This auction is for a 1929 DANISH 826 Solid Silver Tea or Coffee set. This set is almost identical to set produced by Grann& Laglye from Denmark listed now for $4950.00 The set is hallmarked for 1929 and the assayer was Sigsgaard with the maker being A. Mathieson. This set is HAND MADE and quite beautiful with a Georg Jensen style Grape or Berry decorating the finial and handles of the set. If you look closely at the close-up photo of the silver. You can see the hammer marks from the maker. The set is 89 years old. This nice Gorham sterling silver tea and coffee service includes the 2 pint teapot(A2341) The 1 1/2 pint coffee pot(A2342) the waste bowl(A2343) the 7/8 pint cream pitcher(A2344) and the sugar bowl(A2345) The set is monogrammed. And it is in nice overall condition. Upon reasonably close inspection. I could find minor scratching consistent with normal use, one small visible dent in the coffee pot, and four other tiny dents in the other pieces. The dents are shown in the photographs. I see light random tarnish but no significant dark spots or corrosion. The covers fit well. And the handles are solid. The height of the 2-pint teapot is about 8 inches. And the total weight of the 5-piece set is about 56 avoirdupois ounces or 51 troy ounces(according to my postage scale and my calculations) A quick search of the internet shows that this Gorham ... moreButtercup tea and coffee service sells regularly for $3.200 to $7,400, apparently depending upon the condition, the age, the market, and other factors. At the time I posted this auction. Replacements Ltd. had two sets for sale, one at $3,199 and the other at $3,499. Gorham has discontinued this classic and desirable pattern. And so, the value of this set is not likely to decrease in the future. Gorham Manufacturing Company of Providence. Rhode Island, introduced the"Buttercup" pattern(495) in about 1899. The amount of handwork in this pattern is enormous. The tea and coffee service have ovoid bodies, upswept handles, and raised oval rim bases. The bodies are chased and snarled with blossoms and leaves enclosing large vacant cartouches. In this set. These cartouches are monogrammed on one side. The floral and foliate chasing is repeated on the handles. Spout bases, and covers. The oval covers have pointed oval button finials with sweeping. Lined cartouches descending to the surrounding pattern. Hallmarks of“STERLING” the rampant lion on the bottom of all pieces indicate they are made of.925 silver alloy. Beautiful 3 piece set. Pot is 8 1/2" high and 4 1/2" in central diameter. The creamer is 4 1/2" high and 3" in diameter and the sugar bowl is 3" high. The pot has ivory heat insulation bands in the handle. All 3 pieces have square bases with the markings"Black Starr& Frost" sterling" a spreadeagle hallmark and the number"60" in each corner of the underside. With the exception of the sugar bowl which has one blank corner and"Black Starr& Frost" below"sterling" both in another corner. The total weight of the set on a POSTAL SCALE is 17 oz. so you need to convert that to Troy ounces. The set has been used but the only evidence of this is one small dent on the left side of the pot and another on the right front side of the creamer.

Sterling Silver Coffee Tea Set. Made by International, 1940 Presented is a fine 3 piece sterling silver demitasse tea set of good weight made by the International Silver Company. Each piece is raised on a pedestal base and has a sinuous monogram of the initials JSJ on the front. The creamer and sugar bowl have a faint gold wash on their interiors. This set includes: 1 Teapot: 8 1/4 inches from handle to spout and 9 1/4 inches tall. 1 Creamer: 4 7/8 inches from handle to spout and 3 1/4 inches tall. 1 Sugar Bowl: 5 1/4 inches from handle to handle and 3 1/2 inches tall. The underside of each piece is marked International and sterling. This set is in fabulous condition. The set could use a little polishing. This is a very lovey antique Chinese bamboo Tea set. The whole set consist of 1 creamer. 1 sugar bowl, 1 tea pot, and 1 tray. Each piece is filled with magnificent details of leaves, trees, and bamboo. It’s a very cool and unique set it has bamboo handles, tops, trinket, etc. There is a monogram on the tray as you can see in the photos. Both the milk jug and sugar bowl have interior gilding. The set is of half lobbed pattern with oval stepped bases. The handles of all 3 pieces are very secure and the lid of the teapot closes perfectly. The sugar bowl and the milk jug are initialled with the letters ISU. The teapot has an attractive finial.
