Limoges France(1860 to 1900) Hand Painted Open Sugar Bowl and Hand Painted Creamer(Cream Pitcher) Set with a Floral Pattern Consisting of Alternating Pink Roses& Purple Violets Sharing the same Stem and Leaf Pattern over a Gloss White Glaze Application Attributed to being Decorated in Limoges, France in"Excellent Plus" to"Near-Mint Condition" Used, Circa 1894 to 1900. I first want to explain that in the United States from the 1870s up until World War Two the biggest hobby in this country was painting on porcelain. You had amateur painters. Professional painters, professional porcelain decorating and painting studios and some American poreclain potteries had their own decorating ... moredepartments. One crucial piece of knowledege you kneed to know is that the vast majority of this porcelain artwork done by American porcelain artists was painted on blank white porcelain imported in from other countries, You had French Limoges porcelain, Bavarian porcelain(and it was its own state from 1806 to 1918) German porcelain, Austrian-Bohemian porcelain and some came from Nippon(which is Japan) and other Far East Asian countries. The reason for this was the United States was still in its infancy when it came to porcelain production and the imported porcelain blanks were much less expensive then our own American porcelain blanks in most cases. Because of this a common mistake is to attribute antique American painted porcelain as to being painted in the country on the backstamp. There was a law institued in 1891 by the United States requiring all goods imported into the U.S.A. to have the country of origin on it somewhere. Therefore we have an abundance of antique hand painted porcelain by Americans on blanks marked from another country. One crucial piece of knowledege you need to know is that the vast majority of this porcelain artwork done by American porcelain artists was painted on blank white porcelain imported in from other countries, You had French Limoges porcelain, Bavarian porcelain(and Bavaria was its own kingdom from 1806 to 1918) German porcelain, Austrian-Bohemian porcelain and some came from Nippon(which is Japan) and other Far East Asian countries. The reason for this was the United States was still in its infancy when it came to porcelain production and the imported porcelain blanks were much less expensive to buy than our own American porcelain blanks in most cases. Because of this a common mistake is to attribute antique American painted porcelain as to being painted in the country on the backstamp. There was a law institued in 1891 by the United States requiring all goods imported into the U.S.A. to have the country of origin on it somewhere. HAND PAINTED porcelain sugar bowl. The markings"THOMAS, BAVARIA, and then LA REINE the artist signed on the bottom and next to the handle on the bowl. This sugar bowl is from around the turn of the 20th century. 100 years old and not a single chip on it. Has normal wear. I fell in love with the beauty of the yellow roses and green leaves. They cluster on the front and back. And in a natural flow unto the lid. The gold handles on both sides of the bowl and one on top of the lid blend beautifully with the tan and brown background with gold trim on the top edge of bowl and the rim of the lid. This peace measures 3 ½” high. ... more6” wide, and 2 ¾” in diameter around the base. This has had a previous owner who took very good care of her collections. I can find no chips. Cracks or marks. Looks like normal wear. Any one interested in this pattern and would like me to keep looking for more, it would be my pleasure, I would love to find out more about this company. This is a very old Victorian White covered sugar bowl with floral design and Gold on bottom and the lid. The maker on the bottom is identified as C.T. with an eagle above the name. This stands for Carl Tielsch whose company was founded in 1845. This company was later taken over by Hutchenruther in 1918. That dates the piece to be at least 100 years old. It is in very good condition with only a few fading on the Gold area and no cracks or chips. The is a Green mark on the top of one handle. The bowl measures 5 1/2” from handle to handle and 4 1/4” tall to the top of the lid. It is solid White on the inside.

Because of this a common mistake is to attribute antique American painted porcelain as to being painted in the country on the backstamp. There was a law institued in 1891 by the United States requiring all goods imported into the U.S.A. to have the country of origin on it somewhere. There's no identifying marks on this item lot. They are beautifully hand painted. On every square centimeter there are raised paint globules on each. There's hundreds of multi-colored dots. It must have taken one person a very long time to do such close intricate work. They are made of fine thin porcelain. I wish I knew the style so i could tell you. There's no chips. Cracks or discolorations. The two pieces are clean and look to be all but flawless. They are stunning to behold. I see a tiny black pinprick dot on the inside shelf of the sugar bowl. Beautiful hand painted sugar bowl is marked"A Lady Fair Import" It is in perfect condition. It stands 5 1/2" tall.

VINTAGE HAND PAINTED CLOWN JESTER PIERROT PORCELAIN SUGAR CONDIMENT BOWL JAR WITH LID& THE NUMBER 9301 STAMPED ON THE BOTTOM CONDITION: SMALL CHIP ON INSIDE TOP OF JAR AND SMALL HAIRLINE THAT IS NOT COMPLETELY THRU THE JAR. LOOKS LIKE IT SHOULD HAVE HAD SALT AND PEPPERS BUT I'M NOT SURE. 4 1/2" HIGH SEE ALL THE PIC'S FOR FURTHER CONDITION DETAILS.
