This fabulous quality sterling silver and enamel spoon was made by Anton Michelsen one of Denmark's foremost silver companies as part of an annual Christmas tradition dating from 1910 where a noted artist would be called upon to produce a design for a spoon and fork to commemorate Christmas of that year. This 1953 spoon was designed by Ebbe and Karen Clemmenson. This is made of 826 fine silver, sterling silver is 925 so there is slightly less silver in this alloy. It is an heavy piece with elegant style and detailing including a light gold wash in bowl. The condition is excellent with no monogram. This is a useful item for sugar casting, stew and vegetable servings and would make a nice gift for the collector of silver. The spoon was made by the notable silversmith, Anton Michelsen, of Copenhagen, Denmark, and was designed for him by Jens Ingwersen. The spoon's finial combines elements of the royal coats of arms of both Denmark and Sweden. This item is in EXCELLENT VINTAGE CONDITION and displays only light wear. It has no dents. In the 1850’s. Michelsen was commissioned to redesign the Royal Medals and has been making these by appointment ever since. Michelsens was the first and last company to work in the old Nordic style. The Company was bought out by Royal Copenhagen Porcelain in 1968. Royal Copenhagen went on to purchase Georg Jensen and Michelsen was gradually merged with Jensen. Today only the annual forks and spoons bear the Michelsen name. This solid silver coffee or tea pot features the Official Mark of Copenhagen. Denmark, 1899 on the bottom of the pot. This silver spoon was made in 1921 by the famous Danish silversmith Anton Michelsen. Copenhagen, Denmark. He made his first Christmas spoon in 1910. Every year up to 2003- when the rights to the Christmas spoon were sold to Georg Jensen- the Michelsen Company invited young designers to design a Christmas Spoon. This one from 1921 was designed by H. Slott-Møller. The motiv is"Juleskibet" The Christmas Ship. Danish flags enamel on top. On the back of the light gilded blade Copenhagens city silvermark. 3 towers with"21" og 1921. And a crowned M for Michelsen, Purveyor to His Majesty. 3 7 41 Vintage Salt& Pepper Shakers This is a Beautiful Vintage Set of four Sterling Silver with Enamel Salt and Pepper Shakers by Anton Michelsen of Copenhagen. Denmark. This lovely set has a beautiful blueish purplish enamel with an egg shape. All of the shakers have 16 holes in the top. The bottoms have a turn and lock style plug. The base of each of these is marked A.Michelsen Copenhagan Sterling Denmark. Three of the bases have a M9 and one has a K9 stamped on the bottom. They measure 2" tall and 40mm in diameter at the widest point. The total weight of the shakers is 170.5 grams. They have not been polished.
