Lancasters Ltd. Ye Olden Days" Cream and Sugar Set(Please scroll down for MORE photos) Here's a beautiful vintage cream and sugar set from the Lancaster's Ltd. English Ware series. This set has a scene depicting an English gentleman purchasing an apple while his coach and coachmen wait. There's a manor house in the background. This scene is labeled"The Olden Days" under the illustration. It appears on both sides of the sugar bowl. But just on one side of the creamer. Both pieces are edged in gold, and the creamer has a gold stripe on the handle. The sugar bowl is about 2-3/8" high at the rim. And the creamer is about the same height, at the tip of the spout. Both pieces are marked with an"English Ware" Lancasters mark in green. There is also an incised number- 169 on both. Both have the decorator's ... moremarks in gold also. There are no identification marks to determine the maker or age of the creamer. But most lustre-ware was made in England in the 1800s. The creamer is in very nice vintage condition with some wear from age and use. No nicks. Chips, cracks or crazing. Some discoloration to copper lustre, quite minor. Rococo relief base with raised acanthus on the lower bodies. Pink lustre ware was made by potters in Staffordshire England that include Swansea. Sunderland, and Davenport. ADAMS/ TUNSTALL, the letter"X" and a 2 numbers are impressed into the bottom of the creamer accompanied by a black stamped company mark(see photos for all! This creamer is earthenware with a matte black(Egyptian ware) finish, gilt rim and white glaze interior; it is hi-lighted with a decorative hand painted red and yellow border and a bold multi-color Bermuda coat of arms. I received information from another eBayer that this is Maruto Mu Ware of Nagoya. Japan and dates from between 1890-1921. I do not know anything about Japanese antiques however, so please judge for yourself by the markings. See the pictures above which show the mark to determine what this is. Vintage BCM Nelson Ware Lusterware Creamer made in England
Up for sale is a Vintage BCM Nelson luster ware copper creamer. This creamer was made somewhere between 1900& 1940 in England. For it's age the copper is in fair shape. Please check the pictures for the ware. The measurements are 3 3/8" tall X 5 1/2" wide from handle to spout. The opening at top is 2 3/4" wide. When I ship fragile items I build a wooden box then put that inside a shipping box with packing for a safe shipment. This will cause the package to weigh more but is well worth it. Absolutely beautiful vintage creamer in gold lustre ware with peach band. Has hand painted abstract floral design in the band. The rich gold glaze is really more of a bronze color. Stands about 3 inches tall. Condition: This creamer is in extremely good condition. There are NO chips or cracks. There are a couple of spots where the glaze isn't even. AND there is one spot on the side that I am not sure what happened. I tried to show this in picture 5 above. It is a spot and I don't know if it was there after the original manufacturing process or if it may have been exposed to something that caused it later. But it is there! This is a rare Wedgwood pale yellow Cane Ware pottery large creamer. Impressed Wedgwood with a letter(either T or I) The creamer is ornamented with the White Chinese Flower pattern. Also used in Wedgwood's Rosso Antico, see plate 97, pg. 311 in Robin Reilly's Wedgwood The New Illustrated Dictionary) and on some majolica. The handle is patterned after a bamboo stalk. The creamer has wear to high points and one glaze chip on the rim. Black mark in the bed is residue from a sticker. That area is now clean. Measurements: 6 3/4" from spout to handle x 5" diameter x 3 1/4" high"Caneware. Like Black Basalt, was one of the dry-body wares made mostly from the clays of Staffordshire. It is buff to tan in color. The term Bamboo Ware is also used in reference to the body, an allusion not only to color but to a series of bamboo-inspired ... moredesigns produced by Wedgwood. In fact, although cane-colored was the factory term for the body, bamboo seems to have been the brand name(as Queen's Ware was the brand name for cream-color. As with creamware, pearlware and the other clay bodies that Wedgwood worked on and perfected, so it also was with cane ware or bamboo ware. After a few failed attempts, Wedgwood was successful in perfecting the clay body and by introducing it in attractive and inventive forms, he made the ware exceedingly popular. He was, of course, imitated by other Staffordshire potters. This is a rare Wedgwood Turner yellow caneware creamer. It is a pale yellow with classical scenes on each side. On one side is a reclining semi-nude lady with her dog and a cupid spying her from behind the branches of a tree. She appears to be pondering the butterfly flitting away. On the other side are two ladies among the trees. One lady reclining into the lap of the other, seated lady. They are joined by a naked child straddled atop a dog as if he were riding a horse. A bird is flying nearby. Above the scenes is a ring of intertwined serpentine bands that creates repeating circles with a quattrefoil motif within each circle. The looping handle is adorned with overlapping acanthus leaf. A bit of research reveals that this was made during the late 1700's- early 1800's. This is a very rare and unique creamer with lid and sugar in a fabulous art deco style. The background glaze is a light pink sponge over a white body. The hand painted floral is of a geometric style in black. Grays and offset with a deep rosy pink& bright yellow. Backstamp ~ Ridgways. Sunshine Ware. England. And an import stamp for Macy’ in the form of a ship in full sail. I believe this stamp is a symbol for Macy’s original store in New York that is considered their“Flagship” store. Circa ~ I have not been able to find information on this particular Ridgway mark however I have been able to bring in an approximate date of production. Noted is the name Ridgways verses Ridgway.
