The sides are ribbed and have a nice look. The piece is decorated a hand colored transfer floral design. That is the outline of the floral design is a transfer which was then hand colored. The delicate floral design is very colorful and has green. Red, brown and yellow. The entire piece has a nice yellow cream coloring with a brown design at the rim and the back of the handle. The piece has a hinged pewter lid which is attached to the handle. The lid has a thumb piece to open it with. The lid has a central dome surrounded by a nice incised geometric design. The piece is marked on the bottom with the word"IVOIRE. The inside is also glazed with the same background coloring. Just a great looking antique. Please carefully view photos as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: Mid to late 1800s. Origin: Was purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania Size: Measures ~2 1/2" diameter at the base. ~2 1/2" diameter at the top, and is ~6 3/4" at its highest to the top of the thumb piece. Antique Brown Transfer Staffordshire Sugar Bowl Unusual Rare Pattern
Here is a very unusual antique Staffordshire brown transferware sugar bowl. It is decorated in a fern and floral pattern that I've never seen before. It is marked with a beehive on the bottom and L. S. S. It is in very good condition with only a couple of issues. It has a chip on the bottom rim. It has roughness. Nicks, and stains on the rim of the mouth. It has a spider craze on the bottom. It has crazing. Staining and a hairline on the lid. See images) None of these issues is visible from the exterior. And the piece displays nicely. It measures 6- 1/2 inches tall with the lid on.
