LOVELY c1780-1800 STAFFORDSHIRE CREAMWARE STRAP HANDLE SUGAR BOWL w/LID
Please scroll down the page to see additional photographs of this item. LOVELY c1780-1800 STAFFORDSHIRE CREAMWARE STRAP HANDLE SUGAR BOWL w/LID Presented is a lovely Staffordshire creamware sugar bowl. This piece dates to around 1780-1800. The sugar bowl has beautiful hand-painted designs of flowers and leaves. And this motif is continued with the flower finial on the lid and the raised flower decorations where the handles join the body. The handles are done in a crossed strap form, very visually appealing. This piece is in great overall condition. There are some minor flakes to the polychrome enamel. The finial was broken off and reglued/repainted at some point in the past. There is no sign of repainting to the interior of the lid. So the lid is structurally sound and has not been reglued, only the finial. There are no chips, no cracks, ... moreand no repairs to the body. This piece stands approximately 4 1/4 inches tall and measures about 5 3/4 inches from handle to handle. Antique~BlueTransferware Staffordshire Ironstone~Dome Lid Sugar Canister Bowl
BLUE TRANSFERWARE Large Double Handled. 6 Pan elled Domed Lid Sugar Bowl Canister Measurements: Base to tip of lid is 8" Handle to handle at widest point is 7" Diagonally across the opening is 4" Diagonally at base is 4 1/2" Circumference at bottom edge of bowl portion is 15 1/2" This item weighs 1 lb. 8 oz. I do not recall how I acquired this item. Based on observation and reasonable knowledge. I am'estimating' its vintage era to be somewhere between 1850 and the early part of the 20th century. Its manufacture could be ironstone, cerami c or some other composition. It may or may not be considered Staffordshire. It has been washed. Any discoloration is under the glaze or imbedded in it. There are two obvious long ago repairs. The knob portion of the lid has been re-glued. It was poorly aligned during this ... moreprocess. One handle has been re-attached. The alignment is good. However, there is a small piece missing as a result of the breakage. There are several other random but insignificant minor chips considering the age and overall respectable condition of this very old piece of hist ory. I feel the soft blue coloring and what appears to be a Grecian landscape gives this item a very'homey' warmth. Certainly sugar was a precio us commo dity during the time of its manufacture. No doubt it was considered a worthy vessel for storage. I cannot help pondering what memories its by gone days hold. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ These photos are a significant part of the item's description. Antique Early 1800s Staffordshire 8" Octagon Flow Blue Sugar Bowl Davenport Amoy
This is an early 1800's flow blue sugar bowl made by Davenport in Staffordshire England. I believe it is made of soft paste porcelain. It has an octagon or eight sided shape. The mark appears to be one of their earliest. The base is stamped with pattern name"Amoy" along with"Davenport" in capital letters and there is an impressed anchor with Davenport printed around it. The pattern is a very attractive deep flow blue. I have taken several pictures for your better understanding. I will be happy to answer any questions you might have. As to the condition; The bowl is in excellent condition. There are no chips. Cracks, or noticeable scratches. There are normal rub marks on the top corners. There are two tiny spots on the finish. One looks like it could be a flake off the glaze and the other appears to have been done in ... morethe making. Both are insignificant. The lid has three tiny chips on the corners and a few underneath. The handle on the lid has a small chip mostly on the underside. These are not noticeable without close inspection and do not affect the display. Everything is clearly shown in the pictures. For it's age, I would say it is in excellent antique condition. This sugar bowl is good size. It measures 8" high with the lid on. It is 6 1/4" wide from handle to handle. The top rim is 5 1/4" across from corner to corner and the base is 4 1/4" across from corner to corner. It weighs 1 lb. 7 oz. unpacked. We pack everything very carefully. We ship immediately after payment is confirmed. I'll be happy to combine shipping whenever possible to save you money. GOOD LUCK! MAY THE BEST BIDDER WIN!

ST KATHERINE...Historical Dark Blue SUGAR BOWL Staffordshire Transferware Cobalt
Established local business since 1972. DESCRIPTION: This is a beautiful earthenware soft paste sugar bowl and lid in THE ROYAL HOSPITAL OF ST. KATHERINE IN REGENT'S PARK image. It measures about 7" long from flower-embossed-scroll-handle to flower-embossed-scroll-handle. Is 4 3/8" wide at the extended edge of the shoulder, is 4 3/4" tall to the flared neck at the ends and stands about 6" tall to the lid's finial when set on the base. It is the correct lid for the base. The pattern is categorized as a British themed place. I have seen the same exact border on two different pieces categorized as floral and botanical, floral and scrolls, other, however, it is also categorized as floral and botanical, floral and scroll, alternating floral groups. Someone needs to pick one and stick with it. This pattern depicts a hospital ... morealong a lake or river's edge flanked by two trees with a sailboat in the water. Thomas Shepherd is original artist who drew this image from which this was copied and transferred to ceramics. The original engraver or plate maker was W. Tombleson in 1827 so this dates between 1827 and 1850. This still dates to the first half of the 19th century. Why buy today's cheap knock offs when you can spend a bit more to preserve, use and pass on these antique pieces? There are five assorted chips/flakes/chiggers around the flared lip of the base. The interior is lightly stained along with the exterior bottom. There are two flakes around the inside lip where the lid overs it. The lid is in great shape with attached(NOT repaired) finial.
