LUSTERWARE CREAMER & SUGAR SET, ENGLISH, PLATINUM & GOLD, SHELL DESIGN, c.1880
For your consideration is a rarely seen creamer and sugar set done in a combination of Platinum and Gold Lusterware. The outside and handles are a bright shiny platinum silver and the interior is an antique gold. The handles on both pieces resemble a piece of coral. This set has a light. Fine porcelain feel to it, very similar to Belleek china. To achieve the platinum silver and gold look it was necessary to chemically dissolve the platinum and gold and then apply them. Usually with a brush, to the pieces prior to the final firing. It is rare to find the platinum finish in combination with the gold finish due to the high cost of both materials. The creamer measures 3-1/4” inches in diameter from the spout to the handle and stands 3-1/2” tall. The sugar measures 3-3/4” in diameter and is 3” tall to the top of the handle. There are no identification ... moremarks on the bottom of either piece. There were many companies making Lusterware during the time period of the late 1800’s into the early 1900’s and most of them did not mark their wares. Because of the delicate feel of the porcelain and the quality of glazing they appear to be English in origin and would be consistent with that time period. The condition is excellent. There are no chips. Cracks, repairs or staining. There are signs of age related wear to both pieces; minimal on the sugar and a little more on the creamer. Vintage Retro Austria Lusterware Creamer Pitcher
You are purchasing a cute retro creamer or small pitcher. It was made in Austria. It looks to be hand painted. Brushstrokes are clearly visible in the blue and red rectangles. As you can see in the pictures. The orange bands look like lusterware. The rest is more muted and only faintly glossy thanks to the glaze. It's an interesting combination and makes for a very cool piece that could fit in with a lusterware collection or just bring a bit of shine to any table setting. It measures about 4-1/4" high by 3-5/8" across. Not counting the handle or spout. The mark on the bottom looks like a“W” within a container of some sort. Based on the information on this page. It looks like this piece was made by H Wehinger& Co in the early 20 th Century. There is absolutely no damage to this piece. As far as we can tell. No cracks, chips, ... morecrazing or even fleabites on the rim. There are a couple of minor manufacturing flaws. As you might expect. These are all glazed over, so they definitely aren't damage. The orange is missing in a couple of small patches. The black is smudged in a couple of small spots. There's an orange dot near the bottom of the pitcher. There are a couple of orange flecks on the top rim. See pictures for details on all of these, with a pen so you can get a sense for the size. Again, these are manufacturing flaws, not damage. Vintage Noritake Orange Lusterware Creamer & Sugar Bowl
In 1876. Ichizaemon Morimura VI and his brother Toyo founded Morimura Gumi with the intent of establishing overseas trading by a Japanese company. By 1878, Toyo had established a business in New York selling Japanese antiques and other goods, including pottery. The company was renamed Morimura Brothers in 1881. By the 1890s, the company has shifted from retail to wholesale operations and started working on design improvements for the pottery and porcelain ware, which had become one third of its business. By 1899, all of the pottery and porcelain decorating factories in Tokyo and Kyoto had been consolidated in Nagoya, and the company started research on creating European style hard white porcelain in Japan. In 1904, key members of this trading company created the Nippon Toki Kaisha. Ltd. the Company that makes Japan's Finest China" ... morein Japan. A new factory was built in Noritake. Near Nagoya(now Noritake-shinmachi, Nishi-ku, Nagoya, Aichi) In 1914 the company succeeded in creating their first Western style dinner set, called"Sedan" to compete with European porcelain companies. Nippon Toki wares were mostly aimed at the European Market. This forerunner of the modern Noritake Company was founded in the village of Noritake, a small suburb near Nagoya, Japan. Most of the company’s early wares carried one of the various“Nippon” back stamps to indicate its country of origin when exported to Western markets. Today, many collectors agree that the best examples of“Nippon-era” 1891–1921) hand painted porcelain carry a back stamp used by"Noritake" during the Nippon era. Although consumers and collectors alike have called the tableware, Noritake" and/or simply, Nippon" since the late 1920s, the Japanese parent company did not officially change its name to the Noritake Co. Limited until 1981. Evidently, since Noritake is the name of a place, the company was initially prohibited from registering the name as a trade name.

This listing is for a Scarce Old Antique Pink/Rose and Gold Lusterware Hand Painted Sugar and Creamer Set. I am not sure of the age of this piece but it is very old and also not aware of the maker. It has a beautiful patina with amethyst/rose/gold colors and a wreath of leaves and terrific country scenery. The sugar bowl measures 7.25" wide from handle to handle and is 4.5" tall including handle and is unfortunately missing the lid. The creamer measures 6" wide x 4.5" tall including handle. The sugar bowl has only one minute chip on the inside rim and only minute crazing and for the lack of a better term"age spots" on the sides that do not interfere with the scenery and very minor paint loss. The creamer has no chips. Cracks and it looks as though the bottom of the handle had a slight crack that someone repaired ... morebut does not affect the strength or integrity.the interior of the creamer has lots of"age spots" and some minor crazing. This is a beautiful lot of 3 Old Castle lusterware creamers or mini pitchers made in England. There are two that are one size and one that is a tiny bit larger. All measure approx 2 inches across top and then the two alike ones measure approx 2 1/4 inches tall and the larger one is approx 2 3/4 inches tall. The colors are cream. Pink, green and copper. All in beautiful condition with no chips, cracks, etc. One of the smaller ones just shows a bit more wear on the rim, thats all. Thank you!

Pretty little creamer measures 3" tall and is in very good condition with no chips. Cracks or repairs although the gold accent on the rim and handle shows a bit of wear. There is also what appears to be the residue of an old tag or sticker on the side(outlined in the photo) that would not come off with soap& water but maybe a more aggressive cleaning would remove it.It's difficult to see in the photos but the creamer has an all-over pearlized, almost carnival glass-looking glaze.Signed"Germany" on the bottom.
