Antique 113.9g Sterling Silver Gothic Arched 6 Section Toast Rack dated 1930
Superb Antique Sterling Silver Arched 6 Section Dining Table Toast Rack from Birmingham dated 1930 This Antique Toast Rack measures approximately 4 1/ 2 inches or 1 14 mm across its length from end to end by 2 3/8 inches or 61 mm across the width from side to side and it stands just over 3 5/8 inches or 93 mm tall to the top of its handle. The toast rack is made from 113.9 grams of sterling silver with a Gothic arch or church window like shaped body that has seven dividers resulting in six toast sections and the central divider has a delightfully shaped handle on the top. The toast rack stands on four short bracket like legs and it has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram all as photographed below. One side of the lower body has been impressed with a full set of English sterling silver hallmarks that read as ... morefollows, A Bros Ltd- Anchor- Lion Passant- F A Bros Ltd is the Birmingham silversmith or makers mark of Adie Brothers Ltd. The Anchor is the mark of the Birmingham assay office. The Lion Passant is the mark of English 925 standard sterling silver and the letter F is the date letter for 19 3 0. The condition is used and near Mint for its age. The Toast Rack has No Dents. No Splits, No Cracks, No Holes and No Repairs that I can find, the rack stands straight, the definition is crisp, the silver hallmarks are still clearly legible although as the toast rack is a used antique it has some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use along with the patina of age that is to be expected and a gentle clean would not go amiss. Personally I think that this antique six section toast rack can still be used today not only as toast rack but also as a desk top letter rack and that it would make a superb addition to any collection, I also think that it looks fantastic considering that it's almost 8 5 years old. Art Deco Royal Doulton Hukin & Heath Silver Plated Toast Rack & Butter Dish
This is a very unusual item which was most probably originally part of a ladies breakfast tray. The toast rack is silver plated and made by Hukin and Heath with their mark on one of the feet(H& H in 3 circles) together with number 301. On another foot is the English patent number 2070-06 and on the third foot is the French patent Brevete SGDG No. 360032. The pink and white porcelain butter dish is by Royal Doulton and is stamped 1.25 which I believe indicates a date of January 1925. This is confirmed by the backstamp. With no crown under the lion, that was only used from 1922-27. This delightful piece is in very good condition- the silver needs a good clean but I will leave that pleasure to the new owner. There are no chips. Cracks or crazing on the dish. It stands 4.5in/11.5cm high and the dish is 3.25in/8.5cm in diameter. ANTIQUE SILVER TOAST RACK HOLDER W/COVERED BUTTER DISH D& S* DEYKIN& SONS Up for auction is an antique toast rack/holder with a covered butter dish. I am certainly no expert in this field. I don't think it is sterling. It is probably silver plated. There are some marks on the bottom, one says REGISTERED. DEC. I. 1870. The other mark is some letters and symbols, there is a letter A inside a shield, a rooster and another mark and the letters D& S, all inside squares. I think this may have been made by Deykin& Sons. This rack measures 8 7/8" x 6 1/8" x 7 3/4" tall. I think the butter dish is original, it is a milky colored glass with beading around the upper edge. There are some imperfections and air bubbles in the glass and there are a couple of small chips on the bottom edge. The lid has a design on the top ... moreand a cut out design around the lower edge. The rack is quite nice, there is a little tarnish and there are some light colored spots, looks like someone used some silver polish on it. The rack has screws and is held on with nuts, all of these nuts are a little different, probably replaced over the years. Very nice piece. I find most of my auction items at estate sales and yard sales. There may be some smoke or pet or musty odors. I will make a note of any odors in the description. I try to clean things as much as possible, if something needs extra attention, I will let you know. Some items I will not clean if I don't know the proper cleaning method. Very unusual expanding silver plated toast rack. Which I believe could be a christopher Dresser design, It is very much in his style and similar to pieces by James Dixon and Sons, and Walker and Hall but I can't be sure as there is no signature I can see. the toastrack is 6 inches to the top of the handle and 4 inches from edge of the ball feet to the other.It is 2.5inches closed and is 17 inches spread out. As mentioned I could see no makers marks,but it could do with a clean as it is quite tarnished.I believe it is a C19th piece, the condition is good but there is some wear to the plate. a lovely and unsusal item

A salver and tray specialist. Tost racks with his mark never found. Classic rectangular design with elegant slender petal gadroon rim. Superb Art Deco Sterling Silver 6 Section Toast Rack by Deakin& Francis of Birmingham dated 1932 This Antique Toast Rack measures approximately 4 5/ 8 inches or 1 18 mm in length from end to end by 2 1/ 2 inches or 64 mm across the widest part of its body from side to side and it stands 3 inches or 7 7 mm tall to the top of its handle. The toast rack is made from 87.2 grams of sterling silver with a wonderful geometrically shaped body that has seven dividers resulting in six toast sections and the central divider has a delightfully shaped handle on the top. The toast rack has a splayed or angled lower body that stands on four short bracket like legs and it has a pair of raised relief stepped geometric fan shaped panels on the sides of either end. The geometric shape and decoration of this toast rack is very typically Art Deco in style ... moreand it has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram all as photographed below. One side of the lower body has been impressed with a full set of English sterling silver hallmarks that read as follows, D& F- Anchor- Lion Passant- H D& F is the Birmingham silversmith or makers mark of Deakin& Francis Ltd. The Anchor is the mark of the Birmingham assay office. The Lion Passant is the mark of English 925 standard sterling silver and the letter H is the date letter for 19 32. The condition is used and near Mint for its age. The Toast Rack has No Dents. No Splits, No Cracks, No Holes and No Repairs that I can find, the toast rack stands straight, the decoration and definition is very crisp, the silver hallmarks are still clearly legible although as the toast rack is a used antique it does have some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use along with the patina of age that is to be expected and a gentle clean would not go amiss. This late Victorian novelty toast rack in silverplate is made up from a series of cast Wishbones including one central large one creating an integral handle. A very nice and rare Crown Ducal Orange Tree 4 slice toast rack. The rack is 5 inches long and 4 inches wide with the side dividers standing 3 inches tall and the centre divider standing 4 inches tall. The item is in excellent condition with the colours bright and bold and no chips or cracks. HOWEVER due to a firing fault the rack does not sit true to the surface. The toast rack sits on 3 of the 4 corners with the 4th corner slightly raised from the surface(please see photo) this is a firing fault and not the result of any damage to the rack.
