Offering up this fantastic antique sterling or coin silver Brandy Ladle for bids here. Not sure of the maker or the exact age of this as it is not marked. However. It is Definately Old, and Guaranteed to be silver. It is typical of brandy ladles of the Georgian period. The craftsmanship is Outstanding. Measures 5.75" long. Bowl area measures 3- 1/8" wide x 2- 1/8" x 1" deep. Features a Wonderful Bird on a Stump Armorial mark as shown. Unfortunately, it is missing the rest of the handle. It would have likely been made of wood, and about 4" 6" long. A new handle could Absolutely be made and reattached. Other than that, it has just minor dings and scratches. Great addition to Any antique silver collection.

The forks were made by Hyde& Goodrich of New Orleans. These are dinner size forks. In the ever popular Fiddle& Thread pattern. The forks are very heavy, made from thick silver throughout, excellent construction. Each fork is monogrammed on the reverse of the terminal with'JTJ' in elegant script. Silver pieces from the southern United States are considerably more rare, and pre-civil war pieces particularly so. A matched set of dinner size forks from this area and time period is quite a find! Here is a beautiful. Antique, engraved, gold-washed, coin-silver, dessert serving spoon by Greenwood& Bro. This is a gorgeous, one of a kind' engraved spoon- 9 1/2" long and 2 3/4" wide. Gold washing is still evident on the bowl(front and back) but not on the handle. There are no monograms, major flaws, or scratches- just the normal wear marks of a 100+ year old serving spoon that has been handled with care. Take a look at the engravings on the inside of the bowl- they are uniquely beautiful. The spoon weighs over 75 grams. H.I. Sawyer Tipt End Coin Silver Sugar Shovel
This 6 1/4" long. 7 T. oz. coin silver sugar shovel has an interesting provenance for those interested in such things. It has double markings. One is for H.I. Sawyer of Hartford, Connecticut. The second is A.T. Gage with a single die bust pseudo hallmark. John McGrew in his work on the subject. Associates this single die with Sawyer, and references it in conjunction with an A.J. Gage, possibly in New York City. Which of these two originated the piece and which retailed it. And what the relationship between them was is not documented. Pair of souvenir sterling silver salt spoons. Ft. Sumter, Charleston, SC, measuring 2-7/16" long. There is a tiny, tiny trademark which is unreadable without a jewelers' glass but I researched what I guessed it to be and my closest guess is that they may have been manufactured by M. F. Hamilton& Son, silversmiths in PA, only in business for a few years in the early 1900's. There is a raised circular piece on the ends of the handles with a miniature image of Ft. Sumter. Above it reads Ft. Sumter and below: Charleston, SC. The handles are squared at the ends. They are tarnished and were difficult to photograph for that reason. I could find no reference to these spoons anywhere and for that reason I am considering them to be rare. They will be sent insured as they may be one of a kind. Or at least one of a few. Dating from the 1860's. William Vanderslice's"Gargoyle" is one of the few patterns that is truly indigenous to San Francisco, contrary to much San Francisco silver that was retailed there but with origins outside the state. It is a dramatic design. Having an overall Gothic Revival sensibility. The piece is dominated by an open mouthed(appropriate to its namesake) lion-like figure set at the end of the handle. This example is a large. 11 1/2" long, heavy, approximately 2.8 T. oz. fish slice or server. It has an especially appealing blade with an up-swooped. Scalloped back edge and shoulders, a central vee, and beveled lower edge. The surface has a soft matte finish(while the rest of the piece has a polished finish) and is finely engraved with a scroll and ivy pattern. It is in mint.
