Up for auction is a fine vintage figural porcelain creamer. The creamer stands 5.75 inches tall. Measures 5 inches from chin to edge of handle and has a base diameter of 2.75 inches. No detection of any chips, cracks or hairlines. It would benefit from a proper cleaning inside otherwise a nice example. The creamer appears to be a bear/monkey wearing a hat and coat with a cane in one hand and flowers in the other. There is a faint incised mark on the bottom but very difficult to decipher. If I had to guess it might say Germany and have a# above it but i am not sure. A very rare. Hard-to-find set. A not often found complete set of teapot, sugar bowl and creamer. Shafford exported pieces to the United States from Japan starting in the 1940s and ending in the 1970s. Shafford produced china planter mugs depicting famous people, music boxes, figurines, pitchers, pill cups, candle holders and a host of other novelty items. Shafford used a variety of labels on their china. Certain Shafford dinnerware is marked with a foil label that says"Japan. Figurines have different types of marking. They may be marked with numbers; some Shafford cats made in the 1960s are marked with Roman numerals, according to the Animal Figurines Gallery Index. 1930's Figural Art Deco Ditmar Urback Toucan Creamer
Up for sale is an antique Ditmar-Urbach figural Art Deco cream dispenser(or creamer) in the shape of a Toucan. This creamer was made somewhere betweein 1930 and 1937. And the Toucan theme formed the basis of many variations of ceramic pottery from pitcher to creamer to many other functional ceramics ranging from monotone colors to multi-color pieces. This creamer stands 5 1/4 inches tall and 5 inches wide at its widest point. The handle forms a narrow oblique loop from the back of the Toucan's head to the base and is quite sturdy. The creamer is a single monotone blue verging on pastel blue, similar to that used by Van Briggle in Colorado Springs during it's hay day. The Toucan Creamer has a few flaws that occurred during the firing of the piece; a few chips around the base, eye, and tip of beak; and areas where the finish glaze has ... moreworn thin. The glazing also appears to have crazed in places giving the piece a lot of character. Information on the Company, Ditmar-Urback- The company was founded by the Urback brothers in 1882. The factory was eventually combined to create one entity and in 1913 the company was bought by Tripis in Triptis. In 1919 Triptis AG was dissolved and Richard Lichtenstern bought the company back. In 1938 it was confiscated by the Nazis and became Ostmark-Ceramics AG. In 1945 the Factory was nationalized. Up for sale is a vintage German Rooster Creamer. It is quite fragile and I believe quite old. It is painted with bright colors on one side and not so many colors on the other. It does not say Germany. But the broken sugar that matched it did say Germany. It is about 6 inches long and 4 inches high. There are a couple of rough spots around the opening where the cream goes in. They may be small chipped areas. But they almost seem to be scraped finish. Shown are a pair of antique English Staffordshire figural Spaniel ewers or creamers. Dating to circa 1860. One is a little taller than the other(see measurements) but both have molded fur, are painted black on white, with a handle curving where the tail would be, and they each wear an orange bow with gold around the neck. The handles are decorated with gilded accents. Measurements: One stands about 7 1/2" high and measures 4 3/8" x 2 3/4" at the base and the other stands about 7 1/4" and measures 4" x 2 3/8" at base.
