In an early plain Georgian style un-banded configuration, completed in a gorgeous blue finger ring hand Dabbed finish. This classic Georgian style buff clay rimmed bottom tankard is part of the second generation Victorian highly decorative Spongeware, which is generally considered between 1855& 1875, when hand Dabbing switched to the stick spatter application finish. The early to mid Victorian Scottish/ English molded serving pieces are few and far between. Pink and blue banded stoneware custard/dessert bowls, it is marked on bottom USA E-14, it measures about 3 1/2" in diameter and x 3" high. They all have some discoloration and crazing/crackling on the inside and outside of each bowl. 1 has a chip on the rim, 1 has a crack and chips on the bottom, 1 has what appears to an imperfection on the rim, 1 has faint blue line through the pink band and a couple blue spots but no chips or cracks. Johnson Brothers Blue Banded Pitcher Laurens County SC ca. 1910
I am pleased to offer for your consideration this vintage blue banded pitcher attributed to the Johnson pottery of Laurens County. The Johnsons moved from the Catawba Valley to Laurens aoround the turn of the century and operated a pottery at Lanford Station. Their earliest wares more closely resembled pottery from the Catawba Valley. But they developed a glass glaze using broken soda bottles and began using cobalt banding for decoration. This example has a heavy glass glaze, and the orange clay base that is typical for Laurens pottery. This piece measures 9 3/4" and is about 1 gallon. This dates to the late 19th century or very early 20th centur y. Over all condition is good. No chips. There is a tight hairline at the interior(see last photo) and few small glaze pops and bumps. There are a couple of dark spots and one dark line in the glaze. All over crazing to glaze but no darkening. Measures just 1 5/8" tall. 2 7/8" wide with the handle, 1" in diameter at the base and just under 2 1/4" in diameter at the rim. No markings found. Check my auctions for a second piece of blue. They feature a stepped side with a pink stripe or band highlighting each step. They also have a wide pink stripe/band with blue stripes/bands. One bowl measures 7" diameter x 4" high. Marked on the bottom under heavy glaze USA E-1-7. Excellent condition with no chips. Cracks or crazing to the naked eye. Some very minor staining inside the bowl. The other bowl measures 5 3/16" diameter x 3 1/4" high. Marked clearly on the bottom E-1-5. Good condition for display. No chips. It does have some crazing with some light staining. Mocha Blue Banded Spongeware Plate - England circa 1850's
This Cut Spongeware Plate is ~ 8 7/8" in diameter and has a floral& star pattern done in Red. Green, and Blue. There is a Blue band around the perimeter of the plate. The plate shows the expected wear, aging, crazing, stilt marks and has several clay imperfections not repaired by the potter. Represented to my wife on her purchase in 2004, the plate is circa 1850's. I could not locate a potter's mark with a squiggle mark so the age could not be verified and my research of the Made In England surrounded by a wreath brought no success either.My wife collected for many years- please check my other listings. McCoy Mixing Bowl- Beautiful Pink& Blue Banded on Cream- 9 1/2" Diameter. This is a vintage McCoy Mixing Bowl- almond or cream colored background with pink and blue stripe. This bowl measures 4 1/2 in h x 9 1/2 diameter. This bowl has been well used and the maker mark on the bottom is very faint but you can make out ovenproof and USA- can't make out the number. Bowl shows signs of wear- utensil marks on interior and some discoloration which adds to it's character. It has 3 kiln marks on the bottom interior and exterior- there is also a rough spot on the side near the rim whbich also looks to have come from the kiln. Up for sale are 2 Vintage Yellow Ware Pottery Mixing Bowls. The first bowl features 3(1 thick band& 2 thin bands in middle) brown bands or stripes around the bowl. It measures approx. 5.5" tall. 10" in diameter, and 5.25" diameter at base. The bowl also has a curved like design around the bowl in the yellow above and below the brown stripes. There is a crack on inside bottom of the bowl, not very noticable on outside bottom of bowl near the base. There is also a crack forming on the inside side of bowl, not very noticable. The outside of the bowl looks good, though I want to mention that the clay is not 100% perfect. It looks like there are some cracks or small holes that I am guessing form in the clay durring the making of it. Please see photos. Bottom of base looks like it says"R.R.P. Co. OHIO" I think this ... moreis Roseville. The second bowl features 6(3 at top. 3 in middle) blue bands or stripes around the bowl. It measures approx. 4.5" tall, 8.25" in diameter at top, and 4.5" diameter at base. There is also a rectangle design around the bowl in the yellow bands between the blue stripes. There is a crack on the inside bottom of the bowl, not very noticable on outside bottom of bowl near the base. There are also hairline cracks on the inside of the bowl. Also there is a chip near top brim on outside of bowl. Please see photos. The blue bands are not consistant in thickness around the bowl, it must have been made this way. Shipping includes insurance. This size is hard to find- I believe this WATT dough/mixing bowl is the LARGEST they made. It is a full 14 inches in diameter. It is clearly marked WATT on the bottom. Along with the number 14. A wide red band is complimented on either side with narrow blue lines. NO CONDITION PROBLEMS: no chips. Cracks or damage of any kind. Ready for use or display. I want to begin by stating there's no intention to deceive here. Over the years the Friendship Pottery made dinnerware and kitchenware for other clients. Longaberger Pottery" was a client at one time and so were the"Henn Workshops" The pottery's main location was in Roseville. Ohio so to sum it up these are the reasons the Henn and Roseville categories were used. In all honesty eBay U.S.A. is lacking in their coverage of pottery categories and other sellers like myself have found these two categories get the most attention to Friendship products. ... moreI've been listing in two categories for several years now since eBay began offering other seller incentives like"free pictures" I can't state for a fact that Henn ever sold this blue band line through Henn or even how Friendship Pottery for Henn was marked. Please understand that I'm only trying to reach as many Friendship Pottery collectors as I can. Please also keep in mind that the Friendship Pottery never claimed their clay formula was stoneware and the generic dinnerware and decorative pottery categories just don't get the attention. One other thing I can state as fact is that a leading on-line dinnerware replacement company is asking $32.00 USD for these mugs plus tax and shipping. What I'm asking is definitely a good deal for a harder to find Friendship item with the blue banding. This mug or cup has no chips. Cracks, glaze crazing, scratches, scuffs, stains or repairs of any kind. It's in like new condition and may have never been used.
