It would also make an interesting and conversation provoking solid case to hold paper money securely and neatly. The bottom is smooth and the inside is sculpted into swirling textures with a light gold tint to it similar to gold wash. There is the usual hinged arm to hold the cigarettes or money in place. Plateria Del Recreo, in 1935. His hollowware was sold at some of the finest shops, among them Sanborn's, Rancho Alegre, and Maria de Taxco. This is a very heavy sterling silver cigarette box. Weighing in at 461.9 grams, just over a pound, or 14.85 troy ounces. There is a wooden lining, which I'm guessing is cedar. This is a hand-wrought piece. With a beautiful hand-chased design on the top edge. The bottom has four"feet"on the edges. Measures 6 1/2" X 4" on the lid. And 6 1/4" X 3 3/4" on the bottom. Depth is 1 3/8" from bottom of foot to top of lid. The interior of the box measures 5 15/16" X 3 3/8" X 1" Signed ... moreand hallmarked"JLR" Hecho en Mexico" Sterling 925" on top. With a crest to the lid, the motto reading'Virtue Adepta' The inside of the lid is stamped'Brook& Son. Edinburgh' It is 12.5cm wide and weighs 514g. The hinge works well and the box closes firmly. It has a split to the corner of the lid. The hallmarks are slightly rubbed, and there are a number of very small dents.

Gold washed inside with Austria silver marks on both sides:Dianakopf and import/makers mark. I made a research on Austrian marks and it looks like Alexander Sturm mark but may be I am wrong. Please look at the marks. Also the clasp is marked 230 and two letters A A(each placed ina square) and a dot below A. There is one tiny ding that is not very noticeable. Hello and thanks for looking. Up for auction is an Antique Chinese Sterling Silver Cigarette Box/Case with ornate handcrafted dragons on both sides. This case was likely made in the early 1900's and has the maker's mark stamped on the inside. The precious metal content of this case is somewhere between.800 and.950 fine silver and it weighs 74 grams or almost 2 1/2 ounces. This case has two g orgeous embossed 4 claw dragons on the top and bottom of the box with etched swirls encompassing the dragons. The box measures 3 1/4" x 2" and the clasps. A vintage sterling silver cigarette case fully hall marked for Birmingham 1935. Manufactured by S.B and S ltd. Being S Blackensee and Sons. Item measures 8cm by 6cm by 1.5cm. It is in the curved/concave style and fits snugly in an inside pocket. Thus following the contours of ones body. Quite a tactile item. Fits nicely in the palm of one hand. Takes the smaller type of cigarette such as Embassy Filter( my former tab of choice) but can take the larger type in limited numbers if placed lengthways and at an angle. Or you could use it as a swanky card case. Full length side hinge in excellent order. No issues. Snaps firmly shut and opens by depressing a button. All bright and tight. Internally. Gilding all there and nice and clean. Elastic acted straps all original, still with plenty of"twang" apparent. Cartouche is vacant/unscribed. ... moreA few small dings and I mean small dings to the concave side but importantly. The corners are not dented. Convex side in excellent order. Shows signs of use but no damage. Equally suited to a Male or Female. Much nicer than having a crumpled packet of Bensons floating around in your bag. You are looking at an antique Russian CIgarette so-called'Samorodok' Case. Cigarette cases like this one were quite popular among top silversmiths in Russia. Since on the hallmark it has a mark with CC lettering(Please see pictures below) I'm guessing that this one has to be made by S. Stroganov. Circa late 1800's. Beginning of 1900's. Exact date unfortunately is not known. However it is a buyer's discretion to do research before bidding and make informed decision based on the own research and provided photos only. Has blue cabochon stone thumb piece. From the inside the case looks like has been originally gold plated. Thumb piece could be made either from gold or it could be a gold plated silver because of its color. Case overall is in good condition. BLANCKENSEE& SONS VINTAGE Sterling Silver Cigarette or Cheroot Case This is a nice cigarette case of curved design. So as not to disturb the line of a gentleman's clothing, with overall light scratches& e few minor dings through use. There is a cartouche to the front engraved with'GS' and the interior has a gilt finish. The retaining elastic is intact though i think it has been replaced. The case measures 90mm by 85mm. Not including the catches few minor dings through use and the catch and hinge are in excellent condition. There is a good clear set of hallmarks to the interior from the Birmingham assay office capitail S.I have weighed it on my scales that are right by post office ones& it weighs 110grams. Up for auction is a beaut iful. Antique Art Deco sterling silver& black enamel cigarette case by Napier. The Napier Company got its start in North Attleboro. Massachusetts 1875, under the name Whitney and Rice, manufacturing silver men's watch chains. In 1882, the company became known as Carpenter and Bliss, and shortly thereafter it had become the E. A. Bliss Company. The company relocated to Meriden, Connecticut in 1890, after the company sustained rapid growth in the previous decade. The inner arm is stamped with Napier Sterling as well as the numbers 554/423. The number 998 is also etched into the inner arm. The case measures 4-3/16" long. 3" wide. And weighs 128.5g. The full description is below all photos Here is a lovely solid sterling silver cigarette/ jewellery box with engine turned decoration. Vacant cartouche and hardwood interior. It is fully hallmarked for Chester 1922 with makers mark T&S. 4.5" x 3.5" and 2" high. Gross weight is 320g. There are dents to some corners of the lid and a couple of small dinks that are quite minor. The lid does not have a wooden lining. I have not cleaned it Please see photos for detail. An incredibly ornate and fine antique repousse sterling silver(could not find any mark. But tested and guaranteed all solid sterling silver) card case(might be cigarette case, but could be too small) with comprehensive floral and branch motif(looking like a tree) throughout, engraved"J.K.K. on the front center shield, in excellent condition. Appox. 3.5" x 2.05" x 0.5" The interior looks like gilded to me. Appox. 58.7 grams. Absolutely gorgeous. Hinges work perfectly. It opens and shuts nicely. A hard to come by fine piece.
