Paden City Glass hammered sterling silver art deco decanter Betty Mae set rare
Found about 5 years ago at the best estate sale I've ever been to in Estacada. Oregon. The owners who were deceased traveled the world, showed horses and lived in a great log house on the Clackamas River. First time listed on e-bay. Great heavy glass and hammered and painted or enameled silver Paden City Glass Art Deco era decanter set. Betty Mae line and per research I have done this is a rare find in sterling silver overlay but please note I cannot find any sterling hallmarks I am just going on research found. No silver found damaged or missing.Great bottle with ground glass and hammered silver metal lid has stretched hammered silver over the stopper and ends of the bottle and edges of the matching tray. All there. Apparently there were originally cordial glasses that also went with this and sat on the tray but these are long gone, ... morebut would not be difficult to replace for display/use with others. Please see all photos. First; the tray is approx 10 2/8 inches from handle to handle and 6 inches wide. Thick glass with painted silver edges and handles. The glass is thick with waves and some bubbles. Just the way you like to see old glass. The bottle sits in an edged area on the tray so it does not slide around. It is approx 6 inches wide and 5 inches tall with the stopper in place. The front is etched with vertical lines. The ends have hammered silver over the top. The neck and rim are painted or enameled silver. I have not touched the silver which has aged patina. Should polish out great if this is what the new owner wants to do. I leave that up to the buyer. The stopper is glass with a ground glass stopper and hammered silver top that has been covered over the glass. No markings seen. No cracks. No chips, no damage. 3.33 pounds unpacked weight. Measures 5.75" highest point by 4.75" widest point. Silver overlay was polished by me. However, it still has a dullness that may brighten up a bit more with some more polishing. I don't feel or see any cracks or repairs. Nice, smooth condition, pretty ruby red, for its estimated vintage age. It is pre-owned. Not new and not perfect. I polished the silver and you can see the word STERLING on each side in center of the decorative floral design. While pitcher is not dated. I do not know if it is sterling silver but the silver does contain marks on it- one of the markings looks like it could say 800 or 900 on the left and the other marking looks like it could say"Bastos" Again. I cannot make out exactly what it say's so I have provided the best up close picture I could. There are a few small knicks on the inside of the cobalt dish but defiantly not anything major! A beautiful cut glass pin/ trinket box/dish/ tray with an embossed sterling silver lid. The item measures 9 x 4 x 3.5 cm's. The full description is below the following photos This is a lovely solid sterling silver twin handled olive dish with pierced decoration and standing on four stylish feet. It comes complete with its original blue glass liner. It is fully hallmarked for Chester 1929 with makers mark for Z. Barraclough and Sons. 5.25" x 3.2" and 1.5" high. Gross weight is 167.6g and silver weight 41g. Very good condition. Thereb are a couple of dinks and surface scratches to the liner. A highly sought after dish that would grace any table. Antique Gorham Sterling Silver &Cobalt Glass Sugar Caster Shaker Great Condition
This is a gorgeous antique sterling silver and cobalt glass sugar caster or shaker. It was made by Gorham. Probably early in the 20th Century. Marked LION ANCHOR G STERLING and A 9037. It is 5 and 1/2 inches tall by 2 and 1/4 inches across. I can not get the glass all the way out- only about half way. I don't want to force it further. I see one tiny ding on the silver, and no flea bites, cracks or chips in the silver. Never monogrammed. I know from looking at someone who had an identical item listed that the sterling weighs 2.6 oz. The top alone weighs 1 oz. Early Tiffany Studios favrile art glass floriform vase with Tiffany& Co Sterling silver base. No glass damage. Cracks or chips. c. 1891-1902 This is a great early Tiffany floriform vase with a Tiffany& Co Sterling silver base. The sterling base has a nice wide sturdy base with a feather or acanthus leaf integrated design. A matching feather/ acanthus leaf motif is carried up the stem form fitting the glass vase. The glass vase has cut lines around the bottom that interlock with the silver vase. This demonstrates that the glass vase section was fitted to the silver vase prior to the acanthus leaves being installed during production and that the silver was made specifically to fit only this one glass vase. I have seen other pieces that were a collaboration between Tiffany& Co. Silver& Tiffany Studios. These companies were being ... morerun by father and son during the time period dated on the silver. This is an early piece of Tiffany glass with no iridescence. It is documented that the Father. Charles L Tiffany of Tiffany& Co, did not care the iridescence on the glass. The highest extending acanthus leaf. At some point in it life, was professionally repaired(photographed below) the repair is almost undetectable from the outside and from the inside(photographed below) you only see a small cleaned spot were the repair was made. This auction is for a beautiful pair of cut crystal dresser jars with sterling silver lids marked with the Webster Sterling hallmark. Each jar measures 3 inches tall and is approximately 3-1/4 inches in diameter. The jars are both in excellent condition with no chips. Flakes, bites, nicks or cracks. Both have polished rims and bases. There is one closed powder jar lid and one open hair receptical lid. The powder jar lid weighs 20.2 grams, and has one noticable dent on the edge, and another very tiny one on the underside of the rim. It is also monogramed in script with interlocking CC. The Hair receptical lid weighs 21.3 Grams, and also has two or three noticable dents on the edge. Total weight of the two lids combined is 41.5 grams. Other than the dents on the edges of the silver lids, there is light scuffing but not deep scratches, gouges, ... moreor breaks. The cut glass bowl is classically designed with hobbstar and fan designs. The rim has thick sterling silver mounts with crisp. Raised scroll design along the edge. The sterling rim is marked with the Gorham hallmark. Sterling and has a date symbol of the Trident for 1897. This piece is in great condition. The sterling mounts are in perfect condition. This is a very nice vintage sterling silver overlay glass Nestle jar from an estate. This jar measures 4 1/2" tall x 2 3/8" and weighs 6 1/2 ounces. The lid is the original iron lid.
