Beautiful antique English silver plate food Dome. Measures approx 15” long and approx 9” tall including handle. Great antique condition with just few ... moresmall insignificant dings, some tarnish etc. but overall great antique condition. I’ve been collecting these domes for decades because they bring a modern elegance to a space and this look is hard to come by. They can be used in many different ways ……. Look great displayed on top of furniture or below furniture or just simply displayed. This dome has no monogram and cartouche is empty. What a wonderful classic look!! And the neoclassical design is beautiful! Priced to sell

ENGLISH GEORGIAN ANTIQUE STERLING SILVER - Gilbert Collection de Lamerie Storr
The Gilbert Collection of Gold and Silver" By Timothy B. Schroder. Published by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art& Thames& Hudson in 1988. DISCUSSION: Philanthropists Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert passionately amassed what was probably the finest private collection of goldsmiths' work in the world. Early on they concentrated on Georgian silver—in particular 18th and early 19th century works by English masters Paul de Lamerie and Paul Storr— and later broadened the collection to survey English and Continental goldsmith's work from the Renaissance to the Victorian era. This 1988 volume is from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Where pieces from the Gilbert Collection were displayed before Arthur donated them to his native Britain. It catalogs 175 exquisite items, from a very rare Tudor silver-gilt casting bottle, ... morewith tiny dragons holding its chain handle, to an enormous cup with scenes and figures commemorating the life of Lafayette, presented to his son George Washington Lafayette after his father's death. Here too are a collection of elegant German tankards; a cup carved from a coconut to look like a somewhat pudgy hawk, with jewels and silver wings; and a 17th-century wager cup shaped like a maiden, which was later fitted with a clockwork mechanism under her skirt so she could roll along the table. Many are seen in color plates; all are shown in a large main view with smaller detail views of noteworthy features and the smith's marks, and their provenance and construction are thoroughly described. DESCRIPTION: Hardcover. 9.5”x11” 688 pages, filled with black& white and color illustrations, dust jacket. CONDITION NOTES: In fine. Clean condition. QUESTIONS about this item? Antique ENGLISH SILVER DISHES & BOWLS -Clark Institute Sterling Tableware
Old Silver Bowls and Dishes” By Peter Guille. Published by the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute in 1964. DISCUSSION: An exhibition drawn from the museum's collection. Basically 18th century London work with a few Irish examples. The photos are still stark-silver against a black background. But not as contrasty as in the 1960 catalog, with more detail showing. Quite lovely. In 1910. After a distinguished career in the United States Army, Sterling Clark settled in Paris and began collecting works of art, an interest he inherited from his parents. When he married Francine Clary in 1919, she joined him in what quickly became a shared passion. Together they created a remarkable collection of paintings, silver, sculpture, porcelain, drawings, and prints with complete reliance on their own judgments and tastes. In 1950 the Clarks founded ... morethe Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute as a permanent home for their collection, and the museum first opened to the public in 1955. Since its conception, the Institute has had a dual mission as both a museum and a center for research and higher education. It is in this spirit that the Clark has expanded over the last five decades to become the influential institution it is today” from the Museum website) DESCRIPTION: Softcover. 6.5”x10” 8 pages of text plus 34 black& white plates. We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. Spoons probably have the longest history of any artifact and have been made ever since man discovered that handling liquids was vital to his existence. In this new color edition of a popular title. Simon Moore traces the history of English spoons, noting their social position in history and the many changes in style and form as their versatility was discovered. Spoons that once graced medieval ducal tables and those of base metal used by commoners are illustrated and described. The author gives collectors some guidelines to follow should they find an antique spoon of unknown origin and date or be asked for an opinion. For this second edition the coverage of the British Arts and Crafts Movement has been expanded, examining its contribution to European design at the turn of the nineteenth century and showing how this influence was revisited on British design in the following decades. The Candlesticks are one of the finest and most ornate Victorian Pairs I have sold in a very long time. The Candlesticks feature large tripod bases with beautiful Victorian Repousse designs throughout. They are really over the top examples and much nicer than my photos show. I am sure the new owner will love them as much as I do. The Candlesticks are also quite large examples standing 11-1/2" tall by 3-1/2" wide across the bases. They are also in very fine all original condition with only the most minor signs of age and use, nothing to detract from the beauty and certainly no cracks, repairs or large dents. They also stand nice and true and are quite heavy so no worries about them tipping over even if you are using long tapers. The Candlesticks are marked by the maker, I do not recognize the mark, but judging by how fine this pair is, they were a top quality period company.
