The top is lovely with the sterling silver crafted into small hammed dots and with a box outline in the middle with a monogram of AO. It would also make an interesting and conversation provoking solid case to hold paper money securely and neatly. The bottom is smooth and the inside is sculpted into swirling textures with a light gold tint to it similar to gold wash. There is the usual hinged arm to hold the cigarettes or money in place. Plateria Del Recreo, in 1935. His hollowware was sold at some of the finest shops, among them Sanborn's, Rancho Alegre, and Maria de Taxco. This is a very heavy sterling silver cigarette box. Weighing in at 461.9 grams, just over a pound, or 14.85 troy ounces. There is a wooden lining, which I'm guessing is cedar. This is a hand-wrought piece. With a beautiful hand-chased design on the top edge. The bottom has four"feet"on the edges. Measures 6 1/2" X 4" on the lid. And 6 1/4" X 3 3/4" on the bottom. Depth is 1 3/8" from bottom of foot to top of lid. The interior of the box measures 5 15/16" X 3 3/8" X 1" Signed ... moreand hallmarked"JLR" Hecho en Mexico" Sterling 925" on top. Inner lid is marked"Sterling 925 Mexico" along with the eagle assay 9, which was assigned to Hector Aguilar. This is a Victorian hallmarked sterling silver cigarette box. It was assayed in Birmingham in 1892/3 and made by Samuel Walton Smith. It is of rectangular form. With a crest to the lid, the motto reading'Virtue Adepta' The inside of the lid is stamped'Brook& Son. Edinburgh' It is 12.5cm wide and weighs 514g. The hinge works well and the box closes firmly. It has a split to the corner of the lid. The hallmarks are slightly rubbed, and there are a number of very small dents.

A very impressive Russian Imperial cigarette case made in Moscow by silversmith Ivan Khlebnikov( Иван Хлебников) All the marks are present on both sides. A very high profile image based on the poem"DEmon" by M.Lermontov. The case measures 4'1/4 x 3'3/8 x 3/4 or 11 cm x 8.5 cm x 2 cm and weights 5.2 troy ounce or 162 grams. The case closes very nice and snug. A hair small crack by the red stone cabochon thumb-piece and one loop for the rubber bend is missing. Otherwise in excellent condition. Measures 4"L x 2.8"W The hinge lock works very well and the case closes tightly without gaps. Marked with 84 numeral with left facing woman's head in profile within an oval cartouch.Wearing the peasant headdress named kokoshnik. To her left numeral 84. Also marked with letters in Cyrillic corresponding ro maker Shaposhnikov. The mark is shown on pictures and last pic from Postnikova-Loseva Russian Silver Hallmarks Book. Sterling Silver Intricately Designed Cigarette Holder, 925 Mexico
This is a beautifully designed sterling silver cigarette holder. It is intricately engraved all around. And from top to bottom. In addition. It has 3 round balls, spaced apart over the length of the holder. It appears that they were applied to make the holder more comfortable to hold so it will not slip out of your hand. It is marked STERLING TAXCO, and is in excellent condition. In terms of measurements. It is 3 1/4" long and weighs 6.5 grams. A charming piece!
