I first want to explain that in the United States from the 1870s up until World War Two the biggest hobby in this country was painting on porcelain. You had amateur painters. Professional painters, professional porcelain decorating and painting studios and some American poreclain potteries had their own decorating departments. One crucial piece of knowledege you kneed to know is that the vast majority of this porcelain artwork done by American porcelain artists was painted on blank white porcelain imported in from other countries, You had French Limoges porcelain, Bavarian porcelain(and it was its own state from 1806 to 1918) German porcelain, Austrian-Bohemian porcelain and some came from Nippon(which is Japan) and other Far East Asian countries. This petite and delicate hand painted fine porcelain creamer is just stunning—so thin-walled that light penetrates easily. And so delicately painted that it has a flow blue look to it. Has fluted sides, and a fluted shape to the handle. The spout also has lovely lines. Has a decorative medallion on each side at the top, done in high relief. There is a hand painted sailing vessel with a tiny man in the stern on the front, and an equally tiny man in a tiny boat on the other side. The decoration has a decidedly Delft feel, making this piece both charming AND beautiful! Unsure maker or of exact age. But I believe this piece to be from the mid to late 1800s. Very Dainty Embossed Thin Porcelain Creamer With Hand Painted Violets
Dainty eggshell thin white antique porcelain creamer. It is a molded type porcelain. It has embossed scrolls and flourishes in spots. Lie on the spout for example. The rounded bottom part of the pitcher has a swirled and ridged look. Very sweet little pitcher. It does have some gold loss on the handle and rim. There is something imprinted into the bottom of it, I think a number, but I can't make it out. The very bottom also seems not to be glazed. There are no chips or cracks. There is no mark on the bottom but it looks to be French or Bavarian. It is white on the inside and the outside is a pale blue with pink white and green roses. It is gilded in gold. Two tones of purple violets on a background of a multi-tone natural golden amber colors in very good condition. Excellent condition-No cracks. Chips, fleabites or repairs. All pieces including the sugar dish lid have gold gilt which does show wear overall on all pieces. Both creamer and sugar dish are marked on the bottom in green with Hand Painted which is surrounded by a very detailed scrolling design. There is also a number on the bottoms of CY916 and an impression which is the mold marking of an underlined 1003. A 4 underneath that on the sugar dish and a 5 underneath the mold mark on the creamer. The sugar dish measures 3.75 inches tall with the lid on and is 4 inches diameter at it's widest point not including the handles. Painted with poppy flower décor, heavy gilt trim to the handles& rim. The sugar bowl& creamer are both signed, the name appears to possibly read C. Tappi. The sugar bowl is marked on the bottom with the underglaze green Ginori mark, the orange crown Ginori Italy mark, the hand painted in blue mark, the number 220 which is probably the pattern number. The creamer is marked as well(see photos) I believe this should date them to the 1800's. Up for auction is this beautiful ceramic/porcelain creamer pitcher and sugar bowl. They are unusual in their shape and have finely painted detail accenting. There is no marking on the bottom. They have the look of Austria pieces and came from an estate with several other ceramic pieces that were from Austria. These are very beautiful, fine porcelain pieces with gold gilt trim. Sugar Bowl: 4 1/4" length by 3" width(base measurement) by 3 3/4" tall. Creamer: 3 1/2" by 3 3/4" base diameter by 4 1/2" tall(highest point) The only defect is a small gold spot of paint on the creamer pitcher front(by the spout) This obviously happened during the making of the item. Vintage Lefton hand Painted China Violets Creamer + Other Porcelain Cup
This is a very pretty small Lefton China creamer hand painted with violets and a gold trim. Very dainty. It measures just 1-1/2" tall or2-1/4" if you count the upturned spout, and 3-1/2" handle to spout length, a skosh less than 2-1/2" across the other way. It has a number 2912 on the bottom. The other piece has no markings at all. But those who like to collect violets will enjoy this even so. Its bottom is like a little china pedestal, holding up the round bowl-shape cup. It measures 3" diameter across the top and is 2" tall. Nicely painted, but I feel a little roughness around the rim on the inside which does not hurt the appearance, but you need to know about it. Co. R. Delinieres and Company of the La Taupiniere Porcelain Factory on Rue Albert Thomas, Limoges France) 1860 to 1900 with both Items in"Excellent Plus" Used Condition. Circa Late 1800s to Early 1900s. I first want to explain that in the United States from the Mid 1870s until World War Two the biggest hobby in this country was painting on porcelain. Besides the amateur painters you also had professional painters. Professional porcelain decorating studios and some American ... moreporeclain potteries had their own decorating departments. One crucial piece of knowledege you need to know is that the vast majority of this porcelain artwork done by American porcelain artists was painted on blank white porcelain imported in from other countries, You had French Limoges porcelain, Bavarian porcelain(and Bavaria was its own kingdom from 1806 to 1918) German porcelain, Austrian-Bohemian porcelain and some came from Nippon(which is Japan) and other Far East Asian countries. The reason for this was the United States was still in its infancy when it came to porcelain production and the imported porcelain blanks were much less expensive to buy than our own American porcelain blanks in most cases. Because of this a common mistake is to attribute antique American painted porcelain as to being painted in the country on the backstamp. There was a law institued in 1891 by the United States requiring all goods imported into the U.S.A. to have the country of origin on it somewhere.
