Wonderful items here. I found these in a box of other sterling silver and silver plate flatware from an estate. The 2 smaller napkin rings measures approx. 1 inch tall by 1 3/4 inches wide. All are marked with the makers mark. I hope you can see that in the photos. The larger one has a monogram of the Letter L- I think it's an L? It measures approx. 1 3/4 inches tall by 2 inches wide. This is a lovely Cased Set Comprising of a Pair of Silver Plated Napkin Rings and a Pair of Silver Plated Cutlery Rests. The two napkin rings are circular in shape with a decorative raised pattern around the top and base rims This pattern is also around the circular base rims of the rests and at each end of the bar. The end supports have tall finials. The rests are of a good size and will take large serving spoons. Knives or forks and are very sturdy and the napkin rings are also of a good sturdy weight. This set comes complete in its original purple lined case Identifying Marks: There are none Dimensions: The napkin rings are just over 1.5 inches in diameter and just ovcer 1 inch tall. The cutlery rests are 4.25 inches long. 1.75 inches tall to the top of the finials and the circular bases are 1.25 inches in diameter. Pair of Antique .800 Silver German Hand Engraved and Decorated Napkin Rings
Just out of a local house is this fine pair of silver napkin rings. They were made by the silversmith Jakob Grimmdinger. He started in 1893 in Germany and was famous for his silver designs. These ring are hand tooled and decorated with a star like border. Then a beaded band. In between is a satin finished field decorated with flowers, leaves, and a banner like panel with lightly engraved monograms. Perhaps they were a marriage set. They measure about 2 1/16 inches wide and about 1 9/16 inches high. They are well marked with the.800 standard mark. Germany touchmarks, and the makers mark. See photos. An eclectic collection of eight Solid Silver Napkin rings to grace any dining table. Two hallmarked London 1952, five hallmarked Birmingham(various dates) and one not hallmarked. I will describe them as follows: Pictures 2& 3 show a matching pair of Solid Silver Napkin rings hallmarked London 1952 and Makers initials P&W. They weigh 9.4g and 9.9g and measure 4.4cms diameter and 1.9cms wide. Pictures 4. 5& 6 show the five Solid Silver Napkin rings hallmarked\Birmingham. The first one is Birmingham 1913 and has Makers initials H.G&S for Henry Griffith& Sons, weighs 11.1g and measures 4.3cms diameter and 1.6cms wide. The second one is Birmingham 1965, again with Makers initials H.G&S for Henry Griffith& Sons, weighs 11.9g and measures 4.3cms diameter and 1.5cms wide. A truly outstanding set of silver napkin rings of very heavy gauge. Band width is 1.25" Oval Diameter is 1.5" by 1.75" Weight is 53 grams per ring. The napkin rings are in excellent condition. It is difficult to decipher the maker of the items. As they surely originated as part of a set. In such sets, it was common for the larger pieces only to adorn the silversmith's markings. These napkin rings were found with various other silver tableware items. Including silver flatware with silversmith's markings that suggest manufacturing between 1861 and 1871 by William Rogers, a master American silversmith and the pioneer of the silver flatware industry. The complexity of the decorations on the outer rim of the rings suggest that the they too are pre 20th century. The items do not react magnetically whatsoever.
