These lantern are heavy weight 950 Sterling Silver. The craftsman ship is excellent. They have been stored for years in the original wood box and I do not believe they were ever used. Each stands 3 3/4" in height on a three footed base. They are marked Sterling 950. The top unscrews as pictured for filling. There is still a label attached to the box that reads OKUBO BROTHERS Tokyo. Japan. I believe these were probably brought back from Japan i after World War II. The pair weighs between 59 and 60 grams. They are both in excellent condition. I did not polish and will leave that to the new owner. They will polish up beautifully. Safely packed delivery will be FREE. These salt and pepper shakers are charmingly decorated. Each tapering cylindrical body has a rich hand hammered surface in the Japanese taste. One is decorated with an applied mixed metal crane and lily-of-the-valley floral bush, and the other is decorated with an applied mixed metal bird and a goat playfully eating the leaves from a bush. Both also have a ground of applied silver granulation. These scenes are artistically rendered and create a dynamic scene against the sparkling silver surface. Both have plain, detachable cap lids that have been beautifully pierced in a starburst and anchor motif. Each shaker is stamped under the base with the identifying marks of the Gorham Manufacturing Co. the words Sterling& Other Metals, and pattern numbers A92 M and 11 EX, each lid is also stamped with a number. Both measure approx. 3" high, and are in excellent condition overall. This lovely shaker set would make a striking addition to any table, and are a wonderful example of the eclecticism of the late 19th century. These salt and pepper shakers are charmingly decorated. Each tapering cylindrical body has a rich hand hammered surface in the Japanese taste. One is decorated with an applied mixed metal crane and lily-of-the-valley floral bush, and the other is decorated with an applied mixed metal bird and a goat playfully eating the leaves from a bush. And 1-11/16 inches in diameter. they have a lovely repousse floral border. The shakers are marked with the early anchor on either side of ROGERS along with STERLING. VINTAGE STERLING SILVER VIKING SHIP SALT CELLAR & PEPPER HORN
Two complimentary Sterling Silver Pieces from internationally renowned Norwegian Silversmiths. Theodor Olsens Eftf. based in Bergen since 1868. Both Open Salt Cellar and Horn Shaped Pepper Shaker are in the style of the Norwegian Dragestil movement of the early Twentieth Century. The Dragon Ship Salt Cellar measures around 9cm long by 5cm tall. Is Hallmarked with Maker's Mark and with 925S. Sterling and Norway. The interior of the Ship is Gilded. The Dragon Pepper Horn Shaker is around 6cm tall and bears the same Maker's Mark. Again it is Hallmarked Sterling and Norway(on the reverse of the support/stand) The pull-off top is in good condition and remains a good fit. Note. There is a small pin-hole in the tail of all of these horns to help prevent moisture build- this is a design feature. Both pieces are in very good vintage condition ... morewith no dents or dings. It is worth noting that the inside of the Pepper Horn has become tarnished with age but is perfectly useable and could be cleaned if required. Vintage 925 Sterling Silver Salt & Pepper Shakers Mexico
These are plenty blackened with patina. But they are in wonderful condition! Darling too, with etched work on all the silver wrap. They are artist signed on the bottom with initials MG and stamped hecho en mexico 925(pretty easy to read on one of them, the other sterling mark is quite worn) Each is 2 5/8" tall and 1 3/8" across bottom. The sterling is wrapped over the glass and the caps appear to be sterling and at the bottom, wrapped over a hard plastic thread. Mexico, by modernist designer Antonio Pineda. Circa 1950's. The shakers stand 2" tall and the tops are 1-5/8" square. One shaker has slightly larger holes than the other. Marked on both bottoms with Antonio Pinedas's mark of a"crown with'Antonio, Taxco' inside it, Sterling, Mexico, 930, and an eagle mark. Total weight for the two shakers is 224.4 grams or 7.220 troy ounces. They are being sold from an estate and are in very good used condition. CROWN STERLING SILVER Weighted Salt & Pepper Shakers 8.2 oz
This is a pair of Crown Sterling Silver Weighted Salt and Pepper Shakers ~ glass lined. Weight 8.2 oz. They are from the late 1960's and in wonderful vintage condi tion Their is a pattern along the base of the shakers which measures 1 3/4" across. And a pattern again partially up the shakers. Their is one small nick along the base of one of the shakers. They measure 5" tall. They have a few light surface scratches and have recently been cleaned. The rectangular& footed has attached raised Mon crest on both sides with cutouts for the salt cellar glass liner and for the pepper shaker to fit in nicely. They do have some minor dings and dents, and the bottoms do not sit square. However, these are still perfectly useable, and way too good to scrap in my opinion. This type of shaker often has very beat up sterling portions, these ones are pretty good though with only one showing two tiny subtle dings. Here is a fine pair of"Empire" sterling weighted 232 salt and pepper shakers in"as new condition" Although this salt and pepper set are made from Sterling Sliver they do not have any hallmarks. This salt and pepper shaker set is from the"Empire" silver company based in Brooklyn N.Y.C. The items are marked on the based"Empire Sterling Weighted 232" I look this up on the internet and I found out that this means that the Items are made of a Sterling Silver Plate of a very heavy plate quality compared to E.P.N.S. silver plate.if the items were melted down they would contain a graded weight of Sterling Silver. This salt and pepper set retail for 150euro new. The items are in excellent condition apart for two tiny dings around the middle collar. But you ... morewould have to look hard to see them. The shakers are beautifully hand-chased with floral designs. Each shaker rests on 3 paw feet. With nicely rendered lion's heads at the juncture of feet to body. There is a cartouche on each shaker, which has been monogrammed with'B' in gothic script. The lids are pierced with slightly different sized holes, to differentiate between salt and pepper, so this is a true matched set. The lids are tension mounts, not threaded, and they fit securely. Overall this is an attractive and well-made set, and would make a lovely addition to any table setting. These pieces are stamped ... moreon the underside with the hallmark for Black. Starr& Gorham as well as the word'sterling' These pieces are in excellent condition. The details of the designs are quite crisp. The lids are very secure. There are no splits.
