Description FRENCH PORCELAIN CREAMER EMPEROR'S SEAL For sale is this super rare Porcelain creamer sought out in a rural part of France with an Emperor's Seal on the bottom. This little creamer has an intricate texture on the outside that makes it even more unique. With a less than a 100 produced. This antique is a very rare example of pottery craftsmanship. With it's delicate handle that divides into two where it connects to the body of the creamer(which is possible only for pottery used behind the walls of the royal courtyard) this item dates back to the late 18th century when it was firstly used. The texture on the outside of the creamer depicts a forest setting where a traditional looking French huntsman and his two hunt dogs are fighting with one big and one small wild boars. ANTIQUE French FAIENCE GRES STONEWARE CRYSTALLINE POT
The marks on this pot are those of a little known series of Gres(stoneware) pottery produced for a short while by the Desvres Faience Pottery in the period around 1930-35 in Northern France(to the south of Calais) The'FD' stands for Fourmaintraux et Delassus.One of the Desvres potteries, and the other marks to the foot of all these pieces are usually either covered in glaze or chipped and illegible. According to my research and some very kind folks in France I was able to determine the following when they had their pieces identified. Here is what they wrote to me. The hallmark was identified by the French pottery expert Francois Piton. Who is Belgian, and has written two books on Desvres Pottery and is very helpful in identifying French Faience. Offered for your collecting enjoyment is this lovely covered sugar bowl and creamer set. Made by the Francis Masse factory in Desvres. France between 1903-1948. Each piece features the armorals of Mont Saint Michel with two lions holding a crowned shield. The lions on the creamer are greenish and the lions on the sugar are an ocher brown. The lid to the sugar bowl is like the large coffee/tea pot we have in our store where they used a brown color that gives an odd rough feel to the touch.
