The metal is very thin and"soft"I can see why it would be easy to make a dent. There is no monogram. The rim is rolled. There is a floral/leaf design on the handle. It measures about 1 1/2" wide and approximately 1 1/4" high. I think it would be a neat gift to have monogrammed(after the imperfections are fixed) for a new baby or just as an addition to a cup collection or as a great piece of décor in a vintage/primitive kitchen! Antique Irish Sterling Silver Egg Cup– Hallmarked– Dublin- 1818. It is approx. 2 ¾” tall and 2 ¼” in diameter across the top rim. Weighs 2.35 oz. troy. Bird crest on one side; set of four hallmarks under rim on other side. First mark is duty mark for King George III. Second is Silver Standard mark for Ireland, third is heavily worn but appears to be City Mark for Dublin, and last is“X” date mark for 1818. Very good condition; no dents or dings. England in 1904 by the illustrious Victorian silversmiths, T H Hazlewood& Company at their Barr Street workshops. It is in a traditional shape and is raised on a superb high beaded pedestal base. It is NOT engraved. It measures 2" in diameter and stands 4 1/8" tall. It is quite substantial- it weighs 46.4 grams- which is virtually 1 1/2 troy oz. It is in very good condition for its age with just the usual surface scratching but only a few dings but NO dents. Almost NO distortion and, unusually, NO compression to the base and NO splits or repairs- A SUPERB PIECE. This beautiful piece is hallmarked ... morewith THH. All 12 are marked sterling and Shreve& Co on the bottom. Approx. weight of the sterling cup holders is 28 ounces on a kitchen scale and a digital scale.
