best wishes from American Manganese Steel Div. Wm. Black- Vice president. This manufacturing division was part of the American Brake Shoe corporation. This 84-year old map is in good condition for its age. There are some stains and horizontal creases at the ... moretop which resulted from the map being rolled. The side margins have some edge wear. Areas of paper loss a some tears. The largest of these, about 2" is in the upper left corner. There are four small holes, one in each corner, apparently the result of hanging.
