An incredible accomplishment. The foundry work executed in this piece is above reproach- each gilt bronze mount is hand chased to the highest quality, mercury gilded and of outstanding detail. An angular and commanding work, the Armoire is surmounted by a triangular crest that is removable from the body with two dowels on either side- this is flanked by a pair of carved mahogany(replaced) finials. Beneath the projecting crown molding, an incredible gilt bronze mount of an angel riding through ocean waves in a cornucopia pulled along by swans while leaving behind a trail of shells is simply stunning. Flanking this on either side are opposing gilt bronze solider masks. The top is removable. Lifting off of large steel screws inside of the armoire to allow the door to be lifted from it's hinges for easier transportation. On either side of the door, pedestaled on large tapered columns rest large and highly impressive patinated and gilt bronze Classical female heads with bowed ribbon holding her hair back. These are the largest mounts of flawless execution we've seen on a piece from this period, each a stunning work of art in it's own merit. A hand filed steel screw secures each head to the case. Beneath the column, intense gilded Lion Paw's in the Regency manner complete the form. The arched door swings open with use of the original key. Revealing a golden oak interior of four shelves and a single locking drawer. This drawer is hand dovetailed with solid oak secondary woods, when removed revealing an illegible signature in period script along the dust board. Affixed to the top of the armoire on the inside is an old bill of lading from Lawsonia Manufacturing Company in Philadelphia, noting it's sale of an"Exist. Here for auction we have a beautiful Victorian mahogany wardrobe dating to the second half of the 19th century. This good example of the classic Victorian wardrobe has a moulded cornice over a single large mirrored door flanked by arched panelled sides enclosing hooks and full length hanging space on a deep base drawer raised atop a plinth base. The drawer is mahogany lined with its original handles and easy to use. To the inside the original hooks are in place but a rail could be easily added and modern hangers can be accommodated. The wardrobe is in good order with the only worthy note being a small amount of `spots` to the original mirror but nothing to worry about and to expected. All 3 are described by antique appraisers as" A LOST ART" IN furniture making. Grain painting styles in this wardrobe required great skill. Measurements: 82" Tall 31 1/2" Wide 20" Deep The wood appears to be white pine. Poplar, or some other wood which has no perceptible grain patterns in the natural. The finger strokes have been applied with perhaps a mixture of burnt sienna and raw umber. Over a base coat of a yellow-ochre the most of the armoire. Incredible French Carved Single Door. Mirrored, Armoire/Wardrobe. Incredible detail all over. This one is from the mid 1800's, I do not believe it has been refinished ever, looks all original to me. You will see a few age marks here and there, and a few flecks of veneer off along the bottom of the door. In the last picture you will see the door is open to the piece and the left hand side is seperated, this is because a tightening bolt is missing. These pieces break down in several pieces and have to be attached, the bolt that attaches the left side to the crown, or topper, is missing, I will get a new one and have it in there before it is delivered to a customer. Oak 1880 Antique Armoire or 3 Door Closet. Carved Dragons& Birds. A fabulously hand carved 1880's armoire. Wardrobe or closet from England dates from around 1880. Dragons, griffins, birds and fruit are lavishly sculpted in high relief by a master artisan. The old finish may be original and is very well preserved with minor mars on the bottom of this solid fine grained oak furniture. Waxed and buffed. Only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its warm patina. Brass hardware and glass knobs are original, drawers have expertly hand cut dovetail joints. The original shaped and beveled mirror has"smoke" for character. There are gaps as shown between the doors from age shrinkage. An antique Arts& Crafts style solid oak Hall Wardrobe of American origin. We are pleased to present this antique Hall Wardrobe for your consideration. It is made of solid Oak wood. And is of American origin with an Arts& Crafts or Mission style look. Unusual for an American piece, it has a mechanism for disassembly to simplify the task of moving it from one place to another. A single door is found on the front, and hooks(not original to the piece) are found on the back, near the top, for hanging garments. Limited depth on the inside is not sufficient for a hanger to fit front-to-back. So this piece is better suited for use as a Hall Wardrobe, rather than a full armoire. Other possibilities, with the addition of shelves, would be use as a Bookcase, Spice Cabinet, or Kitchen Pantry. The outside measurements are 69 inches high. 33-1/2 ... moreinches wide, and 15-1/2 inches deep. There are four(4) pieces of sliding wood locks on the inside. When slid towards the front and removed, they allow the top and bottom to be removed for transport(see three close up pictures to get an idea of how the mechanism works) On the inside. A lovely Waring& Gillow Ltd Walnut wardrobe. Only selling this as it won't fit into our new house. We guess the age as Victorian as this is how we originally bought it but could be later. Very good quality sturdy wardrobe with a hanging pole and a shelf across the top. Produced at the Liverpool Factory by Waring& Gillow Ltd. The walnut doors are quite simply stunning. There is a faded bit of about a square foot at the bottom half of the left door. It doesn't show very well in pictures. But I'm happy to supply more images. Stunning Antique French mirror wardrobe/armoire from the Belle Epoque Era
This has been in our spare room for several years and we absolutely love it- it is truly beautiful. Sadly we need to part with it to make way for a new member of the household. The top piece comes off above the mirrored door. And both drawers and shelves come off/out to make moving/transport easier. It is very sturdy, not a light piece. The paintwork is distressed and it was bought like this 11 years ago, and only the knobs and handles have been changed as they were in poor shape or not existent and 1 shelf added. It measures 252 cm high at middle point 124 cm wide. 46 cm deep plus the top piece sticks out another 25 cm as you can see from photo 2, but is removable. This excellent quality French antique double door armoire in the Henri II style dates from c.1900. The armoire has been painted in Farrow and Ball'Pavillion Grey' with'All White' highlights. And has been given a soft wax finish. With some wonderful features including a carved removeable top with finials to each side. There are reeded columns either side of the decoratively carved panelled doors. With ornate brass locks to the doors and handles to the drawer. The interior can be fitted with adjustable shelves or can have a shelf with hanging rails from front to back. There is an additional useful drawer to the base. As with all our wooden items it has been fully treated with a woodworm preventative as a matter of course. There are some very minor knocks and bumps but this is in keeping with its age c1900. Beautiful Mahogany Wardrobe circa 1910 Width = 65" including upper cornice = 75" Total Height 83 1/2" Depth = 21 1/2" including upper cornice = 24 1/2" Triple fronted with a central compactum behind a mirrored door. There are 4 pull out shelf drawers and two cabin drawers below with pull handles. Brass fittings adorn every part. Hooks. Drawer pulls, rails and handles. The ornate front handles twist to pull back the catch and open doors. The hanging rails pull forward on their mechanism to allow full view of hanging garments and stowed back into the cupboard. Ingenious and well made. Pretty inlaid details and quarter laid mahogany grain. This has been finely done. The colouring is very rich without being too dark and it is not an overbearing piece. There is also cornice to the top and scalloping between the'feet' ... moreThe wardrobe dis- assembles into 5 parts meaning it can be brought up narrow staircases/ through awkward doorways. It was originally designed to adorn a wonderful old manor or stately farmhouse and may have had to come through several rooms to be placed. It also means that the wardrobe is easy to transport and manageable to carry. The wardrobe is in good antique condition. There are minor knocks/scratches to the woodwork. As you would expect for an original item of this age. I have noticed the following. There is a fine crack in the wood panel behind the mirror. It is secure for use. But needs mention. There is a small piece of trim missing on the very bottom of the 1" width between mid-section and right section. Also a small corner on the top of same section. The brass on the rail is loose at left side. There are two small spots of white paint on the far left side panel. All of the above mentioned are minor. Overall an amazing piece. antique solid wood Bavarian wardrobe
This is a solid wood antique wardrobe from Bavaria. Called a"Bauernschrank" furniture the farmers used to have. Unfortunately due to lack of space it had to kept in a shed for the last 10 years or more, and therefore is in great need of TLC. The wardrobe probably dates from around 1870s, and the wood is maybe spruce. It used to my childhood wardrobe, however it needs to be sold, as we cannot keep in the house due to its dimensions and I would like it to go into good hands- preferably somebody who knows about restoring antique furniture. Its dimensions are D 54cm. W 121cm and H 179 cm.

Solid pine antique wardrobe/ armoire. Beautiful. Has bags& bags of character, hand made hinges, still working lock complete with original key. It is still very sturdy. A testament to the craftsmen who made it. Has four shelves which can be removed if required. If you wish to add a hanger rail for longer garments. Would look stunning in a victorian or cottage home. Or in a chic shop as part of a display- very versatile indeed with the removable shelves. This item measures 39 inches wide by 19 inches deep by 69 inches high. It's been gone for a very long time. Does need minor tlc here& there- a fresh wax etc. But very sturdy. This wardrobe is heavy. And will require at least two people to move.
